Work in clubVolunteers are expected to support activities of the Listen Twice Conversational Club which lie within the multicultural education and cross-cultural learning activities as well as participate in the school s activities, communicate closely with teens and kids, co-operate with the In Down-Town teachers and staff, become the leaders of social or cultural or applied language and art or media projects for teens.Among the activities volunteers will carry on are:-Conducting the club sessions and being the leader of teenagers cross- or multicultural projects,-Assisting the teens and helping them with ideas for their educational projects within the In Down-Town curriculum framework,-Preparing and conducting the activities in the subject of the students projects, competitions, sub-projects or theme presentations,-Organizing team works, group discussions, excursions, informal study visits, tours, picnics, holiday events, some special events for the school s students, etc.-Developing new club trends and workshops,-Assisting in club s office work as well as in public promotion,-Helping in other required though relevant activities,-When needed assisting the kids during classes.The educational club work in multicultural issues is organized though three main club workshops- Handicrafts Club, Performing Arts Club, Micro Media Club, Adults Club, Special learning projects based on the study topics are held within each of them. Included among the activities for youth there can be amateur drama performances, making quizzes and presentations or debates on history, geography, culture or literature of Estonia and other European countries, producing piece of amateur art or handicraft, visits to different cultural and educational institutions, preparing and participation in other school s projects and events, etc.Volunteers are responsible for direct contacts with teens to provide educational club sessions of the mentioned workshops, evaluate regularly the progress of the project as well as be responsible for the Annual Exhibition Multicultural and Global Issues for Teens . The Conversational Club activities are educational but they are NOT regular language learning classes. The volunteers may only be asked to help building up a multicultural background in the class through games, discussions and group work. Volunteers are also expected to come to the project keeping in mind an idea for their personal projects to be realized within the project work. The personal project of the volunteer may include written set of leaflets, club album, creating a radio club station or a website, organize a drama tour or recording a film involving teenagers into these activities, or others. The personal volunteer s project always depends on the volunteer s interests and skills.

Logement et nourriture

AccommodationIn the specially rented furnished apartments in the residential area of Tallinn. Apartment is shared with other volunteers or school teachers. All facilities are provided. No need for a sleeping bag (unless you want to travel in your free time), bed linens are provided. Accommodation is provided for free and food money will be given by the hosting project by the end of each service month. Monthly card for local transport in Tallinn will be provided as well.

LocationThe project is located in city centre of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. More information on www.tallinn.eeLeisure timeThere are a lot of possibilities for leisure time activities as camp takes place in the capital where one can find attractions for all tastes: sightseeing and museums, festivals, concerts, live music, pubs, etc. The camp provides an excellent opportunity to establish contacts with young Estonians and to experience the local life.

Hosting projectThe Language school In Down-Town is a well-known school in Tallinn, Estonia. In this school both youngsters and adults learn different languages: Estonian, English, French, German and Spanish. Except of language lessons students also have chance to attend Conversational Club Listen Twice , where they can practice their language skills, participate in workshops, communicate with other kids and volunteers. Volunteers work with any kid or teen of Tallinn city who wants to join the club activities on the regular or time-to-time visit basis. However, the majority of club members are the junior students of the NGO Language School In Down-Town who belong to three main target groups- children of 7-10 years old, teens aged 11-16 and young adults. About 100 school children of Tallinn city may attend different club sessions or activities during the week and also on Saturdays. The majority belongs to the Russian-speaking community. Project activities take place in the venue of The Language School In Down-Town .

Special requirementsYou have to be really motivated to work with kids. Experience in work with children is an advantage. All interesting ideas of activities for kids, games etc. are welcomed. Please bring some materials, postcards, symbols of your country, posters, maps, music, etc. typical for your country. We expect active volunteers with excellent communication skills, good knowledge of history and culture of their country and ability to present it. Main requirements:- Motivation letter - B2 English level - Age: 20 i 30 years oldPlease note: Before final answer about your participation, project manager of hosting project will have Skype interview with you. Special conditionsProject participation fee is 150 Euro for the whole period of stay.NB It is possible to adapt the project dates to your availability dates however the minimum period of stay is 2 months.

Travail

Most of the work will be done in Vikings Village and it will be outdoors. The work involves, for example, carrying and chopping wood, cleaning wood, some construction and deconstruction works and other tasks around the Village. Some help will be needed also for the Fire Artists event, that takes place during the camp. i such as constructing the stage, carrying things to the event area, cleaning area, set up tents and the whole event area, etc. Be prepared for low winter temperatures outside and being outdoors a lot.

Logement et nourriture

Volunteers will live in the Viking s Village in a common room. Please bring a warm sleeping bag. Toilet and shower are available, also there will be sauna. Volunteers will have at least one meal per day cooked by the villagers, other times volunteers will prepare food by yourselves on a campfire outdoors.

LocationSaula is a small area in Kose Community, about 40 km outside Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. You can get a lot of information on Tallinn on www.tallinn.ee and www.visitestonia.com. More information on Vikings Village is on www.viikingitekyla.eeLEISUREVolunteers are welcome to enjoy the beautiful area of the Village and winter forest around. You will learn and experience a lot about Vikings, their traditions and lifestyle. You will also learn some about Fire and have a Fire safety and first aid training. In the evenings you can expect sitting around a camp Fire or in hot sauna with new friends. Finally, you can see Fire Artists show by the end of the camp.

A real Vikings Village (http://www.viikingitekyla.ee) lies about 40 km outside of Estonian capital Tallinn. Guests and families can visit it and spend time there, having a variety of activities such as arrow shooting, strong hold fights, handicraft workshops, fight and competition events and much more. Village needs constant attention and work to keep it ready for visitors and to develop further. Both in summer and winter there are many tasks to be done and volunteers are invited to help these works.Furthermore, good friends of the Village are Fire Artists community, who organize their trainings and events there. Fire Artists Association was founded to raise awareness of Fire arts, to offer everyone a possibility to learn and perform with any kind or type of Fire Arts. They also promote standards of Fire safety for Fire artists and cooperate with local rescue department. Fire Artists Association will have a little Festival in Vikings Village this winter. To run it they need some construction and preparation help. So, they invite international volunteers to help it out. This camp is for people who want to try real Estonian winter, do not afraid of hard work and wants to feel like a real Viking

Remarques

Please bring warm sleeping bag, warm winter clothes, water resistant warm clothes, hat, gloves, socks and good boots. It is advisable to bring a flashlight. But please take also one set of nicer evening clothes. Be ready for temperatures from 5 to -20C. Be ready to spend most of the days outdoors with any kind of weather, do hard physical work, sometimes for long hours but then having warm relaxing evenings around fire or in sauna It is good if you have skill with fire, camping, resilience and 61514; Motivation letter is required. Camp language is English.
