Work

Kulluoba Mound is a prehistoric settlement on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Volunteers will be helping the professional excavation team will take part in unearthing the history, and also will be helping the environmental arrangement and cleaning of the site, maintenance, basic repairing work, and landscaping.

Due to the hot weather in the summer months, excavations usually start at early morning and end between 2 pm and 3 pm. There maybe changes in working program hours. The exact program will be available till the summer season. Due to the hot weather, work starts early in the morning and ends in the afternoon. Precautions such as sun-proof awnings are in place.

You are not expected to be experienced in this archaeological study, where you can witness history up close.

Accomodation and food

Volunteers will stay in the lodging belonging to the excavation directorate. There is a toilet, bathroom, kitchen and dining hall. Since the excavation area is far from the city, Volunteers can watch the stars on dark nights. Meals for the volunteers will be provided by the municipality. Sometimes volunteers can prepare meals together.

Location and leisure

Küllüoba Mound is 30 km away from Eskişehir, a student city. Eskişehir is one of the modern student cities of Turkey. It can be easily reached by high-speed train from Ankara and Istanbul. Eskişehir is famous for its social life as it is a student city. Volunteers will participate in various cultural trips in Eskişehir and will be able to evaluate their social time with group activities.

Directions to meeting point

Eskişehir Train Station is the meeting point. You can take a flight to Ankara Airport, Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Then you can take a high speed train from Istanbul or Ankara. It takes 1 hour from Ankara and 3 hours from Istanbul by high speed train. Please book your train tickets at least 2 weeks before otherwise it would be very difficult to find a free seat.

Additional comments

This area is an official excavation area. Volunteers will participate in this area with the permission of the Ministry of Culture. There may be some precautions and rules for your safety in the excavation area. The historical artifacts that can be found belong to the Republic of Türkiye. Please follow the requirements.

Work

In the first days of the camp, volunteers will carry out renovation work (painting wall, cleaning building) in activity area for the community. Additionally they will actively participate in harvesting vegetables and cleaning agricultural and water resource areas. Volunteers will support to women in the production of traditional food products.

Accomodation and food

Accommodation will be in flats. There are 2 separate flats for volunteers, for male and female. 3 meals a day will be provided to the volunteers by the people who is living in the village.

Location and leisure

The camp will be held in Kahramanmaraş (city), Göksun (district), Fındık (village). Local trips will be organized as a leisure activity. Events will be organized to bring together the municipality and other institutions.

Project hosted by

Adatepe Women’s Cooperative is a social enterprise founded by women living in the village of Fındık in the Göksun district of Kahramanmaraş province. The cooperative, founded in 2024, aims to produce food products specific to this region by women living here and convey them to other provinces in Turkey.

Directions to meeting point

Volunteers will be picked up from a from the airport or Kahramanmaraş city center on July 12th. It will be announced in next days. Volunteers can find direct flight to Kahramanmaraş Airport from Istanbul or Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

Requirements

There are no specific requirements for this camp, but volunteers will be expected to strenuous physical work.

Many activities await you in Muğla City, a city with full of touristic, historical and natural beauties. This region, full of ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman heritages that you can visit, is also 45 minutes away from the sea. You can enjoy your free time with the excavation team and volunteers in this region where you can enjoy the sea, sand and sun. Plus, we will have educational workshops for you!

Work

Gönüllü Hizmetler Derneği-Childhood Dreams program, organized for children between the ages of 10-14 with limited access, is a social content and child-themed workcamp. A volunteer team consisting of foreign and Turkish volunteers will run a 1-week camp program with under state care children. The program content, activities to be done with the children and the organization of the volunteer team will be planned by the Childhood Dreams camp leader. The camp has been running successfully since 2009 with the same theme.

Accomodation and food

Accommodation will be in shared rooms in the children's village building, male and female volunteers stay in separate rooms. Meals will be prepared and served by the host organization.

Location and leisure

Kalben Children's Village was established by Kalben Association in 2024. The village is on an island in Balıkesir (city). It is possible to organize activities such as swimming and walking tours on the island as part of the program for volunteers.

Project hosted by

Kalben Association is a nonprofit organization established to protect and support the children under state care. It develops projects to ensure equal opportunities for these children their peers and supports individuals who wish to become foster parents. It aims to create spaces for children to have fun and learn and to find permanent solutions to their emotional needs.

Directions to meeting point

Detailed information about reaching the island will be shared with volunteers later. The island can be arrived via sea transportation with connections from Istanbul.

Requirements

The acceptance phase is a 2-step process. As a first step, CVs and motivation letters will be requested from volunteers and as a second step volunteers will be interviewed via Zoom / Google Meet. Experience working with children are preferred.

Work

Ovakorusu Wild Animal Shelter is one of the few facilities in Europe. This facility houses and treats injured or disadvantaged wild animals in nature. The animals are kept in their natural habitat. There are dozens of disadvantaged animals such as bears, wolves, foxes, hawks and owls in the facility.

Volunteers help with the daily feeding of animals. When necessary, they participate in their treatment and vaccination processes with professionals. Environmental cleaning and organization of the facility are also done with volunteers.

Volunteers also participate in repairs and painting of areas in need of repair at the facility. Work with wild animals is carried out with safety precautions. Our volunteers have gained extraordinary experience in this project in the past years.

Accomodation and food

There is a small guesthouse for volunteers in the facility. The guesthouse is for IVS volunteers only. Volunteers stay in rooms for 2-3 people. The guesthouse has a kitchen, bathroom, toilet and air conditioning. There is a common area where volunteers can socialize. Volunteers prepare their meals together in their guesthouse.

Location and leisure

Bursa has many historical beauties as it was the first capital of the Ottoman Empire. This city, built in a forested area, also has natural beauties worth seeing. It can be reached from the airports in Istanbul by shuttle in approximately 3 hours. Many excursions and cultural activities await you in this city, which is also famous for its food. Volunteers can socialize as they wish at the facility.

We are organizing this project for the 4th time with the contributions of the General Directorate of Forestry. The regional manager, Karacabey Municipality, also supports this project. This facility is not a zoo but a rehabilitation center and is closed to outside visitors.

Directions to meeting point

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport is the best option. From this airport, you can reach Bursa Bus Terminal by shuttle, and from there you can reach Karacabey Bus Terminal by bus. There is also a shuttle option from Istanbul Airport, but it is further away.

Work

Volunteers will plant saplings in greenhouses and collect tea leaves in tea gardens. They also will be there to encourage young people living in Ardeşen about volunteering. Working in the harvest of tea leaves is the first step in the journey of black tea. During this voluntary work volunteers will learn the black tea from leaves to in the glass.

Accomodation and food

Accommodation will be in the student dormitory. Male and female volunteers will stay in different dormitory buildings. 3 meals a day will be provided by the municipality's institution.

Location and leisure

The camp will take place in Ardeşen, Rize. Ardeşen has a population of approximately 43 thousand people. Volunteers will have the opportunity to visit the natural beauties of Ardeşen in their free time and will be guests in events with local people.

Ardeşen is a district of Rize(city). Rize, located on the Black Sea coast in the north of Türkiye, is the place where the most tea is produced in the world. Ardeşen Municipality not only being host for this camp but also aims to introduce young people living in Ardeşen to international volunteering opportunities.

You will do a great thing for disadvantaged children by organizing social workshops at the rehabilitation center of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality! Would you like to share your talents such as drama, sports, dance, mind games, theater, fun science and music with our star children? Because it will make them very happy and they will have unforgettable memories about you! If you are interested in social workshops, handicraft workshops, etc., this project is for you! You can also keep an eye on the children at the summer school with a pool owned by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and enjoy the cool water on hot Antalya days!

The municipality may need you in different areas. Please feel free to make additional contributions to them! The work you do may be instructive and unforgettable for you, too.

Accomodation and food

Volunteers will stay in rooms for 2-3 people in the municipality's guesthouse located in the private rehabilitation center. Volunteers can find their meals ready in the cafeteria! Air conditioning, bathroom and toilet, common area and WIFI are available.

Antalya is one of the most touristic cities in Turkey. There are countless historical and natural beauties worth seeing in this region. It has world-famous beaches. Antalya airport is a very busy airport. You can probably find a flight here from where you are or come with a transfer in Istanbul. There are many sightseeing and cultural activities waiting for you in Antalya.

Although it is not mandatory, volunteers who can keep an eye on disadvantaged children and organize social workshops with them are preferred. It would be great if you are talented in theatre, dance, music, fun science, handmade crafts!

Work

The East-West camp is a social camp that the Gönüllü Hizmetler Derneği has been running with young people since 2008. The main purpose of the camp is to bring volunteers together with young people who has limited socio-economic opportunities. In this context, volunteers from Türkiye and internationally who will participate in the camp will be a part of camp organization team.

Accomodation and food

Accommodation will be provided in buildings in the camp area, with separate rooms for female and male volunteers. 3 meals a day will be provided to volunteers by the camp area.

Location and leisure

The camp will be held in Antalya Youth Camp and Education Center. Antalya is the most touristic location in Türkiye and one of the warmest cities. Volunteers will not have the opportunity to make an independent program during the camp, but they can make individual trip/holiday programs in Antalya (or near locations) before or after the camp.

Project hosted by

Antalya Municipality will be host for this camp. The youth camp area built by the municipality for young people will be used by volunteers.

The camping area can be easily reached from Antalya Airport or Antalya bus terminal. Transportation details will be announced incoming days.

Work

The East-West camp is a social camp that the Gönüllü Hizmetler Derneği has been running with young people since 2008. Work

Cancer is a global problem. The 12th International Oncology Days is a large symposium that lasts for a week and hosts politicians, ambassadors and representatives of major healthcare organizations. International Oncology Days platform is the largest civil society event in Turkey, organized to raise public awareness in the fight against cancer. Volunteers will support the preparation of this event and take on various responsibilities during the event. Along with 24 IVS volunteers, nearly 100 local and international volunteers will take part in this event. Workshops will be held with both professionals and patients on many topics such as awareness walks, health policies and youth participation, and patient rights.

In this event supported by social workshops, you will learn a lot about health and cancer and will be able to make a great contribution to the fight against cancer.

Accomodation and food

Volunteers will stay in 2-3 person rooms at the hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be prepared for all volunteers. This project has comfortable conditions so that you can focus on your work and not get distracted from the learning phase.

Location and leisure

Muş is a disadvantaged region located in the east of Turkey. However, it hosts many historical and natural beauties. There will be many social and cultural activities waiting for you in this project that you will participate in the city center. In addition, group activities with local and international volunteers will relieve your fatigue.
