Travail

The camp is designed as a place for socializing, mutual communication and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities with volunteers from the regular population, who come from different cultures and environments.
Volunteers will work in the "Oasis" on everyday activities with the users of the house. Main activities are activities that our users also engage in daily life: maintenance and arrangement of work and living space; tidying up the yard and plot; pulling weeds and working in the garden (planting, hoeing, watering, crop care and harvesting); sorting of the obtained fruits and vegetables - separation for feeding in the camp, for distribution to socially disadvantaged members of the local community, for livestock and for compost; feeding of animals and maintenance of premises where animals stay; going to the local environment to empty recycling containers with PET packaging, pressing the packaging, visiting vulnerable families from the local community.

Logement et nourriture

Camp Oasis Golubinci gathers people of good will who are ready to help and provide support in life and work to adults with developmental disabilities. Oasis Golubinci is a living and working community for people with disabilities, and in the Oasis itself there is accommodation for volunteers and users. Volunteers will be accommodated in houses that have all the necessary equipment (sufficient number of bathrooms, kitchen, dining room), in double and triple rooms. All houses/accommodation units are in the same yard, so volunteers are directed to each other, although they may be in separate houses. Given that there are 4 different kitchens, there are opportunities for volunteers to participate in the preparation of food themselves, and the association can provide the necessary food, according to our capabilities. Volunteers will be provided with bedding.

Situation, loisirs

The camp would take place in Golubinci (a village/town in the municipality of Stara Pazova), 8 km from the town of Stara Pazova. The town has about 5,000 inhabitants, it is a multicultural environment, the majority of the population is of the Orthodox faith, but the Catholic population is also very represented. In the center of the town there are Orthodox and Catholic churches, a supermarket, a post office, a school, a kindergarten, a health center, cafes... It is interesting that the castle Schloss (from the 18th century) is located there, which is accompanied by stories about curses, infidelities and punishments. It has significant architectural and historical value because Karađorđe Petrović and composer Ludwig Van Beethoven stayed there.
Various manifestations are held in the town itself throughout the year: Cat Festival (masquerade ball and carnival), Days of Rosemary, Earth Day... During the volunteers' stay, the celebration of Petrovdan - the holiday of the place - will be held, during which numerous outdoor activities will be organized and a fair in which enjoyed by all the locals.

Partenaire

The association "Living togehter" was founded by a group of parents with the aim of improving the quality of life of their children - persons with intellectual disabilities, families and the entire social community since 1997. We have extensive experience in working with people with disabilities, as well as organizing various events.
The mission of the Association is to make people with developmental disabilities visible, present and active in all segments of social life, to affirm their abilities and individuality, to promote their rights and enable them to live a dignified and fulfilling life. The values of the association are equality and equal opportunities, commitment, tolerance, solidarity, development of partnership as well as permanent education for all.

Young Researchers of Serbia (YRS) was founded in 1976. Our main aims are environmental protection and education, promotion of sustainable development, work with young people in an international context, promotion of scientific creativity and voluntarism and its values. Voluntary Service of Serbia is a volunteer exchange service center founded in 1990 as one of the sectors of YRS.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

There is a direct train that takes around 45 min from Belgrade to the village of Golubinci and it operates several times a day. The farm is easily reachable from there.
Also, from Belgrade bus station there are numerous departures to Stara Pazova (the journey lasts around 40 min), and from there many local buses go to Golubinci (10 min).
More details will be provided in the Infosheet about reaching the camp.

Remarques

Previous experience of working with people in situation of developmental disabilities is not necessary, however you should be motivated to spend time with them and help organize activities.

Keep in mind that it can be quite hot in the summer, prepare adequate clothes a good mosquito repellent and shoes for working outside.

Travail

Second oldest workcamp in YRS focuses on the nature protected reserve "Kraljevac" and what it has to offer to the locals and visitors. It is located right next to Deliblato sands, the largest sand area in Europe. During the day, volunteers will work on the path next to the lake; fixing the benches and other equipment; cleaning up the bank of the lake as well as setting up a fishing place. They will participate in educational workshops with local children. During leisure hours volunteers will have a chance to go on boat rides get to know surrounding nature.

Logement et nourriture

All volunteers and camp leaders will be accommodated in the Education and Research Centre in Special Nature Reserve Kraljevac 2-bed, 3-bed and 5-bed rooms (linen included, sleeping bag is not required) with shared toilets and showers. Volunteers will be provided with a small kitchen with cooking facilities and groceries to cook for themselves.

Situation, loisirs

On the edge of Deliblatska Pescara (Deliblato Sands), in the midst of the Vojvodina plains, in the picturesque village of Deliblato, lies an oasis of peace Special Nature Reserve Kraljevac. Lake Kraljevac with its floating and permanently anchored islands, surrounding reedbeds, woodlands, meadows, and pastures supports a rich diversity of plant and animal life. Special Nature Reserve Kraljevac is a place of unique natural beauty where floating islands moved by strong winds across the surface of water continually change the surrounding landscape. Floating and permanently anchored islands are remnants of lowland peat bogs, globally one of the rarest and most threatened habitats, and represent one of Serbia’s last refuges of the relict plant community of Marsh Fern and Grey Willow.
Volunteers will have a chance to explore the picturesque nature reserve in boats and also explore the oldest sand desert in Europe Deliblatska pescara.

Partenaire

The Sport Fishing Association “Deliblato Lake” was established in 2000 with the aim to promote sport fishing and nature conservation among a local community and young people in Deliblato. It manages Special Nature Reserve Kraljevac that was declared “the first category protected area of greatest national importance” by the Government of the Republic of Serbia in 2009. Since then, for the sixth time in its history the Sport Fishing Association Deliblato Lake along with the Young Researchers of Serbia are organizing an international volunteer eco camp.

The closest towns to village Deliblato are Kovin (16 km), Pančevo (37 km), and Belgrade (58 km). You can reach Special Nature Reserve Kraljevac by bus from Belgrade to Kovin and then from Kovin to Deliblato. More details will be provided in the Infosheet.

Remarques

Keep in mind that you will be working during the summer, appropriate clothes and sun protection are necessary, as well as a good mosquito repellent.

Travail

This workcamp will be practically two in one (two for "the price" of one, magic, hehe).

First part (07.08.-11.08.) will be all about the Windmill festival, which is very rich with content. The volunteers will be helping out to the organizers and the other volunteers in the preparation of everything (stage, fences, cleaning the field), because the festival will start on the 8th. During the festival, volunteers will help with the tasks (sell the tickets at the entrance, inform the guests, move things, things that need to be moved, keep the space without trash, help the musicians maybe, why not, etc...) for around 4 hours a day. All the rest-enjoying time!

During the second, more calm part (11.08.-18.08.), volunteers will be planting an alley of flowers, mow the lawn, sand and paint wooden sculptures in the local park as well as benches and gates, then prepare the ground for the new statue in the Memorial Park. In the landscape house, wooden objects will be painted with a protective material, to preserve the texture. If time allows, there will be a space to create new totems and put them in the park.

Logement et nourriture

Here, since there are two parts, two different types of accommodation will be organized (it is an advantage and even privilege to have them both, when you think profoundly).

First part will be under the tents in the festival zone. Tents will be provided for the volunteers, but if anyone wants extra-comfort, it is completely acceptable to bring your own tent (seriously, haha). Meals will be prepared together.

For the second part, the accommodation will be in a local boarding house in rooms with 2-5 beds and a bathroom. Bedding is provided in the guesthouse. Meals are provided in the dining hall of the local centre, 3 times a day. Also, the dinners will be made with the help of everyone in the courtyard of the boarding house, with local traditional food.

Keep in mind that there will probably be a very limited internet connection, but we will see what can be done to use it from the locals without their permission (no, no, we will find alternatives if urgent).

Situation, loisirs

Orom (festival part) and Totovo Selo (renovation part) are two neighboring villages (with almost completely Hungarian population) in the Kanjiža municipality, in the North Banat District, Vojvodina province. They are surrounded by natural beauty with landscaped surroundings and friendly hosts. Both settlements were founded at the end of the 19th century.

Orom was organized around railway station, important crossroad and the school. Many houses, stores, but also windmills were built gradually. It is agricultural area and many people are having farms with pigs and cows (that are taken care of with soul). Today it is well connected with Subotica (Szabadka), that is important center of that part.

Leisure activities on during the festival, there will be offered plenty of activities where volunteers can take part. Many workshops will be offered, collective reading, photography, potential circus productions, games for kids, cooking lessons, dance, and sometimes rides in the local chariots.

When it comes to Totovo Selo (literally- Tot's village), Tót József at that time (at the threshold of the 20th century) wealthy local landlord, donated 72 houses without any compensation dividing his property among his wage earners and workers.

One of the most interesting things there is the model of the Danube, which is built together with the former participants of the camp. In the village there are 5 parks, a barn, an autochthonous Hungarian breed of sheep and a farmhouse. In the village, a kettle and brandy festival is organized during the summer, and during the year a festival of folk customs is always organized, related to the date.

Few excursions to the surrounding places and towns will be organized (including going to the beach at river Tisa).

Please bring a positive attitude, meeting people from other cultures of this Serbian-Hungarian village is really important to the host.

Partenaire

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

Subotica is the biggest city nearby. From there, the local buses and the trains go to Totovo selo. Details about the schedules of the means of transport will be put in the Infosheet.

Remarques

This is the 25th year (big jubilee) that this camp has been active in YRS and the long-lasting tradition speaks to itself. After 20 years we spotted the Glossy Ibis, bird that is so important to this wetland area. It is one of the few places in Europe where you can see it and that's why the role of volunteers is so crucial in helping to maintain the area.
The work consists of taking out invasive species and bushes while clearing up the wetland soil that enables it to be inhabited. During the workcamp, the participants will have educational workshops on preservation of wetlands and their role in the ecosystem.

Logement et nourriture

The volunteers will stay in the two renovated ethno houses in Kupinovo, located in Ethno Park (https://www.turizampecinci.rs/туристичке-атракције/етно-парк-купиново/).
The food for participants will be prepared together with the host on the workcamp, from groceries that will be provided for them.

Situation, loisirs

Kupinovo is a village located in the municipality of Pećinci, Serbia. As of 2011 census, the village has 1,866 inhabitants. It is near the famous biodiversity area, the Obedska bara. Kupinovo is a place rich in cultural and historical sights. The most interesting are: Kupinik Fortress, a medieval fortification from the 14th century, the Church of Saint Luke from the half of the 15th century, the Church of Mother Angelina from the 16th century and the ethno complex with objects of folk architecture.
Big river Sava is in the surroundings, so walks to there can also be one relaxing leisure activity.

You will definitely be a part of history that fought for their nature in this area.
Work will be divided into cleaning and marking of two paths that lead up to the highest point of Stara planina ("The old mountain" in Serbian) as well as the local natural swimming pool "Zenski vir". Also, you will help to clean the spot for creating small picnic area at the end of the first path, at the top, where the view on the surroundings is magnificent.
Taking care of the river will also be your task during these days.
Second part will be the support of organizing the festival for nature lovers - arranging the centre of village, setting up the stage and info counters while on the day of the festival, volunteers will support the workers in handing out flyers and in the whole production.

Logement et nourriture

Accommodation for volunteers will be provided in the adapted building of the agricultural cooperative "Topli Do" - the mountain lodge Topli Do. Accommodation is provided for volunteers in two four-bed rooms. Sleeping is on military beds, blankets and bedding are provided. The building of the mountain lodge itself is a village building adapted for these purposes and is used as a lodge for adventurers and mountaineers throughout the year. The home has a toilet, a bathroom and a shower with hot water. Our local partner, the "Stojanovic" farm, prepares meals for volunteers and other festival participants during the camp and the festival. Meals will be served in the canteen on the premises of the agricultural cooperative Topli Do.

Situation, loisirs

The village Topli Do is about an hour's drive from Pirot. Topli Do, one of the most remote villages of the municipality of Pirot, is located in the Stara planina nature park under its highest peak, Midzor (2,169m).
It is located in the Stara Planina Nature Park. The village is one of the most authentic villages on Stara planina. Only 7 km from the village is the peak Babin zub (1,759 m) and the famous ski resort Jabučko ravnište on Stara planina. The village is reached from the direction of the village of Temska and you pass through the canyon of the river Temštica ("Little Colorado"), certainly one of the most beautiful and attractive canyons of this type in Serbia. What makes Topli Do and its surroundings stand out from other old mountain villages is the abundance of waterfalls, unique in many ways in Serbia. A special attraction about 4 km from the village is the Piljski waterfall - 64 m. About 8 km from the village there is another interesting waterfall, Kurtulski waterfall - 27 m.

Partenaire

The association "I love Topli Do" aims to preserve nature and develop Stara Planina and nurture the spirit of freedom of the people of Stara Planina. "I love Topli Do" is a community of people who love the beauty of untouched nature, Topli Do and Stara planina. Our wish is to protect Topli Do as a natural oasis of freedom for nature and people. To encourage the development of tourism and a healthy way of life and thinking in Serbia. One of the goals of the association is to prevent the village from dying further, by restoring new life through various projects. The association brings together Toplodolci (people born in Topli Do and those who trace their origins to this village), but also includes Toplodolstvo - friends and enthusiasts from all over Serbia and the region. United, we want to renew life in the countryside and return to tradition and untouched nature in order to seek inspiration and energy for modern challenges.

Young Researchers of Serbia (YRS) was founded in 1976. Our main aims are environmental protection and education, promotion of sustainable development, work with young people in an international context, promotion of scientific creativity and voluntarism and its values. Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

Closest airport terminal is in Nis from where low coast airlines have connections with several European cities. However much better connections have Belgrade and Sofia. From Belgrade you can go by bus directly to Pirot or firstly to Nis, and after that to Pirot. From Sofia airport you can catch a bus to Nis and then continue to Pirot, also. Topli Do is 35km from Pirot and when you receive the Infosheet there will be more info about arriving to the meeting point from Pirot.

Remarques

Please keep in mind that the nights can be cold in the mountains. Also, it is good to have raincoat in case of heavy rain, that can happen in this area. Hiking boots are preferable, but even strong, working shoes can do it.

The camp actually begins with the preparation of the camp and setting up the tent, when those who have not had the opportunity until then will learn how to assemble the tent and the rules for setting it up. There will be a training workshop where we will talk about public speaking, how to overcome stage fright and how to put together a good presentation for a good lecture. After that, volunteers in groups of two will choose a topic (with the help of professional associates) that they will work on in the first three days of the camp, in order to present the chosen topic for the next four days. The topics will be aimed at solving the problems that we have already mentioned.

Work will include mountain trails clean up and the participants will have the possibility of creating posters and involve the local youth to join them.

Logement et nourriture

Volunteers will sleep in tents, on mats, which will be provided for them, but it is preferable to bring their own bag. Most of the tents will be for three and four people, but we will also bring one tent for ten people. Volunteers can bring their camping gear which includes all of the above. In case some people do not have their own bags, we can provide them.

There will be three or four people on duty every day, who will be in charge of preparing, setting up and serving meals. They will certainly not do it alone, but with the support of camp leaders and researchers.

Situation, loisirs

Povlen mountain is situated in Western Serbia, 30 km from the city of Valjevo, and around 120 km from Belgrade, the capital. Its evergreen forests, as well as deciduous, alongside picturesque meadows, leave mark in everybody's heart. Also, the mountain offers many hiking opportunities, which end with breath-taking views from the top. Three highest summits that could be reached easily are: "Veliki Povlen" (Big Povlen; 1271m), "Srednji Povlen" (Middle Povlen; 1301m) and "Mali Povlen" (Small Povlen; 1347m; interesting fact that "The big one" is not the highest, but "The small one"). Also, the summit "Jablanika" is very near the accommodation, so there is another option for relaxing excursion during the free time.

It is good to mention that there are few monasteries (even from medieval period) in the surroundings, so the visits to those jewels of the area may also be arranged.

There will be, as well, few lectures given by the experienced mountaineers about cultural and natural treasures of the area.

Partenaire

For 54 years, the association of researchers "Vladimir Mandić -
Manda" has been gathering young people from Valjevo and beyond who have the desire to learn something more than what they learn in school, but certainly in a much nicer way.
Our goals are initiation and support in organizing educational programs for young people, popularization of scientific research work and creativity among young people, encourage young people to be active and take part in organized activities, raising awareness of the need to protect and contribute to the preservation of the environment and historical-cultural heritage in the context of sustainable development, promotion and support for the development of volunteerism as well as contribution to solving problems in the local community, better understanding of peoples and cultures, friendship and peace, creating conditions for improving the position of young people and implementing youth initiatives, as well as advocating for adequate verification and affirmation of results achieved by young people.

Young Researchers of Serbia (YRS) was founded in 1976. Our main aims are environmental protection and education, promotion of sustainable development, work with young people in an international context, promotion of scientific creativity and voluntarism and its values. From Belgrade to Valjevo there are many buses and trains throughout the day (distance: 90 km approximately; duration of trip: between 1h 15 minutes and 2 hours). In Valjevo, there will be organized transport to the camp location on the mountain.

Remarques

It is good to be prepared to sleep in tents and to report all allergies, injuries (if there are any). It is important to be at the exact time to the meeting point due to organized transportation. Detailed information will be written in the Infosheet.

Volunteers will have to do several activities in order to make festival possible.
Firstly, they will arrange the necessary space (collecting and taking away of trash and cleaning the area-mowing and removing the branches, making the terrain plain).
Then they will prepare the materials for the workshops (design and paint banners, create and organize "Photo-area", help in making stage props for the battle arena, decorate the place).
They will also assist to the organizers of workshops (the art of sculpture, heraldic, medieval board games). There is even a possibility that they lead the workshop, but that depends on their previous experience.
The participants will also do some logistical work-informing and directing the visitors, promotion in the town center.
At the end, their task will be, also, to remove the materials after the manifestation.

Logement et nourriture

The volunteers will be accommodated in the rooms of the "Eco center Radulovacki", where are the rooms with beds and linen. The facility also has bathrooms, as well as space for the work and free time.
Volunteers will have lunch in the nearby restaurant, and breakfast as well as dinner will be prepared by themselves with the food that will be provided.

Situation, loisirs

The town of Sremski Karlovci is located in Vojvodina (northern part of Serbia), between Fruska gora (Fruska mountain) and the Danube river.
It is one of the most important centers of Serbian history and culture. In it there are-First Serbian Grammar school (high school), First school for the priests, Chapel of Peace (where the famous Treaty of Karlowitz between European forces and Ottoman empire was signed 1699.), as well as many churches and monuments.
Beside mentioned natural pearls of Fruska gora and Danube, there are also "Koviljsko-Petrovaradinski rit" (internationally protected swamp area for the birds), parc "The Court Garden", and "Stražilovo" picnic area.
