Work

Sweet games are made of… wood! Join us for 2 weeks of creative adventure where you can bring your ideas to life. You'll be making games out of wood and other salvaged materials, to liven up your afternoons and evenings at the site.
You'll have the chance to show off the typical games of your homeland and learn those that have kept Occitan culture alive for decades. Do you know cocagne, or quilles? We can't wait to show them off to you at the community fair we're planning during this project. So come along with your ideas and the desire to create media that promote intercultural discovery. By the way, do you know how these games are made? You'll be supervised by our technical supervisor, who will reveal the secrets of carpentry and guide you through every stage of production, right through to decorating and testing the games.
In addition to this main project, we'll be harvesting vegetables from our kitchen garden, as well as building plant dryers - invaluable tools that will enable you to learn techniques for processing the products you harvest.
Heads or tails? Either way, come to Citrus and you'll come out a winner!

Accomodation and food

You'll be accommodated in 8- to 12-person, single-sex collective tents with floors and beds. Amenities include dry toilets and solar-powered showers. A pedal-powered washing machine is available for laundry. There is no wifi connection.
You will take part in the upkeep of the premises and in the preparation of meals, accompanied by an educational supervisor in the kitchen. Choices will be made collectively to ensure a balanced diet based on your tastes and local seasonal produce.

Location and leisure

Near the village of Laguépie (82250), in the Aveyron gorges, 100 km northeast of Toulouse.

Leisure activities: In the heart of the Aveyron gorges, you'll be able to take advantage of all the possibilities offered by the Tarn-et-Garonne region: swimming in the Viaur river, accessible on foot, visits to medieval villages, kayaking, visits to Albi cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site. With the support of the entertainment team, you'll also organize activities such as musical evenings and Olympics. Last but not least, you'll take part in events where you can meet the local population: international meals, intercultural games, film screenings, traditional festivals, etc.

Project hosted by

Join the Citrus association's major project and help renovate the future international reception center in Laguépie. For over ten years, international volunteers have been building, renovating, imagining and giving shape to a large-scale project.
On the heights of the village of Laguépie, the Citrus association is a place of sharing and encounters, where young people from all over the world come to contribute to the renovation and fitting-out of the international welcome center. Since 2012, the association's buildings have been located in the former hamlet of La Mayounelle: offices, a communal living space and an activity room, all surrounded by fields, a green theater and a vegetable garden. Accompanied by experienced leaders, you'll live at the heart of the association and share daily life with the Citrus team and other volunteers on site.

Directions to meeting point

Take the directtrain from Toulouse to Laguépie. The leaders will be wainting for you at the station in the afternoon.

Work

Last year, the association initiated a shared pond project on its site in order to provide a response to periods of drought. You will therefore participate in the preparation, installation and filling of the pond (creation of gutters, installation of the liner, etc.) The second week you will participate in the organization of the puppet festival by creating a theatrical event. This project will allow you to use your creativity and your sense of responsibility. You can find the schedule and achievements of previous projects on the association s website: https://basenaturevercors.org/realisations/

Accomodation and food

You will be accommodated in tents on the site of la Grange aux loups and you will have sanitary facilities and showers on site. An outdoor kitchen and a living space will also be at your disposal. To facilitate relations within the group, cell phones, by mutual agreement, will only be available for one hour per day (usually at shower time). With the help of your counselors, you will actively participate in the organization of daily life: preparation of meals, washing up, tidying up, cleaning, maintenance of the garden. As much as possible, the meals will be prepared with local and organic products corresponding to the particular attention paid by the Base Nature Vercors association to the management of resources and waste on the site and to the origin of the food. From this point of view, you will certainly reduce your consumption of meat and thus your impact on the planet. Lovers of outdoor life, this workcamp is made for you

Location and leisure

Located in the heart of the Vercors Regional Natural Park, the Base Nature Vercors is located a few kilometers from the center of Vassieux-en-Vercors. A mountain village located at an altitude of more than 1,000m, it was a major site of the French Resistance during the Second World War. A museum dedicated to the history of the maquis will allow you to discover this part of local history. You will be able to organize numerous leisure activities and discoveries with the association s animators: hiking, collective games, visits to local producers, visits to a recycling center. The Base Nature Vercors website will give you an overview of the place and the local activities: https://basenaturevercors.org/

Project hosted by

Located in the Vercors, the association Base Nature Vercors wishes to allow everyone to discover life in the wild. Base Nature Vercors is a Drome-based association located in the Vercors region. It is a place of initiation to the biosphere and to renewable energies. In parallel to the animations of discovery and protection of the environment, the association sets up workshops, which then become educational means to reach their objectives. Since 2011, the association has been hosting international youth volunteer workcamps. English will be your common language.
