Arbeit

A total of 10 cities were affected by two major earthquakes and hundreds of aftershocks that followed in Kahramanmaraş, located in southeast Turkey. Thousands of buildings were destroyed and many more severely damaged. Tens of thousands of adults and children affected by the earthquake were transferred to temporary accommodation areas in the surrounding safe cities as they had nowhere to go. Aşık Veysel Cultural Association opened the student dormitory located in the center of Ankara to the earthquake victims. In this dormitory, earthquake victims' families and their children live. All the needs of the earthquake victims are met by the Aşık Veysel Cultural Association, with the donations made to them and the efforts of the volunteers. We will need the support of volunteers in many areas such as cooking for earthquake victims, food distribution, environmental cleaning, public health and hygiene, organization, organization and distribution of humanitarian aid materials, transportation and transportation, psycho-social support for children and gamified activities. Various business divisions can be made on many subjects that are written and not written here. Volunteers can be assigned for any job in the living spaces created for earthquake victims, depending on the need. Please note that in such extraordinary circumstances, work plans and needs can change rapidly. Maximum adaptation to changing conditions is strongly requested. Volunteers can participate in more than one program without a work permit and visa for a minimum of 4 weeks and a maximum of 89 days.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

Volunteers will stay in Aşık Veysel Girls' Dormitory, where the depressed people live, in rooms for 2-3 people only with volunteers. The rooms have a shower and toilet. There is a dining hall and cafeteria in the dormitory. The dormitory is in a very central location in Ankara. Volunteers will be provided with three meals a day.

Lage und Freizeit

Dikmen is one of the central districts of Ankara. From this location, you can easily reach every part of Ankara by using public transportation. There is also a park next to the dormitory. You can spend time here with earthquake-affected children. You can explore Ankara with volunteers and camp leader. You can make friends with the volunteer youth of the Aşık Veysel Cultural Association and participate in other activities of the cultural association. With the contribution of the Children's Art Space Platform, you can organize activities for children and establish social bonds with earthquake victims. A comfortable, friendly and hospitable environment awaits you.

Counselling a group of children aged between 10-14 years old, leading several activities; mainly swimming for them.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

In Afacan Youth House, in 2-3 bedded rooms with toilet and shower. Sleeping bags and mats are not necessary. Food will be supplied at the campsite. The counsellors will eat together with the group of children whom they are responsible for. Wi-fi is limited.

Lage und Freizeit

Yenisakran is a provincial town in the city of Izmir by the Aegean Sea, in west of Turkiye. Work camp site is safe and secure.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Childhood Dreams is a special project of GHD, designed for disadvantaged children groups aged 10-14. This camp is sponsored by external funds as well as the funds raised by GHD. All accommodation and food expenses of the disadvantaged children are covered by funds. The project is realised in Afacan Youth House ( www.afacan.de ). We are looking for communicative, talkative, active, children friendly volunteers who are at least 20 years old with some abilities on teaching basic English, any sports like basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, table tennis, etc., chess, arts and crafts, music, dance, drama, in and outdoor group games. Ability of swimming is essential and teaching swimming is preferable. Applicants will be interviewed by the camp managers via Zoom / Skype / WhatsApp before being confirmed. A motivation letter should be send along with the application form.You will share the responsibilities of the leading team to take care a group of kids from the beginning till the end of the camp including the trips outside of the camp as well as all kind of activities during the camp. Please note that you will be dealing with the kids through the given and intensive program all day long. You will spend most of your time with the kids in the camp area with a limited private life. Thus, contact with the locals is very limited; however, you will have contact with the working people in the campsite. Volunteers may have fun together only after the kids go to the bed and the team cover the late, daily staff meeting in the camp. Leaving the camp area is not allowed due to unexpected emergency cases. Teamwork is very essential for this camp. Thus, any volunteer who disagrees with the camp rules and team spirit are asked to leave. Smoking and drinking alcohol is not allowed during the camp at the campsite in front of the kids. Please be aware of the rules before applying.

SEKADER is a local NGO aiming to socialise disabled people of the area through water sports. They hired a camping site where they teach swimming, canoeing and diving to disabled people. To raise a fund to cover the costs of the camping site they also run a camp to practice English. Good English speakers are invited to spend 10 days with a group of international teenager participants who wish to improve their English in such a camp.

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

Participants should fly to Izmir Airport on the first day of the camp, but must land before 17:00 as the camp leader will greet everyone and transfer them to the campsite at 17:00. Together with the camp leader, you will reach the camp area first by metro and then by public bus. On the last day of the camp all participants will be transferred to the airport after breakfast. So the return flight must be arranged for the afternoon. More info will be on the info sheet which will be sent to the placed participants.

Volunteers must be minimum 20 years old and agree to share responsibilities together with the group leader. Practicing English is the main aim of this camp. Thus, creative volunteers with some experience on teaching, outdoor or table games, music, drama, sport will be preferred. A motivation letter should be sent along with the application form. Arbeit

This camp is a great chance for teenagers to improve English in an international group with fun. Apart from the light daily work, there will be 3 hours outdoor English lessons, afternoon language activities, night games, cultural night and national dance activities. There will be Turkish youngsters as well in the group. So, you will have a chance to learn a lot about them and you will introduce your culture and country. You will play games altogether. It will be a great camp, great fun. Besides English practices and activities, volunteers will be responsible for the daily cleaning of the site including the area, kitchen, toilet and bathrooms and tents. The work in this camp will be light as practicing English is the main aim of the camp. Volunteers and participants will clean the beach / campsite and do similar activities together.

Together with the camp leader, you will reach the camp area first by metro and then by public bus. On the last day of the camp all participants will be transferred to the airport after breakfast. Arbeit

A total of 10 cities were affected by two major earthquakes and hundreds of aftershocks that followed in Kahramanmaraş, located in southeast Turkey. Thousands of buildings were destroyed and many more severely damaged. Tens of thousands of adults and children affected by the earthquake were transferred to temporary accommodation areas in the surrounding safe cities as they had nowhere to go. Aşık Veysel Cultural Association opened the student dormitory located in the center of Ankara to the earthquake victims. In this dormitory, earthquake victims' families and their children live. All the needs of the earthquake victims are met by the Aşık Veysel Cultural Association, with the donations made to them and the efforts of the volunteers. We will need the support of volunteers in many areas such as cooking for earthquake victims, food distribution, environmental cleaning, public health and hygiene, organization, organization and distribution of humanitarian aid materials, transportation and transportation, psycho-social support for children and gamified activities. Various business divisions can be made on many subjects that are written and not written here. Volunteers can be assigned for any job in the living spaces created for earthquake victims, depending on the need. Please note that in such extraordinary circumstances, work plans and needs can change rapidly. Maximum adaptation to changing conditions is strongly requested. Volunteers can participate in more than one program without a work permit and visa for a minimum of 4 weeks and a maximum of 89 days.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

Volunteers will stay in Aşık Veysel Girls' Dormitory, where the depressed people live, in rooms for 2-3 people only with volunteers. The rooms have a shower and toilet. There is a dining hall and cafeteria in the dormitory. The dormitory is in a very central location in Ankara. Volunteers will be provided with three meals a day.

Dikmen is one of the central districts of Ankara. From this location, you can easily reach every part of Ankara by using public transportation. There is also a park next to the dormitory. You can spend time here with earthquake-affected children. You can explore Ankara with volunteers and camp leader. You can make friends with the volunteer youth of the Aşık Veysel Cultural Association and participate in other activities of the cultural association. With the contribution of the Children's Art Space Platform, you can organize activities for children and establish social bonds with earthquake victims. A comfortable, friendly and hospitable environment awaits you.

Childhood Dreams is a special project of GHD, designed for disadvantaged children groups aged 10-14. This camp is sponsored by external funds as well as the funds raised by GHD. All accommodation and food expenses of the disadvantaged children are covered by funds. The project is realised in Afacan Youth House ( www.afacan.de ). We are looking for communicative, talkative, active, children friendly volunteers who are at least 20 years old with some abilities on teaching basic English, any sports like basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, table tennis, etc., chess, arts and crafts, music, dance, drama, in and outdoor group games. Ability of swimming is essential and teaching swimming is preferable. Applicants will be interviewed by the camp managers via Zoom / Skype / WhatsApp before being confirmed. A motivation letter should be send along with the application form.You will share the responsibilities of the leading team to take care a group of kids from the beginning till the end of the camp including the trips outside of the camp as well as all kind of activities during the camp. Please note that you will be dealing with the kids through the given and intensive program all day long. You will spend most of your time with the kids in the camp area with a limited private life. Thus, contact with the locals is very limited; however, you will have contact with the working people in the campsite. Volunteers may have fun together only after the kids go to the bed and the team cover the late, daily staff meeting in the camp. Leaving the camp area is not allowed due to unexpected emergency cases. Teamwork is very essential for this camp. Thus, any volunteer who disagrees with the camp rules and team spirit are asked to leave. Smoking and drinking alcohol is not allowed during the camp at the campsite in front of the kids. Please be aware of the rules before applying.

As one of GHD s program, East-West Camp is organizing one week project consisting informal and non-formal education for socially and economically disadvantaged youth to empower them. We try to give the equal opportunities to low income youth to participate for learning by doing. This year we will give the priority to the youth from the earthquake area. For more information on the program: http://www.dogubatikampi.org/sayfa/23/general-information20-25 university students from different cities of Turkiye will have a chance to experience intercultural learning and different activities during this camp. Including 2 coordination leaders, the majority of the group will be Turkish. Except the leaders, the group members might not able to speak any foreign languages but highly motivated to communicate with the foreign volunteers.For supporting our coordination team, we are looking for 7 volunteers / counsellors who are able to organize, run and lead activities with the participants in different areas such as practicing English, sport, drama, music, chess, indoor-outdoor games, handicraft, dance, etc.

In Afacan Youth House on the first day of the camp, by 12.00. Please arrange your travel to Izmir Airport accordingly. Further arrival details will be on the info sheet. Volunteers will leave the camp on the last day of the camp, after breakfast.

SEKADER is a local NGO that aims to socialize the disabled in the region with water sports and disability camps. It has been operating since 2010.They created a camp ground where they teach people with disabilities to swim, canoe and dive.To date, they have realized 3 different European projects supported by the EU.

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

Participants should fly to Izmir Airport on the first day of the camp, but must land before 17:00 as the camp leader will meet everyone and transfer them to the campsite at 17:00. Together with the camp leader, you will reach the camp area first by metro and then by public bus. On the last day of the camp all participants will be transferred to the airport after breakfast.
