The young people participating in the project form a heterogeneous group of diverse origins and socio-economic realities, which enriches not only the project participants but also the volunteering process and the proposal for intervention in patron saint festivities in the San Fermín neighborhood. , thus impacting all the neighbors in the neighborhood. Specific objectives:
- Offer an alternative for Leisure and Community Participation to young people in vulnerable situations.
- Create spaces for meeting and cultural exchange between the participants of the work camp and these with the entities, groups of the south-east area of Madrid
- Prepare a program of cultural and leisure activities that complement the San Fermín Neighborhood Festival program.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

“San Fermín” Youth Hostel Avda. de los Fueros, 36 28041 Madrid https://www.comunidad.madrid/centros/albergue-juvenil-san-fermin
The food will be made at the hostel and will consist of breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a mid-morning snack

Lage und Freizeit

The neighborhood is bounded by the Manzanares River to the east, the M-30 and the south junction to the north, Avenida de Andalucía and the Orcasur neighborhood to the west, and the M-40 highway and the super-south junction to the south. In the volunteer camp, not everything is work, and you will have the opportunity to enjoy leisure and free time activities: • Visit to the historic center and other tourist attractions in Madrid, such as the intercultural district of Lavapiés, the Debod Temple, Plaza España, Gran Vía and La Latina. • Visits to the Prado and Reina Sofía museums, and the Royal Palace. • Excursion to Toledo: Sephardic Museum, Toledo Cathedral, Taller de Moro, El Greco Museum.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

The San Fermín Project Association, in collaboration with the San Fermín Neighborhood Association and in coordination with Social Services of Usera and entities and services that intervene in the neighborhood, has prepared a report on the situation of 430 homes in the San Fermín neighborhood, more specifically in the Zona de la Perla, an area with extensive socio-economic problems and in which neighborhood conflicts and coexistence problems have been festering in recent years. This report highlights the serious problems arising from very diverse aspects, ranging from behavior as tenants, neighborhood coexistence, the situation of social exclusion, and the fall to the bottom of the stigmatized space itself. It confirms what lack of intervention entails in an area that has brought together a population of excessively diverse origins: such as rehousing of very diverse types, substandard housing, etc.; without having tissue that relates it, nor a socialization process as a habitat; with a multiform ethnic-social origin that continues to increase; with serious deficiencies not only in the family but also in the socialization process and community coexistence. Based on this analysis, the diagnostic report defines an urban space marked by four items:
Deterioration - Unemployment - Uprooting - Eviction.
From here, a comprehensive intervention plan is proposed that includes 5 fundamental lines of work:
Urban intervention.
Training and Employment.
Socio-educational Intervention.
Community intervention and neighborhood mediation
Transverse.

Arbeit

The purpose of this work camp is to participate in the recovery of old paths and learn the history of the Pyrenees, learn about culture and nature, and participate in both with different activities of preservation and conservation.

The technical work that will be carried out in the field of work consists, in general, in different tasks related to the recovery of the old roads of the valley.
The followings are the main ones:
- Road clearing: mowing grass, bushes, etc., which grow in the spring to leave the roads comfortably passable on foot.
- Remove stones from the road: pick up stones that have fallen on the road and set them aside in an orderly manner at the edges to make the passage passable.
- Rebuild the simplest sections of dry stone wall: rebuild those walls that have fallen and are easily rebuildable.
- Improved signage with paint: review the tracking marks of the paths with paint according to the instructions given to us by the "Alt Pirineu" Natural Park.
- Improved paved sections: some trails have cobbled sections that have worn out, redo these sections in order to maintain the cobbled areas.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The accommodation is in a terrain called "Llavaners", the campsite is at 1000m altitude near a small river and very isolated in the middle of nature. You should definitely be eager to have a (somehow) wild experience!
The terrain is in the municipality of Soriguera, Pallars Sobirà, between “Malmercat” and “Puigforniu” and near “Tornafort”. Location: https://goo.gl/maps/UK2ntLBfazCnLdpc9

You’ll be spending your days in a campsite and you’ll be camping and sleeping in a tent, usually there’s 3-4 participants per tent and no separation gender.
Tents are basic, mainly there’s only space for sleeping or laying down. Tents will be provided by the organization and you’ll be sleeping on a mattress on the floor. You must bring your own sleeping bag (it’s highly recommended a good one as in the Pyrenees it can be cold at nights even in summer time) and mattress.
There are 2 dry toilets near the campsite. There’s no showers available in the camp. Mainly we have some quick-baths at the river with cold water or in the campsite, also cold water.
We strongly recommend bringing eco and biodegradable shower gel or shampoo.
No gender separation for showers, previous agreements will be done with the group. If needed, once or twice during the workcamp you’ll be able to go to Llagunes village (by foot, about 2h walking) and take a shower there in the shelter.
The volunteers are in charge of cooking and to keep the area clean and safe: they will be split in groups, each group will prepare the food for one day, and they will be rotating everyday, so camping in the field and cooking by their own.
In general, lunch and dinner will be warm meals, but exceptions can be made in case of a trekking route or spending the whole day out of the campsite.
But the camp is isolated and there is no possibility to buy food in the area.

There’s no WiFi at the campsite. However, there's mobile phone signal in the area so you should be able to connect to 3G or 4G almost everywhere.
"Llavaners terrain is located near Sort, about 5 km away. It is accessed by an asphalted road up to 1 km and the last one stretch, is a track that maintains the Natural Park of the High Pyrenees.

Lage und Freizeit

The work camp is done in a calm and peaceful area of the Catalan Pyrenees called “Vall de Siarb”.
This place is located inside one of the natural Park in Catalonia (Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu) and the village belongs to Soriguera municipality.
For more information about this part of the Pyrenees you can visit the web site: http://parcsnaturals.gencat.cat/en/alt-pirineu/index.html

Some leisure activities:
- Talk by the members of the Parc de l'Alt Pirineu about the trails and paths and the biodiversity of the Park.
- Visit to the bunkers: visit to the Civil War bunkers in the Coll de Sant Joan, about 4 km from the camp. The context of the Civil War and the specific situation of Pallars Sobirà and the Vall de Siarb will be explained.
- Visit to the Despoblat de Santa Creu de Llagunes: guided visit to the medieval Despoblat where we can see the strategic location of the town, its function during the medieval period and why the wall, the watchtowers.
- Thematic tour of the mills: circular itinerary of the mills, where you can see the remains of two flour mills and a hydroelectric power plant that supplied electricity to several villages in the Vall de Siarb.
- Itinerary of Tornafort: circular excursion that will allow us to get to know the paths of the surroundings visiting the picturesque town of Tornafort.
- Vilamur itinerary: circular excursion that will take us from the land to the village of Vilamur, then towards Soriguera, and following the river we will return to the camp.
- Orientation activity: the group will be divided into different teams and based on a series of clues related to the environment they will have to decipher an enigma or map. This dynamic enhances group cohesion and organization, agility and skills.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

The organization in charge of the work camp is "Balmes Blancs", a non-profit association created in 2010 with the aim of offering unique activities in nature with the aim of presenting new places, new people and deepen, thus, the knowledge of the Catalan territory.
Since its inception, it has organized various activities such as snowshoe outings with animal footprints, astronomical discoveries, kayak outings to discover marine fauna, rafting drops, hiking in the mountains or leveling and safety workshops, among others.
In 2013 the association began working in the Siarb Valley. From that moment on, Balmes Blancs began to focus its activities around this valley and, among other things, guided visits to the "Despoblat de Santa Creu" de Llagunes, visits to the trenches on the Pallars front and to the Vilamur bunkers, discoveries of geology, activities of flora and fauna in the environment.
At the same time, the refuge promotes hiking with the creation of signposted routes around Llagunes, as well as a series of actions aimed at recovering the heritage of the Siarb Valley, to discover life rural in Pallars Sobirà, and in the rest of the Pyrenees.

Lage und Freizeit

Huesca is a small city of 50,000 inhabitants. It is located in the north of Spain, at the foot of the first foothills of the Pyrenees mountain range.

A city with more than 2,000 years of history. Iberians, Romans, Muslims, Jews have walked its streets.

Its pedestrian center, its medieval monuments, its university spirit, its effervescent cul-tural life and the safety of its streets make it a perfect place to carry out activities with young people.

Huesca is also the nerve center of a privileged province: in less than an hour we can find landscapes as different as the desert areas of Los Monegros or the snow-capped peaks of the Pyrenees.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Since 2015 we have verified in "Huesca is Legend" that the combination of volun-teering, performing arts and intangible heritage is an unbeatable starting point for wor-king with young people on concepts such as solidarity, cooperation and integration.

After the years that have passed since then, we continue to be unique, an activity diffe-rent from those generally carried out in the Aragonese territory. Its main characteristics make it an exceptional field, since it tries to recover intangible heritage and disseminate it to enhance its value. And all this through the performing arts. Without a doubt a diffe-rent project.

ITHEC has been working on youth, free time and performing arts issues for more than twenty years. In all this time we have held workshops for young people, theater and dance festivals. But among all these activities that we have carried out with young peo-ple, the camps that took place between 1995 and 2011 in Albarracín (Teatro en Alba-rracín, IAJ) and the Youth Initiative “La Campana de Huesca” financed by the Youth in Action program in the years stand out. 2012 and 2013.

These activities have shown us that the performing arts can be part of young people's leisure, but also their training, in addition to promoting their personal development and even their employability.

The work will be environmental and will consist of maintenance work on the island, fire surveillance, information work and visitor awareness, and specific interventions to improve the park in collaboration with the environmental service workers. Cleaning of the South Island (the only island not communicated by passenger boat). (This activity depends on the park, it cannot be carried out in all shifts).

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The volunteers will stay in tents, which have canvas-based bunks for resting. The facility has barracks for dining and showers. There is no washing machine (hand wash).

Lage und Freizeit

This work camp is located on the Illas Cíes, specifically on the Island of Monteagudo (north) at the mouth of the Ría de Vigo, in the municipality of Vigo (Pontevedra).

The Cíes Islands form part, together with the Cortegada, Sálvora and Ons archipelagos, of the Galician Atlantic Islands Maritime-Terrestrial National Park.

The ecological value of its marine environment is incalculable since within its waters some of the most representative examples of Atlantic marine ecosystems are preserved, which treasure great biological wealth.

The marine environment of the Park is a great mosaic of different habitats that support an extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna. There are important communities such as brown algae forests (Saccorhiza polyschides and Laminaria spp.), or those associated with seabeds such as those of Mäerl, and we also find habitats defined as of community or priority interest within the Habitats Directive of the European Union, such as reefs, lagoons or shallow sandbanks permanently covered with seawater.

The terrestrial environment is strongly influenced by the proximity of the ocean, highlighting the dune systems, the cliffs and the gorse or heather thickets.

Also in the emerged part of the islands we find habitats considered to be of community interest or priority by the directives, such as the gray dunes, the aerohaline coastal scrub or the southern Atlantic humid heather scrub.

The main problem for conservation in this environment has been human pressure. Especially in the Cíes Islands, eucalyptus, pine or acacia plantations have displaced the native vegetation in several areas. The eradication of these native species is a very long-term process that is already being worked on and the results of which will be seen gradually.

Actions are currently being carried out to develop adequate management of public use, waste from the islands, navigation and anchoring of boats, fishing, shellfishing, etc.

Sport fishing and underwater fishing are prohibited within the limits of the National Park.

COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES:
• Sport activities.
• Diving.
• Group dynamics.
• Guided routes.
• Workshops.
• Theme evenings.
• Environmental activities.
