Dare to be in the mountains... the high mountains! In the heart of the Mercantour National Park, at an altitude of 2200m, lies the magnificent Sanguinière hut. Built over a hundred years ago from dry stone, this hut was used to shelter shepherds. Now out of use, it will be the focus of this original and unforgettable project. For those who love the mountains, outdoor life and evenings under the stars, for sports enthusiasts, for those who want to learn to live with the bare minimum... dare to go to the mountains!
You will be leading the restoration of the pastoral hut, at altitude, using traditional techniques (dry stone) for the walls and the construction of the larch under-roof. The technical aspects of this project, as well as life in the mountains, require you to be in good physical shape.
Our aim with this project is to return to the origins of international work camps for young volunteers. The location is exceptional, and life in the mountains is unforgettable. It's a unique project that has been organised by several partners.
Taking part in this work camp requires you to be physically and mentally fit enough to: climb the mountain with a lot of weight (your bags, food, tent), live in the high mountains with the bare minimum (no internet), swim in high mountain lakes, respect nature (flora and fauna), sleep in a tent, take part in the restoration of a dry stone pastoral hut, hike back down to the village (1h30min walk each way). You will be asked to provide a letter of motivation for taking part, in which you can describe your experience and/or your desire to take part in this type of project.
