Travail

This project is a continuation of the first one carried out in July and is in advance of another one. It will consist of protecting the structure from bad weather and laying a temporary floor in preparation for the final restoration of the roof using the methods of the time.
In detail, this work, centered around carpentry, will consist of
- the installation of a floor structure based on the existing low wall
- laying a temporary floor on this structure
- the construction of a framework to protect the structure
- the installation of a temporary roof over this structure
- the construction of a protective barrier around the ice house
The work will take place between 8:30AM and 1PM and between 2:30PM and 4:30PM, with a break of 30 minutes around 11AM.

Logement et nourriture

Participants will be hosted on Le Créneau’s camping, in collective tents with wooden floors and beds. WiFi is not available on site. Food will be provided and prepared by the participants in groups, with the support of the cooking staff.

Situation, loisirs

The workcamp is located in Montcombroux les Mines, 45 kms away from Moulins. Weekends are planned collectively with the group leaders. If you want to discover the cities around, Vichy and Moulins are 45 kms away. If you’d rather have a nice walk in nature, the surroundings are perfect for hiking, landscape seeing, discovering local markets, swimming, and enjoying sports activities and games.

Partenaire

What’s the common point between a castle, winter and a giant hole in the floor ? The answer is in Le Créneau ! During this project, you will help us renovate the fixed ice house on the castle grounds. The ice collected from the water in winter was stored there to ensure the preservation of foodstuffs throughout the year.
Help us enhance this small heritage, to give it acknowledgment and to highlight the skills acquired over the years!
Currently without any roof protection, the ice house must be waterproofed to protect it from bad weather. Your actions will be in accordance with the objectives 5 and 8 of sustainable development (UN) in favor of gender equality and decent work and economic growth.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

Let’s meet at Moulins-sur-Allier train station, at 5PM !

Commentaires additionnels

This project is a volunteering team supported by the European Solidarity Corps. You will receive pocket money (6€ per day) and a travel reimbursement with an upper limit based on the ESC distance calculator.

L'Atelier Vert works all year round to protect biodiversity. By coming to this site, you will be able to make proposals and decisions about the work to be carried out. The idea is that as volunteers, you are actors and actresses of your workcamp.
The members of L'Atelier Vert can, for example, suggest that you restore former wasteland in a biodiversity zone (depollution of the site, digging of ponds, installation of nesting boxes, signage, etc.), to install a nature trail (installation of panels, creation of the path, markup...), to animate a small festival of discovery of nature, etc. You can define several missions for the workcamp and thus diversify the working days. For each mission, you will be accompanied by leaders of the L'Atelier Vert association.

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in tents. Don't forget your sleeping bags and mattresses. Toilets and showers will be available nearby, in the premises of the L'Atelier Vert association stadium, and a kitchen will be set up at the camp. All aspects of collective life (shopping, preparing meals, cleaning) will be managed by the volunteers themselves, on the basis of an operation that they will have decided on together (e.g. use planning, formation of pairs, etc.). They will be helped in this task by a community life facilitator. The goal: for each volunteer to be an actor in their stay with respect for others and community life.

Situation, loisirs

L'Atelier Vert is located in Rosières-aux-Salines, near Nancy, in eastern France. By coming to this construction site, you will be able to take advantage of a great associative and resident dynamic: many people from Rosières and the surrounding area will be delighted to spend working hours and festive evenings with you! Moments of sharing and animations will be planned by the employees of L'Atelier Vert.
This workcamp can also be an opportunity for you to discover the East of France: the city of Nancy, its magnificent Place Stanislas and the surrounding countryside. Hiking, swimming, canoeing or other outings can be organized if you wish.

Partenaire

Is environmental protection a subject close to your heart? Come and discover the L'Atelier Vert association!
L'Atelier Vert brings together dozens of local volunteers around several objectives, such as (1) educating and raising awareness about the environment, (2) protecting the animal and plant biodiversity of the region, (3) animating a territory and meet its inhabitants around projects related to the environment.
The Atelier Vert has already hosted international volunteer workcamps in the past. This is a great opportunity for the association to boost its activity and its volunteers.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

During this workcamp, you will actively participate in the life of the House and in the different activities: collective life (cooking, cleaning, organization, etc.), intercultural exchanges (meeting with the local population and volunteers of the association), etc. The work will mainly consist of the maintenance of the vegetable garden of the House (sowing, transplanting, hoeing, watering, harvesting, processing). In addition, you will participate in the maintenance of the compost bins, the planting pond, the chicken coop, the insect hotel and the bamboo grove. You will work in the garden in the mornings, adapting the rhythm to the youngest.

Logement et nourriture

You will sleep in dorms (8 people) at Maison des Bateleurs, Montendre. You will have a vehicle available for all mobility in the region. Food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner (you have a food budget which the facilitators will manage and communicate with you throughout the work). The meals will be prepared, in turn, by you, especially for lunch and dinner while respecting environmental values and local resources, as well as the culture of each and everyone (hot and cold dishes as well as vegetarian and vegan will be prepared).

Situation, loisirs

The workcamp is located in Montendre (17130), Charente-Maritime, near Bordeaux. Tour of the region will be collectively planned as you wish: city visits, ocean, museums or the Forest House... Interactions with house volunteers will be provided like a pizza party... This will allow you to see how "Solidarités Jeunesses" works.

Partenaire

The objective of this workcamp is, thanks to exchanges and a transfer of inter-generational knowledge, to awaken you to sustainable development. Sustainable development, like permaculture is rooted in the organization's values and is transversal in our actions. This is why, Maison des Bateleurs-Solidarités Jeunesses has undertaken for several years the creation of an environment pole (a phytosanitary basin, dry toilets, a compost, an organic garden, the use of the surrounding natural resources, are some examples). Your actions will be in accordance with the objective 12 of sustainable development (UN) in favor of sustainable consumption and production.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

Travail

In the continuity of the work done in 2021, you will have to redefine the layout of a part of the path and stabilize the surroundings while taking care to homogenize the whole. In a second phase, you will be asked to repair the damaged steps in an identical manner. If the path is communal, the restanques are on private parcels and will not be the object of any work. Through the realization of this project, the commune wishes to encourage the private owners concerned to undertake consolidation and/or repair work on the terraces along the pathway, in addition to enhancing its heritage. From a technical point of view, you will be supervised by a mason/calaver who will pass on his know-how and his knowledge. You will learn the technique of dry stone during the repair or the construction of low walls, but also the stone cutting necessary to the repair of certain steps. Beyond the technical contribution, the craftsman, well accustomed to the territory, will allow you to understand your environment and its specificities: agricultural and pastoral tradition linked to the restanques, history of the technique and its specificities. Thanks to this workcamp, you will be able to mobilize and develop the skills necessary to conduct optimal group work as well as collective life on the camp, which are listening, attention and mutual aid. Each volunteer will be asked to take an active part in the collective life of the group: preparation of meals, cleaning of dishes, cleaning of sanitary facilities and premises.

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in the municipal campsite under tent where you will have access to common sanitary facilities and a kitchen. You will participate in the collective preparation of meals and in the tasks of daily life. You will be accommodated not far from the village.

Situation, loisirs

Located in the heart of the Alpes de Hautes Provences department (04) and the Verdon Regional Natural Park, the town of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie has a rich built and natural heritage. You can walk through the streets of this village full of history and typical of Provence. You can also go up to the Chapel of Notre Dame de Beauvoir, classified as a historical monument, which overlooks and offers an exceptional view on the village and the Verdon valley. You will meet the earthenware craftsmen and visit the museum in the village. You can also visit the house of the PNR du Verdon which will allow you to learn more about this preserved place. Finally, the inhabitants, voluntary associations and elected officials will come to meet you and will be happy to share their territory and their land with you.

Partenaire

After a first work site carried out during the summer of 2021, the commune of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie wishes to welcome a new team of volunteers in order to carry out the work planned for the redevelopment of the footpath leading to the Grotte de la Madeleine.Starting in the heart of the village, this trail leads to the Notre-Dame de Beauvoir chapel and to the Grotte de la Madeleine, which was once a place of worship. This ancient chapel now houses an altar and two statues, that of Mary Magdalene and a wolf. This path is used every year by many visitors and allows to promote the rural heritage of Provence as well as the religious heritage of the village.

Solidarités Jeunesses (SJ) is a national movement of non-formal education and is composed of a National Secretary (Paris), and eight regional delegations across France. Our delegations host international volunteers throughout the year. Each regional delegation is unique, but all of the activities organized benefit the local community and share common ground: - gather people from different culture and social background to participate in social, ecological and cultural development. - contribute to the integration of people with fewer opportunities. Each project is dedicated to actions of solidarity and collective living. We believe that cultural exchanges are a key for personal learning and for the volunteer to experiment and undergo personal development.

You could arrive at the airport in Paris. Then you must take the train to Grenoble. Once in Grenoble, take the southbound train to Gap (direction to Gap or Valence) and get off at the station “ Lus la Croix- haute”. Or, We can suggest other airports as Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble and Marseille. It takes less time than coming from Paris The nearest train is “ Lus La Croix-Haute”. You can check more information about train by visiting to website : http://www.sncf.com/ Also the second train station closer is Veynes-Dévoluy. Usually, we ask people to arrive in Lus La Croix Haute train station and then we pick up them directly there with our van. Also if you take bus from your country, there are big international bus station in Lyon and Grenoble. And if you arrive by car, our exact adress is: Villages des Jeunes, Hameau de Vaunières, 05140 Saint-Julien-en-Beauchêne.

Travail

The main goals of the project are to meet one another, to create a constructive dynamic, as well to break stereotypes, and stigmas by working together and living collectively. Incline to “Education Popu- laire” which believes that everyone can teach and learn each other without formal educational ways. All the project in Vaunières is corresponding to below goals.

Part of the job in Vaunières is to host. We have 65 places for hosting groups (adults, disabled peoples, teenagers, children) anywhere from a day to a month. We host various type of group!
Usually social group are coming to live an experience with us. They work and share the collective life with us. The team of long-term volunteers is here to welcome them, explained them the project, propose to them some activities or just sharing time together. Groups are really interested by the internationality of our project and they are coming to meet volunteers also!
It could happen we rent the village for one week end for a giant roleplay, a wedding, etc.

Every morning, We have workshop like construction, gardening, cooking, cutting and splitting firewood and taking care of the chickens. It varies slightly day by day, but in the afternoon we continue to work. On Wednesday and Thursday we have meetings with permanent staff to talk about future workshops and collec-
tive life.
Long term volunteers can choose to have a personal project de- pending on what you want to learn, what you are interested in or what you can contribute. The village is open to improvements of all types. Anything is possible. We hope that your personal project advances the values of Vaunières. We welcome new ideas.

We host international workcamp from spring to the end of summer. These camps normally consist of 6-8 international volunteers and 6-8 French people. It could be camp for adult or for teenager. During 2 or 3 weeks, they work together in one specifically project (isolating wall, building wood house, etc.), share collective
life and live under tents. They have to build their own organization with their workcamp leader and with the technical leader.
The long term volunteers of Vaunières are usually the workcamp leader of these international workcamp. It’s one of their missions.

Logement et nourriture

We manage all aspects of the menu in house, cooking is one of daily workshops. Hence, everyone is involved at least a little bit in cooking and creating the menu. We organize “café menu”
time that each resident can propose menu items for the upcoming week. You are encouraged to cook meals from your country or region!
We try to consume as many local vegetables and fruits as possible. According to the reflection of ideal life of the association, we try to eat better: less meat, local and seasonal ingredients (meat, vegetables, fruits) and we try to buy as much we can organic food.
Also we like to do homemade jam with what we picked in Vaunières (raspberry, plum, etc).
And of course, we eat what is coming from our garden: salad, cabbage, tomato, etc

Until 2009, SJ (Solidarités Jeunesses) was the French branch of the international movement –Youth Action for Peace (AJP). It was established in 1923 after the First World War by French and German Protestants. AJP was the beginning of a movement for overcoming the international border, culture for peace. These days, in the model of the original movement, SJ has gathered young people and adults for project and social engagement. Their expectation is to determine their dynamic and helpful. Solidarités Jeunesses consists in 7 regional delegations and 1 partner association.

Association Les Villages des Jeunes
Les Villages des Jeunes is a regional branch of Solidarités Jeunesses and was created in 1963. The aim is to break the social, cultural and intergenerational barriers through a collective life, workshops and construction site. The goal of Villages des Jeunes is to give new energy to extremely rural places by allowing French and international volunteers , employees , young people, to live and work together on these places.
In AVJ, there are two villages which are 2 hosting places: La ferme du Fai and Le hameau de Vaunières. These places allow intercultural sharing and a life close to nature in the mountains (Hautes Alpes).

Vaunières is one of the hosting place of Villages des Jeunes. It’s located in the high alps and is nestled in the heart of mountains. Most of the houses date back to the 17th century, at a time when pastoral activities were thriving. Since the 1950’s, all the families had to left the countryside in search of better paying jobs. In 1960's, Villages des Jeunes has bought the hamlet of Vaunières to start their project. Step by step, they began to host local and international persons, groups, to bring life in the hamlet.

You will work on the restoration of a part of the Vauban Fort, namely the façade of the northern front. Accompanied by a specialized technical supervisor, you will first have to ensure the de-vegetation of the facade, then the de-jointing and the repointing with limemotar mortar. Other traditional masonry work and stone cutting are planned, which will allow you to familiarize yourself with these techniques. It is a physical job, but in an idyllic setting by the ocean. You will work approximately 6 hours per day.

Logement et nourriture

It will be collective, under tents at the Fouras campsite (pool, multi-sports area, WIFI, snack...).

You can enjoy many water activities, such as fishing and sailing with local clubs. The beach, bike rides by the sea, beach volleyball and other pleasures are to be discovered. You can also visit museums as well as some cities such as La Rochelle and Rochefort. Your visit will favor the meeting with locals who are looking forward to seeing you, especially at table for an international diner party or the Music Festival, among other summer events!

Partenaire

Located at the mouth of the Charente, the Fouras peninsula is home to 3 ports and 5 beaches of the Atlantic coast. In an idyllic setting with a view of Fort Boyard, the worksite will consist of the renovation of the Vauban fort, also called the Semaphore fort, which is in reality the medieval fortified castle of Fouras. It protected the city from a possible invasion from an enemy landing by the ocean. It is surrounded by 17th century fortifications: platforms, curtain walls and massive tower. This workcamp is part of the continuity of the partnership with the town of Fouras and its desire to pursue local development actions (renovation workcamp on the Fort de l'Aiguille as well), through the intercultural dynamics allowed by the volunteer youth workcamps. Your actions will be in accordance with the objective 11 of sustainable development (UN) in favor of sustainable cities and communities.

Come and participate in the renovation of the small church of Avricourt, one of the few churches in the area that overcame the First World War.
In the continuity of the masonry work of the previous workcamps you will participate in the renovation of this small church. You will carry out traditional masonry work on the large facade of the church: repairing the joints of the walls, staking, repointing and even laying new bricks and stones. Part of the work may be at height and require climbing on scaffolding.

Logement et nourriture

You will have the reception hall of the village at your disposal as a place to live, which includes a well-equipped kitchen (community oven, dishwasher, big fridge etc.). Individual tents will be provided as well as a fallback solution in the reception hall in case of bad weather. Please note that there is only one shower and one toilet to share. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the grocery shopping and in the preparation of meals, prioritising products from the market and local producers.

Situation, loisirs

Avricourt is located 15 km from Noyon, in the North of Oise. In a central location in Picardie, you can visit Amiens, its cathedral and its “hortillonnages” (floating gardens), Compiegne and its imperial palace, Noyon and its historical centre. You can also hike in the surrounding countryside between cereal fields and small pasture valleys. If you are a nature lover, you would even discover the educational beehive with the school children and the beekepers of a small local producer. A concert given by the local band in the church is planned the day before the departure of the volunteers.

Partenaire

The commune of Avricourt is a historical partner of our office. Last years’ health crisis forced us to take a break in the partnership that has lasted for over 20 years! This small commune of barely 200 inhabitants does everything possible to give the best welcome to the volunteers: village meals, invitations to eat, donations of jams and other vegetables from the garden are a classic in Avricourt. In short, many exchanges are in prospect, especially since with the help of the animation team you will organize meetings and animations in the village and at the school.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point is scheduled at NOYON train station at the end of the afternoon on the 02/09. The exact meeting time will be given with the infosheet which will be sent at the latest 4 weeks before the start of the workcamp.

From PARIS, you can take a train from PARIS - Gare Du Nord train station, regular departures are scheduled throughout the day (one train every hour). The trip lasts for about 1 hour.

The trains are open to booking about 4 months before the departure dates, accessible on the following website: https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/

If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel.

Commentaires additionnels

Please bring work clothes for the site and closed shoes. For the accommodation under tent, think of your sleeping bag as well as a sleeping mat for more comfort.
You can also bring back specialties from your country, photos, musical instruments, in short what you like and want to share on this site, either with the local population or with the group!

In the geographical site of the Col de Cote Chevre, remains at the same time natural landscapes, a strong biodiversity and also traces of human activities. Two main elements are there for you to witness; A stone cabin now in ruins tells the story of human activity such as livestock farming and haymaking, and an alcohol still from the 60’s, in an old shelter, being the testimony of the farming of lavender that stopped in the 80’s. These two spots have a strong patrimonial value and could become a perfect place for the many tourists and hikers to take a break and learn about this regional history, since they are on the way to the famous Rocher de Combeau.

This new town gathers now Chatillon-en-Dois and 5 other villages: Mensac, Menee, Archiane, Les Nonieres and Benevise. Many touristic highlights are located there; small and charming original streets, vineyards with its specific cabins, valleys going through the south of the Vercors such as the Gorge du Gas and the Circus of Archiane, and the high plateau of Vercors easily reachable by foot from the valley of Combeau. You will have the opportunity to hike and discover this territory with the eco-guards of the park.
