Arbeit

Participants will make artisanal metal-made figures. They will represent the Patrimonito character and be installed at different key locations on the island for introducing the World Heritage site and the World Heritage Convention. Participants will also organize educational activities about World Heritages for local youth and they will learn their responsibility. Also, participants will clean Getbol along the coast with a local youth to preserve Getbol and environment.
2 workcamps (IWO-71 and 72) will be held together in different islands which is connected with the bridge. They will have the common activities sometimes during a project.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

Participants will share the rooms In the local guest house. Toilet and shower are available in the guest house.
Meals are provided & Cooked by participants

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Getbol(Tidal Flats) in Shinan has been appointed as a World heritage in 2022. This site exhibits a complex combination of geological, oceanographic and climatologic conditions that have led to the development of coastal diverse sedimentary systems. It is very necessary to promote Getbol further to the public and local youth to raise public awareness about the value of Getbol and World Heritage.
This project will focus on raising public awareness of the value of World Heritage itself and preserving Getbol and the island environment by cleaning the coast and making promotional statues. People will be exposed to Partrimonito and World Heritage campaign and local youth will get education about them through volunteer activities.

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

Participants will meet at the lobby of the Mokpo KTX Station. The train or bus runs frequently from Seoul to Mokpo a day. It takes about 2 hours and a half by KTX train(Fast train). After gathering at the station, all participants will move together to the project site by the bus and ferry. The transportation fare from meeting point to project site by charted bus and ferry will be covered. It will take about 35 minutes by ferry from the port to the project site.

Participants will renovate the uncared harbour facility with an artist and local youth. They will organize the educational activities about understanding different cultures in the school. Participants are required to bring the materials and ideas for the activities. They will also help local elderly people by cleaning and keep the house in order. They will invite local people to share international food during a project.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Geumodo belonging to the Yeosu is well known with the beautiful views, tracking and dynamic cultures in Korea. Geumodo is surrounded by wonderful ocean views and environment. The island is also suffering from depolulation and aging soceity. Villages are looking for hands for their public facilites but sometimes it is not cared enough. There are many temporarly visitors for their own purpose but they don’t give attention to their needs in deed.
Participants will renovate the public facilities in the villages in cooperation with local people and provide the educational activities for local youth in the school.

Participants will meet at Yeosu Ferry Terminal. The train or bus runs frequently from Seoul to YEOSU EXPO KTX station in a day and meeting point is just 10min away by public bus. It takes about 2 hours and a half by KTX train(Fast train) from Seoul to Yeosu. After gathering at the meeting point, all participants will move together to the project site by ferry. The transportation from the meeting point to the project site by ferry will be provided. It will take about 90 minutes by a ferry from the port to the project site.

Gaedo are famous in Yeosu with the tracking and makgeolli (Rice Wine) thanks to the beautiful coastal tracking road and clean water in islands.
Islands are also suffering from depolulation and aging soceity like other local area. Villages are looking for hands for their public facilites but sometimes it is not cared enough. There are many temporarly visitors for their own purpose but they don’t give attention to their needs in deed.
