The volunteering work camp will take place in the Berbele parish of Vecumnieki district. 12 young people will participate. Within the framework, an international group of young people will improve the environment next to the Youth House, as well as the Youth House itself. As part of our volunteering camp, we want to raise the issue of environmental sustainability, so we will build our community garden on the principles of permaculture. Volunteers during the camp will create permaculture beds for herbs and teas, create greenery, make the surrounding area a recreational area, campfire sites and benches. The youth house will be equipped with a sustainable heating system - a rocet mass heater, which will be created by an experienced craftsman (works related to clay preparation, stone reading, masonry, etc.). Volunteers will work five days a week, 6-7hours each day. Organizing daily life - cooking, cleaning, leisure, socializing with the local community - is also an integral part of volunteering work camp. We also plan to involve the local community in volunteering work camp activities, from working together to cross-cultural activities.
Unterkunft und Verpflegung
Living conditions are very basic. Volunteers will be accommodated in the building of the farm – in the attic under the roof. Sleeping will be on the mattresses or beds. There will be only one common room for sleeping. Sometimes it could be necessary to stay in tents if the work requires. Toilets and washing facilities will be provided. Cooking will be done by volunteers themselves in the kitchen or on a campfire. Volunteers should bring their sleeping bags. Do not forget some traditional or typical food from your home country for the international evening.
