Arbeit

During the two weeks, the work will be divided into three parts. The first one will include helping in preparations of the festival at the construction site with building and organizing the infrastructure (info point, canteen, eateries, workshop spaces and so on). We will also put some work in cleaning up (cutting grass, picking thrash) and decorating the festival area with decorations that we'll prepare during the workcamp by ourselves. And if we will have enough time, we will also help the local community at their bungalows situated nearby with some minor garden works or house repairs. We'll be more than happy to meet new, creative and open minded people and we are going to encourage volunteers to come up with their own ideas not only to improve the festival, but giving them an opportunity to improve themselves as well. Second part is to help during the festival. This will include shifts at the bar, info point or kitchen, keeping the general tidiness at the festival area or solving technical or any other issues that might occur during the event. The third part is to clean up the festival area, that includes dismantling the constructions, taking down the decorations and picking up the trash.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The volunteers will get a place to sleep in one of the few summer houses or a common-room located at the festival area for the whole duration of the workcamp. There will be some beds, mattresses, sheets and blankets available as well, although we advise you to take your own sleeping bags with you. There will be also a lot of space if anyone is willing to put a tent. Each day some of the workcamp participants are going to be designated to prepare VEGETARIAN meals for everyone from the provided ingredients. Please keep in mind that only vegetarian food is available!

Lage und Freizeit

The festival is taking place at camping resort "Na Szlaku Brdy", situated at the outskirts of one of the biggest cities in central Poland - Bydgoszcz, about 10km from the centre of the city (you can get there by public transport from the city centre, the bus stop is 10-15 minutes by walk from the festival area) The name of the resort is connected with the name of the biggest river that flow through Bydgoszcz - Brda, which is also flowing right next to the festival area. All of that surrounded by the beautiful forests, which makes the place a perfect spot to have some rest from urban life. Of course it's not only about work. In your spare time you can go for a walk in the woods, hang out with your new friends around the campfire, take part in workshops or even rent a kayak. You can also take a bus that will take you directly to the city center to take a walk around Bydgoszcz, which is known for having a lot of historic buildings in the area of the Old Town.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Boski Fest is a four day event with concerts, workshops and discussions. It is not only a festival, but more of a gathering of positive people that want to share their good energy with the world. BRWI Foundation that is responsible for making this happen is a group of old friends who enjoy organizing such an event and take nothing but satisfaction in return. The entire project is non-profit. The money required to organize the festival comes mainly form the city hall and crowdfunding campaign where every donation is rewarded with a ticket according to our 'Pay as you feel' principle. Almost every construction at the festival is from recycled materials such as old advertising banners, wooden pallets, straw bales and so on. One man's trash is another man's building material! The festival is open for everyone who want to share their time in peaceful environment with positive people around - including children and elderly people, for whom the entrance is always free of charge (<10 and 60<). If we got your attention, we encourage you to watch aftermovies of Boski Fest from previous years just so you know what it's all about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1edBENxbi70

Please send us a short motivation letter with a few words about you, why are you interested in our workcamp and what skill set can you provide. A lot of tasks include using tools, so ability to use them properly will be a big advantage. Creativity and manual skills will be also highly valued, when it comes to making decorations and any new ideas about the festival. You need to be prepared for hard work and possibly getting dirty, so grab some old clothes that you could toss after the workcamp.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

The workcamp is organized together with the Social Care Center „Na Przedwiosniu”, which was established to care for intellectually disabled people. At the moment around 160 patients live in the centre. The presence of international volunteers greatly helps breaking the wall of social isolation that our patients experience. This social exclusion negatively influences both their physical and mental states, but thanks to our international volunteers, the patients have the opportunity to interact with different cultures, traditions and languages.

Arbeit

During the two weeks, the tasks in which we need help from our volunteers will include: - taking care of participants of our project during the breaks (there will be one long break during a day which requires organisation of some games and activities for kids) - delivering food from the local shop each morning of the project and serving lunch during a long break; - taking care of the participants in the bus which will transport them to and from workshops; - helping with making scenography, building infrastructure in the forest where we are going to work and perform our final show; - preparation before the final show; - cleaning after the project. We will also encourage our volunteers to come up with their own ideas to make the project better and do our best to help them come true.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The volunteers will get a place to sleep at a primary school in the village where the workshops for the kids will also take place. They will be allowed to use one of the classrooms, the kitchen and toilets. However, there are no showers at school, and the volunteers will have to go to the nearby parish house (300m) to take a shower. The volunteer’s room will be fitted with gym mattresses on the floor so it is necessary for them to take their own sleeping bags or blankets and pillows. There will also be a lot of space outside if anyone is willing to put up a tent. Some of the workcamp participants are going to be designated to prepare meals for everyone from the provided ingredients, everyday. Ingredients for vegetarian and vegan (if requested) diet will be also available.

Lage und Freizeit

The project takes place in Zambski Kościlene. It is a small village in central Poland by the river Narew. The beautiful surroundings of the village and the fact that it is not far from Warsaw (1,5 hour-drive) are the reasons why there is a huge number of people who spend their holidays there. Consequently, there are two communities living together in such a small village during the sum-mer time. Zambski Kościelne can offer various activities for hikers, cyclist and all of those who appreciate the beauty of nature. There are a lot of walking and cycling paths in nearby forests and water activities like canoeing or water bikes are also available. Summer evenings can be spent by the river bank around a campfire sharing stories with friends or watching stars which are easily visible in the sky during the night. For those who want to visit some other places in Poland, there are two options available. One of them is a short visit to Pułtusk, 15 km from Zambski Kościelne. It is a rather small town and seems to be a ‘nothing special one’ when, you drive through it. Surprisingly, it hides a real treasure inside which is the old part of the town. You can find the longest market in Europe surrounded by picturesque buildings there and a castle located by the river. The other option is a one-day trip to the capital of Poland - Warsaw, easily reached from Pułtusk by bus.

‘The whispers of forest’ is a two-week artistic project with kids and youngsters from a small village in central Poland. This will be the second edition of the theatrical project in that village after the previous one in 2017 called ‘Flows’ (more information available on facebook: Lato w Teatrze Zambski Kościelne’). This year we are going to focus on the topic on nearby forests to find their hidden secrets. As a group of pedagogs we believe in the power of alternative education. By exploring local surroundings, we want to show vast opportunities which are available for our participants in their vicinity and encourage them to look at the areas as they have never seen them before. We truly believe that by relying on kids’ innate interest in discovering things, will to learn and cooperate with others we can enhance their learning abilities and support their self-confidence. During two-week work we are going to explore local surroundings to find inspirations and ideas which can be used to create a final performance showing kids’ own projection of forest. The work will be divided into 5 groups: I. Forest kindergarten - for the youngest kids II. Forest editorial office - documentation and promotion of the project III. Theatrical group IV. Musical group V. Scenography group

We are looking for open-minded, creative and easygoing people who are able to adjust to dynamic work which requires a lot of positive energy, thinking outside the box and hard work. The most important matter for us is to work with people who are eager to follow children’s ideas and their interests. Since we are going to work with kids and youngsters possessing police certificate is essential however, having pedagogy background will be a big advantage but, it is not necessary. Manual skills will also be highly valued, when it comes to making decorations and scenography for the final performance. Proper knowledge of using tools will be also a huge advantage as we are going to build shacks and other constructions in the forest. MOTIVATION LETTER which should consist answers to following questions is required: 1. Who are you, what do you do and what are your interests? (Let us know something about you before the beginning of the project) 2. Why do you want to take part in the project?
