Travail

During this workcamp, you'll be helping to renovate the wall of the cemetery in Boissy le Cutté, a small town 10 minutes from the association's premises. In small villages, the cemetery is an important place for people, a place of memory, a witness to the passing of time and the generations that have populated the surrounding villages. The perimeter wall of the Boissy le Cutté cemetery, which is several centuries old, is beginning to crumble. To help preserve France's heritage, the history of its people and its collective memory, you will be working with us to renovate part of the cemetery's perimeter wall (cleaning and removing joints and damaged areas, rebuilding and applying mortar).
Each morning, you will be taken by vehicle to the town of Boissy le Cutté. The group will be divided into two rotating teams for the kitchen and the workcamp. Meals will be prepared on site in a kitchen provided by the town and will be eaten there. Around 4pm, the group will be back at the association's site, our ecological and solidarity village. At the end of each afternoon and in the evening, activities will be organised around the discovery of nature, cooperation and interculturality. You will also have the opportunity to propose your own activities to the rest of the group.
The projects offered by Vir'Volt are open to all, and our venue is a safe place for all sexual, cultural and religious identities and orientations. Time will be set aside for discussion and reflection on the fight against discrimination and the mechanics of cooperation between individuals.

Logement et nourriture

Accommodation in non-mixed collective yurts in the village. The yurts are light, insulated and heated ecological dwellings. Please bring a sleeping bag. The accommodation has non-mixed toilets and showers, as well as a kitchen area. Food is provided and meals are prepared by the participants in turn.
Please note Vir'Volt is a collective construction project that is only in its fourth year of development. The sanitary block with showers and toilets offers basic facilities.

Situation, loisirs

La Ferté Alais is 50km south of Paris.

Leisure activities: You can enjoy activities on the association's site, as well as discovering the cultural and natural heritage of the Parc du Gatinais. You will help to organise activities with young people from the town. Leisure activities will be organised collectively according to the possibilities and budget available. A day of cultural discovery in Paris is planned.

Partenaire

"Vir'Volt" stands for Village InteRnational de VolonTaires (international village for volunteers). For the past four years, the association has been based in the middle of a natural regional park near Paris. Welcoming young people from all over the world, getting to know each other and learning from our differences, reflecting, and acting together to protect the environment, having a positive impact on the places and people living around the site or simply passing through... This is the project of this future village, which is built every year thanks to the young people who come to contribute, putting solidarity at the heart of their actions. With accommodation in yurts, teepees and caravans, a permaculture garden, water-saving methods, waste limitation and recovery, this small village that will grow into a large one respects its natural surroundings and is experimenting eco-responsible practices. Taking part in this project means immersing yourself in a natural and ecological living environment, contributing to the development of a unique and original place, playing an active part in the construction of new places of solidarity and ecological initiatives, and making a commitment to a society that is more respectful of people and nature.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

From Paris stations (Gare de Lyon, Gare du Nord), take the RER D to Juvisy, and change for the RER D to Malsherbes.
We will meet you at the association's site, a 15-minute walk from the RER station, on Monday 29 April from 3.30pm.
If your luggage is too heavy and you would like to be picked up at the station by car, please contact the Vir'Volt team BEFORE you arrive (contacts available in the infosheet sent 3 weeks before the start of the project).

Commentaires additionnels

This project is not a tourist trip to Paris! If you wish to visit the capital, please allow 2 days before or after the project dates.

This workcamp is funded by the European Solidarity Corps as part of the HEAL project (Promoting HEALthy lifestyles to improve mental health and well-being), which aims to promote and experiment community living and healthy lifestyles in a post-Covid context. There is no registration fee. Transport costs will be reimbursed up to a lumpsum fixed according to the travelled distance. Pocket money of €6 per day will be distributed.

Travail

Come and enjoy the exceptional setting of the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc valley. In summer and winter alike, the Chamonix Youth Hostel welcomes many tourists who take advantage of their stay to discover the beauty of the surrounding nature and enjoy outdoor activities. The hostel is keen to offer facilities that reflect its values, and has joined forces with the Mont-Blanc fermes pédagogiques association to bring you this project. These two organisations work hand in hand to raise awareness of agricultural values: their aim is to set up an educational micro-farm at the hostel. You'll be taking part in the creation of a henhouse, a cabin for the animals, and the creation of paddocks for grazing. This work camp will be an opportunity to think about what food we produce and how. No specific skills are required. If you're interested in preserving the mountain environment and enjoy working as part of a team, this is the project for you.

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in the Youth Hostel, in dormitories with individual beds.Toilets and showers will be on the landing. Together, you'll help to organise community life (cleaning, activities, etc.) and take it in turns to prepare meals using locally sourced produce. Our aim is to encourage vegetarian eating using local, seasonal produce, while respecting participants diets and discovering local cuisine together. You'll be rubbing shoulders with the guests of the youth hostel, which will strengthen the exchange of experiences. The hostel has Wifi in the communal areas.

Situation, loisirs

The youth hostel is located at the foot of the Bosson glaciers, facing the Aiguille du Midi, so you'll have plenty to see during your stay! Just 600 meters from the accommodation, you'll find all the basic amenities (mini-market, market, restaurants, etc.). Chamonix town center is 2.5km away, within easy walking distance. There are plenty of outdoor activities to choose from: sports, nature and cultural activities to suit all tastes.

Partenaire

For the past three years, Concordia has been working with the youth hostel network on volunteer projects. This partnership is being developed this year with a new project at the Chamonix site. Thomas, the hostel manager, wanted to strengthen the international and intercultural dimension of his business by welcoming a group of volunteers. The environmental dimension is also an issue at the heart of the priorities of tourism, which is evolving under the impact of climate change. The youth hostel is in partnership with the Mont-Blanc fermes pédagogiques association, which aims to introduce certain sections of the public to the rudiments of balanced systems from field to plate, and to raise awareness among as many people as possible of sustainable production methods, permacultural market gardening and the treatment of small livestock.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The Chamonix Youth Hostel is accessible from Lyon, Marseille and Paris by bus or train. Meet late afternoon at the Chamonix bus station (a 20-minute walk from the hostel) or at the "Les Pelerins" train station (a 9-minute walk from the hostel). Train reservations can be made approximately 4 months before departure on the SNCF website, link below:
https://www.sncf-connect.com/

Commentaires additionnels

Don't forget to bring work clothes and shoes resistant to dirt.
In the mountains, despite the sunshine, the weather is surprising and can change rapidly.
For leisure activities, you'll need to pack clothes suited to the climate (warm fleece or jumper, shorts and hiking trousers, windbreaker, down jacket, warm socks, etc.). For hiking, high-top, notched shoes are recommended. Don't forget sun protection (a hat or cap is essential, sunglasses with a high protection factor because of the intense reflection, sun cream with a high protection factor IP 30-50, etc.) and a swimming costume for swimming or white-water activities. For your accommodation, remember to bring a towel and a pair of flip-flops for when you move around the youth hostel. You should also bring a backpack (in addition to your luggage) and comfortable trainers. You'll also need to pack the following essential accessories: a mobile phone charger, hiking poles (not compulsory, but recommended), a water bottle, a set of bandages and a headlamp or torch.
Social events will be organised in collaboration with our coordinators and according to your wishes. In particular, we will be organising themed evenings for each country. If you would like to share a little of your culture (recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects, music, etc.), don't hesitate to take a little piece of your country/region in your backpack.

Remarques

This project is supported by the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programme for young people aged 18 to 30. It is open to all volunteers who meet the ESC criteria and is subject to several principles and conditions presented on this page:

This year, we'll be continuing work on the stonework in the old sheepfold, so that in a few years' time it can be used as a cooking area, a tool shed, etc. You’ll also be working on the enhancement of the site and the old hamlet of la Péguière. All with the help of masons who will be on hand to pass on their skills! Mind you, it's a real workout for the arms and legs! The work involves 30 hours a week.

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in individual tents on the Faï farm site. Dry toilets, a kitchen and showers will be available. A barnum will be set up and will be your common space under cover. There is no Wi-Fi, but you will meet people from all over the world! This center is a 30 minutes’ walk from the Abbey.
You will cook by turn, so that we can taste several specialties! Here, we are careful about what we eat and aim to reduce our impact on the planet. We try to eat a maximum of local products and we eat meat twice a week.
The daily life is organized together: organization of the menus (vegetarian, vegan and other specific diets possible), shopping, activities, etc. Bring a mattress, a good sleeping bag (the nights can be cold) and a pillow. To be adapted to your needs.

Travail

From Luz-Saint-Sauveur, the Pyrenees Mountains are all yours. All the best hiking sites, peaks and highlands are easily accessible. Here, you will find the freedom to breathe freely, move, broaden your horizons and enjoy!

Luz-Saint-Sauveur was a thermal hub for the noble and wealthy throughout the 1800s : the medicinal bathing sites attracted emperors, artists, intellectuals and more. Amongst the historical figures that often visited Luz was the French emperor Napoleon III (grandson of Napoleon Bonaparte) who had fallen in love with the town and surrounding mountains, he encouraged the development of the village throughout the 1860s. Today Luz probably has the best-conserved heritage from that era in France and elsewhere.

The great writer Victor Hugo described Luz as a “charming old town… beautifully situated in a deep triangular valley… When the miquelets (Catalan militia men) and Spanish smugglers arrived from Aragon … they saw a great light… They named this town light, or Luz.”

Your job will consist of the requalification of an old amphitheater nearby the post office. You will learn the art of masonry and revegetation techniques, to enhance the space and make it accessible for everyone. Throughout your whole stay, you will be accompanied by camp leaders, one being a technical facilitator who will teach you and help you master the techniques of traditional masonry.

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in an individual tent, with access to toilets, shower and kitchen. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the grocery shopping and in the preparation of meals, prioritizing products from the market and local producers.
Please bring your sleeping bag and mat. You will wash your clothes and other items manually. Wifi is not available, French volunteers can share their internet connections via a hotspot.

Situation, loisirs

Luz Saint Sauveur is in the Hautes-Pyrenees County, south-west of France near the pilgrimage city of Lourdes. It is close to the most beautiful natural sites of the Pyrenees Mountains: Midi Peak, Gavarnie Valley, Bridge of Spain, Neouvielle Natural Park, Pyrenees National Park (with many highland lakes).
The beauty and diversity of this county presents a great historical, architectural and environmental interest.

Partenaire

The municipality has been developing a large project to restore its local heritage, especially through international workcamps. For over 6 years the volunteers of Concordia and from the whole world have been renovating old streets, washhouses, fountains, and hiking trails.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point is set at the LUZ-SAINT-SAUVEUR - tourist office bus station, on the 7th of June at 6 PM.
Once you reach LOURDES train station (direct trains from PARIS, TOULOUSE, and BORDEAUX), take the bus n°965 to LUZ-SAINT-SAUVEUR (about 30 minutes). From PARIS, you can reach LOURDES from the Montparnasse train station.
LUZ-SAINT-SAUVEUR is also accessible by the night train for those who would like to try it!
The trains are open to booking about 4 months before the departure dates, accessible on the following website:
https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/
If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel.
If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than airplane) for a sustainable international workcamp.

Commentaires additionnels

Bring working clothes, gloves, and closed shoes. Bring a warm sleeping bag, as nights might be cold due to the altitude and we may also sleep in the mountains if we organizing outings. To enjoy the mountains, bring your trekking shoes. For the brave ones who want to take a dip in the river, bring your swimming suit. A sunscreen is also recommended for the ones with sensitive skins. Feel free to bring activities from home such as photos, games, musical instruments, etc.
Foreigners from the European Union must bring their personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and all participants must bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise during the program, volunteers will need to cover all costs; they will be reimbursed upon their return to their home country.

The last day (28/06) is dedicated to the departure, which is usually set in the morning.

On the domain, you can find the castle, an orangery, stables, caretaker's lodgings, a garden and orchard, a park and a 400-hectare forest. The Chinese boudoir and library were restored over several months.
The commune of Gouffern en Auge has embarked on a vast project to restore the various parts of the estate over several years. This project is being monitored and coordinated by architects of historical monuments. You will continue the restoration of the wall, staking the mortar and repointing with a lime mortar (a masonry technique used with old buildings). You will be accompanied by skilled guides throughout the project to help you learn these techniques step by step!

Logement et nourriture

You will be staying close to the Château du Bourg Saint Léonard. This means you can easily walk to the site each day. The accommodation will be in individual tents (bring your own sleeping bag and warm duvet). The kitchen and living area, as well as showers and toilets, will be close to the camp. You'll be able to enjoy the view of the castle as you go about your daily life. Volunteers will be able to share their internet connection (no WIFI), and laundry will be done by hand.
You'll share collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders, and you'll help with shopping and meal preparation, giving priority to healthy, local produce, and exchanging recipes if you wish.

Situation, loisirs

Gouffern en Auge is a new commune, created by a merger of 14 communes. It is located in the department of Orne in the Normandy region.
This work camp is an opportunity to take full advantage of the exceptional and prestigious setting of the castle and to immerse oneself in Norman culture: culinary specialities, hiking, discover the local heritage, visits of the castle of Chambois (the commune where you will be accommodated) and the national stud farm (Haras National du Pin 5 km away), activities and entertainment with the local inhabitants.

and https://www.gouffernenauge.fr/chateau-du-bourg-saint-leonard/

Partenaire

This is the third year of the partnership with the commune of Gouffern-en-Auge.
The council wishes to revitalise the commune by hosting a volunteer work camp, to set up an international and intercultural project for the inhabitants, and to promote the local heritage.
The castle of Bourg-Saint-Leonard is open to visitors during the summer.
In an English-style park surrounded by a 400-hectare forest, the castle, with its orangery and stables, is a showcase of 18th-century furniture. The Chinese boudoir and the library have been restored over several months and are open to the public.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point is scheduled at Argentan Train Station at the end of the afternoon of the first day. On the last day (02/07), the departure time is usually set in the morning.

From Paris, you can take the train from Gare Montparnasse, regular departures are scheduled throughout the day. The journey takes about 2 hours.
If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel.
The exact meeting time will be given with the infosheet which will be sent at least 4 weeks before the start of the workcamp.
If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than aeroplane) for a sustainable international workcamp.

Our international workcamp is waiting for you to perpetuate this age-old link. Together with the locals, we'll be helping to maintain and promote the local heritage, both in terms of the environment and the village's essential festivities.
The spirit of cooperation and conviviality are characteristics that define the way of life around here. Join us and enjoy the good life at Cause de Clérans.

The workcamp will take place in the village of LE PORGE, a small commune in the Médoc between pine forests and ocean beaches. You'll be taking part in the construction of semi-circular, removable wooden bleachers, which will be used to welcome audiences for open-air shows, as well as creating outdoor furniture out of pallets for the terrace of a community café in the town centre. In this way, you'll be supporting the local community's project to bring its community café to life and encourage residents to make it their own, so it becomes a lively and welcoming place. You will be supervised by a technical coordinator who will teach you wood construction techniques.

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in individual tents at the "La Grigne" municipal campsite, a stones throw away from the Landes dunes and the ocean. A bungalow will be available for cooking. Wifi available, the laundry will be done by hand.
Together, you'll help in community tasks (cleaning, activities, etc.) and take turns to prepare meals using local products. We do our best to prioritise vegetarian diets using local, seasonal products, while ensuring that all participants' diets are respected and while also offering the opportunity to taste local cuisine.

Situation, loisirs

Le Porge is just 1 hour from Bordeaux and two steps away from the Arcachon basin.
There are many leisurely activities available such as surfing, forest walks, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding on the canal. So there are plenty of activities to choose from, and they will all be organised to suit the group.

Partenaire

Le Porge is a commune in the south-west of France, in the Gironde department (Nouvelle-Aquitaine region). Le Porge has a supervised public beach known as the "Plage du Gressier".
The community café has been the commune’s project for several years now. The house where the café is located is currently under construction. The work will be completed before the start of the project. Your worksite is therefore a continuity of this project to develop the outdoor living space and bring it to life for the residents.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point is at Bordeaux SNCF station on 14/06 in the late afternoon.
The exact time of the meeting will be communicated with the route map, which will be sent out no later than 4 weeks before the start of the project.

Discover the rich heritage of the town, with its archaeological oppidum, its “capitelles” (huts made of dry stones) and old dry stone walls, and its calades. Your work will consist of enhancing the site by carrying out small-scale landscaping work, clearing undergrowth and making small improvements to the existing calade. This work is therefore essential to maintain the path while allowing visitors, walkers and the curious people of all horizons to come and discover this rich heritage!

As part of this project, you'll be helping to build a "self-care" area to complement the facilities already on site. Mainly, you'll be building dry toilets, washbasins, and mirrors for your beauty moments! You'll also develop your DIY spirit by making 99% eco-friendly household products. A great opportunity to try out alternative methods for reducing environmental impact and encouraging more responsible consumption habits.
To make the site more welcoming and, above all, to protect certain areas from the summer heat, you'll start creating a shaded area in the garden. You'll also have the chance to get to grips with the garden, its vegetables and herbs, and put your green thumb to good use.
Finally, weather permitting, you'll get to grips with low-tech toolmaking, and start making wooden games - the big project that will keep our youngsters busy in July. What better way to stimulate your creativity?
There's never a dull moment here! So come and spend two unforgettable weeks and bring Citrus to life with your creations.

Logement et nourriture

You'll be accommodated in 8- to 12-person, single-sex collective tents with floors and beds. Amenities include dry toilets and solar-powered showers. A pedal-powered washing machine is available for laundry. There is no wifi connection.
You will take part in the upkeep of the premises and in the preparation of meals, accompanied by an educational supervisor in the kitchen. Choices will be made collectively to ensure a balanced diet based on your tastes and local seasonal produce.

Situation, loisirs

The Abbey of Clausonne, 5km from the village of Le Saix (05400), is 15km away from the Veynes.

Leisure activities: Evenings and weekends are free for activities that you choose to organise together. You will be in an exceptional setting to discover the pleasures of mountain hiking, its rivers, its lakes, the farmers and producers markets, the festive nights organized in surrounding villages. In group, you will decide activities and discovery outings that you wish to set up. The reception center usually organizes one musical evening per week with homemade wood-fired pizzas. Once or twice a week, we organise with our vehicles some racing trips!

Take part in the valorization of a historic site at the heart of idyllic mountain landscapes! Join us and come discover l’Abbaye de Clausonne and its natural environment at 1140 meters of altitude!
It is in the 12th century that the Abbaye took shape. After multiple periods of deconstruction and reconstruction over the centuries, it became in the 20th an agricultural building, which was abandoned in the 1950s. It is in 1994 that the Abbaye of Clausonne association was created to conserve the vestiges of this exceptional architecture on an exceptional site. Since then, the association has wanted to make this place a ground of discovery, learning and knowledge.

Dare to be in the mountains... the high mountains! In the heart of the Mercantour National Park, at an altitude of 2200m, lies the magnificent Sanguinière hut. Built over a hundred years ago from dry stone, this hut was used to shelter shepherds. Now out of use, it will be the focus of this original and unforgettable project. For those who love the mountains, outdoor life and evenings under the stars, for sports enthusiasts, for those who want to learn to live with the bare minimum... dare to go to the mountains!

You will be leading the restoration of the pastoral hut, at altitude, using traditional techniques (dry stone) for the walls and the construction of the larch under-roof. The technical aspects of this project, as well as life in the mountains, require you to be in good physical shape.
Our aim with this project is to return to the origins of international work camps for young volunteers. The location is exceptional, and life in the mountains is unforgettable. It's a unique project that has been organised by several partners.

Taking part in this work camp requires you to be physically and mentally fit enough to: climb the mountain with a lot of weight (your bags, food, tent), live in the high mountains with the bare minimum (no internet), swim in high mountain lakes, respect nature (flora and fauna), sleep in a tent, take part in the restoration of a dry stone pastoral hut, hike back down to the village (1h30min walk each way). You will be asked to provide a letter of motivation for taking part, in which you can describe your experience and/or your desire to take part in this type of project.

Logement et nourriture

Accommodation during the week will be in individual tents, in the high mountains (2200m altitude). You will set up the tents and your bags on foot (1h30min walk).Cooking will take place in a hut close to the Sanguinière hut, where a gas cooker and (rustic) cooking equipment are installed. The toilets will be dry and the showers solar-powered.

Weekend accommodation will be in the village hall, which is a hard-standing building (very large single room, mattresses on the floor). There will be solid sanitary facilities and a well-equipped kitchen.

You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders and you will help with the shopping and meal preparation, giving priority to healthy, local produce.

Situation, loisirs

Saint Pons is a very small commune in the Alps (Ubaye), just a few kilometres from Italy. Backing onto the border with the Italian Piedmont, with which it shares almost 33km of ridges, the Mercantour massif is the last promontory of the Alpine arc to the south, before it plunges abruptly into the Mediterranean Sea. From the summit of Gélas, the highest peak in the Mercantour at 3,143 m, you're just 50 km from the sea as the crow flies!

Partenaire

The commune of Saint Pons, which is very active in mobilising its young people and protecting the mountains, together with the Mercantour National Park, is hosting this first youth work camp in 2024 to restore the La Sanguinière pastoral hut (2200m). It is important to respect the rules of life in the high mountains, so as not to disturb the fauna and flora present.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point is at Barcelonnette station in the late afternoon of 26/06. The exact time of the meeting will be communicated with the route map, which will be sent no later than 4 weeks before the start of the project. As the journey from Paris is very long, we will be able to accommodate your travel arrangements.

Commentaires additionnels

SPECIFIC MOTIVATION LETTER NEEDED - related to the fact that the project takes place in the mountain in altitude (2200m). Basically, you need to have the love for the mountains :) and ability - physical and psychological - to live in the moutains with basic conditions.

You'll need to bring your own mattress (ground sheet or inflatable mattress) and winter duvet. Nights in the mountains are cold, so bring warm clothing. For work and life in the mountains, bring good footwear suitable for both activities. Don't forget to bring sun protection (hat, sunglasses, etc.). A headlamp (rechargeable if possible) is also necessary, as well as external batteries for charging lamps and phones. There will be no internet, but there will be a few telephone network points in the mountains (depending on the weather and your geolocation). You can also take along recipes from your country/region, musical instruments and games.

The last day (17/07) is devoted to departure, usually in the morning.
