Zsámboki Biokert is a four hectare, family scale organic fruit and vegetable garden located in the village of Zsámbok, Hungary, about 50 km from Budapest. The team has been managing the garden since 2012, and provides organic produce to families and consumers in the Godollo and Budapest area. Our team in the garden understands that it is very important to remain open to those wanting to learn more about our farm, agroecology and regenerative organic agriculture. We believe that it is our responsibility to spread interest in environmentally conscious farming by educating our customers, fellow community members and partners, and young people. We try to do this by engaging directly with those interested at each location where we sell our products, and also by keeping our garden open to visitors, students and community members. Our garden has been the site of numerous practical training courses, customer and student group visits, research studies and international projects. We have hosted many guests, students and growers from around the world at our farm. It is challenging to manage the daily responsibilities of the farm while making time for guests, but transparency and outreach are a priority for us, and will remain so in the future. We work in cooperation with Cargonomia, a local food distribution and cargo bicycle logistics center in Budapest, who has collaborated with us in the past in organizing interactive workshops for youth which we have hosted on the farm.
