The activities planned for volunteers are:

  • In Early Childhood Centers (Flores and Pompeya neighborhoods). Activities: Recreation and games, preparing snacks/breakfast, administrative tasks (during the week)

    - Within the "Haciendo Lupa" Program, with ages between 9 and 15 years (Barracas neighborhood). Activities: Literacy workshops and games, stories, writing, art (2 days a week in Caacupé Parish) / School support (Wednesdays, Santa Lucía center)

    - Institutional work. Modality mainly virtual or in the office located in the neighborhood of Palermo (Buenos Aires).

Work

  1. There are four educative centers and communitarian kitchens.
    - Puente Verde. In addition to food security, cooking and taekwondo workshops are also
    offered. In addition, tutoring and school support is provided to children.
    - Tejedoras. They also provide support and companionship for the elderly.
    - Amparo de los niños.
    - Los Ángeles no miran.
    2. Plastic bottle collection campaign:
    Clean materials are received, sorted and delivered to a recycling plant. With the money

    3. Solidarity fair:
    They receive donated clothes, used or new, classify them and then hold a fair where the
    proceeds also support different projects and organizations.

The aim of the project is to accompany children in their grow-up process and be a protagonist of their own life. In addition, they support sustainable and ecological economic projects that promote the care of the environment.
This organization offers a safe place to more than 650 children in different areas of the city, located
in the south of Buenos Aires. There they receive “merienda” (milk and cookies) after school and
dinner and they participate in different recreational and pedagogical activities

Work

We work with 25 kids from 1 to 5 years old in the morning, from 8H00 to 12H00. In the afternoon we work with 20 children from 3 to 9 years old, from 15H00 to 17H00.
We work with 6 professionals in the morning and 3 in the afternoon.
We would be grateful to work with volunteers, our objective is the children develop bilingual skills, the volunteers will help the teachers with English activities, because we think is very important for our Academy to share with our kids different culture and ways to pronounce the language.

Work

As a volunteer, you will teach English for about 20-25 hours each week. Most of your teaching will be in a local primary school, working alongside a local teacher. You'll also get help from different professionals to plan your lessons.

There is a total of 4 schools, with 2 in Medellin and 2 in El Carmen de Viboral. Volunteers will be placed in one of these schools to teach.

With your support in teaching English you can contribute to the foundation's purpose of reducing inequality in Colombia.
Help us achieve the national goal of being a bilingual country and train children to be global citizens!

Accomodation and food

The volunteer receives monthly $1.600 000 COP (approx. 360 EUR) for accommodation, transportation and food. The local foundation will help you finding an accommodation.

Location and leisure

Medellín, 'the city of eternal spring', capital of the Antioquia department, has a pleasant climate of around 24°C; it offers modern transport systems like Metro and Metro Cable. Located in a valley surrounded by mountains, this city is always friendly to visitors.

From the mountains that surround the capital of Antioquia you can see how the Medellín River runs parallel to the Metro, which connects various parts of the city. There is an abundance of parks, libraries, museums and public spaces where many cultural events take place. There is a flower festival and in the surrounding villages life is simple with relaxing landscapes and nature reserves.

Places such as the Botanical Garden, the Pies Descalzos park, the Berrío park and the Lleras park are places that you cannot miss.
In addition, Medellín has Parque Explora, an interactive science and technology museum in which children and adults can learn and try a large number of activities. Nearby you find the Planetarium and the Parque de los Deseos.

El Carmen de Viboral (1h from Medellin) is a small municipality located in a rural area where you can find many cultural activities.
