This project has become annually and continuously project organized by IIWC in answering the needs of preserving the coastal side of North Java Sea in Mangkang. About 1,1 km costal line in Mangkang area is now in danger due to the abrasion of the sea, cutting mangrove by local people and heavy force from the river flows. Mangkang is the project site for IIWC World Tanabata Action of CCIVS UNESCO and Climate4Peace of SCI International. Project: Preserving natural diversity and sea shore from the abrasion because of no more mangrove and too strong waves from the ocean will be the main focus of the camp. She managed to create education for women in her time, because at that time a woman was not allowed to continue her education if she was 12 years old. Since that age, Kartini was married by his parents. Equipped with embroidery, batik, and sewing equipment. She started her determination to open an education school for women. Therefore, the existence of this program is to arouse the enthusiasm of learning for women and to preserve the culture that is the ancestral heritage and spread to all people to be able to protect it.

Even so, people living nearby the sites were sees Borobudur only as a tourist attraction. Local community, who supposed to be the first guard line on sustainability preservation activity, mostly works as vendor in Borobudur Temple Compound. Starting in 2016, collaborated with local community and stakeholder, we want to raise awareness of local people to be more involved in preserving their own cultural site. We believe that Borobudur Temple Compound should be preserved not only by visitor who come to Borobudur, but also people living nearby.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Mangkang is a fisher and farmer village located in west Semarang. Before, many kinds of fish and shrimps are living there, but now since the condition of the mangrove forest is getting worse, it is quite difficult to find the species anymore. Fisherman also needs to go further to the ocean to fish and it means much work they need to do to earn money. This project implemented by collaboration between IIWC Indonesia and local community named BIOTA Foundation. http://biotafoundation.blogspot.com/. Aims: To initiate the project of protecting the sea shore by planting mangroves and, to increase the awareness of the local people, the fisherman, and local students to protect their environment as well as their future.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Background: This project was Initiated since 2006 by cooperation with NOVIB IDO which concerned in the prevention of STI and HIV/AIDS in Tegalrejo and Sukosari the two prostitution areas in Semarang uptown. After this pilot project, this project turns to focus more on the education especially highlighting the mental side of the children in the prostitution. This is due to the lack of concern on this issue from all stakeholders in Tegalrejo prostitution area while IIWC found out that there is big chance for IIWC to address the children issue. Project: Tegalrejo project at moment is the follow up of workcamps that regularly organized between IIWC and NICE Japan by setting up a shelter. This shelter is used for children to learn their school subject and to gain soft skills such as handicraft, dance, singing, etc assisted by volunteers. This year we start to set up international group to support this project and make it better in the future. Aims: 1. To promote or introduce the shelter among the local youth or students nearby 2. To motivate the children about the importance of education 3. To organize activities for the children in prostitution area 4. To exchange culture between participants, local people, and local students
