• Cleaning and maintaining pathways.
• Setting up a fire pit area.

• Participating in graffiti and discussion workshops, emphasizing the theme of diversity.

Volunteers will be housed in the Svitene Youth Center, located within the vicinity of the Svitene Manor Park. The Youth Center offers a spacious communal room for everyone to stay together. Situated on the second floor of the Svitenes Community Center (tautas nams), the facility provides shower amenities on the same floor, while the kitchen for meal preparations is on the ground floor. The environment is basic yet comfortable, ensuring a restful stay. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be responsible for their cooking and cleaning. An intercultural evening will be organized, so we encourage you to bring traditional food, recipes, or drinks from your country.

Every evening, volunteers from different countries will be in charge of presenting their country of origin and culture in an informal way. It can be a presentation, a game, theatre – the form of introduction is up to you! Therefore, we encourage you to bring along some food, photos, or anything interesting related to your country for a fun and informative evening amongst other volunteers.

Also it is surrounded by rich cultural and natural landmarks. Notably, in close proximity to Svitene is the Rundāle Palace, one of the most magnificent Baroque and Rococo architecture masterpieces in the Baltic region.
Additionally, nearby attractions include the Mežotne Hillfort, a site of ancient Semigallian settlements, the medieval Bauska Castle, and various other historical and scenic spots. These locations offer a blend of Latvia's rich history and breathtaking landscapes, ensuring that volunteers have a fulfilling and enriching experience during their free time.
This workcamp gives you the opportunity to spend an amazing time in Latvia with other international volunteers and to have an incredible experience where participants share their knowledge with each other while exploring creativity, environmental issues, and intercultural learning.

Festival.
We expect 100 participants to draw graffiti paintings in teams. The festival in Svitene unfolds over three days, focusing on graffiti art and diversity:
Day 1: Participants arrive, register, and set up tents. Group bonding and teambuilding activities.
Day 2: Creating graffiti artworks. Ongoing video filming and radio sessions discussing diversity.
Day 3: Setting up an exhibition of the completed graffiti artworks in the park. Artwork appreciation walk and evaluation by a jury.
This program encapsulates the essence of the festival, blending artistic creation, learning, and community engagement around the theme of diversity. SEEDS’ programme combines learning, sharing, hands-on activities, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, exploring the city and its attractions, as stunning natural attractions in possible excursions. Participants should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances during activities and sightseeing.
Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and puts a bigger emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact.
One of the two options below is also included in this camp as a hands-on volunteering activity day:
1. A day trip to the Hot River area, combined with a cleanup or work with an environmental project in the area, or
2. A day trip to the Reykjanes peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.

Logement et nourriture

SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavík. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, showers, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms or dormitories. Please bring your own sleeping bag.

Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

Situation, loisirs

Reykjavík is a dynamic, modern city which lives in harmony with nature, using renewable energy sources. The world’s northernmost capital bridges the Atlantic, between Europe and North America. Reykjavík is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic. It is an international city with a lively cosmopolitan cultural scene surrounded by beautiful nature.

During this camp, participants can share their love for (and learn more about) global & local environmental issues, as well as photography. If you are interested in topics such as climate change, waste management, animal protection and sustainability, and you also love taking photographs or want to develop your photography skills, then this project is for you!
While developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help create more environmentally aware consumers & travellers!
You will visit local projects on environment and conservation. These may include hands-on activities or guided visits. Some examples include outdoor cleanup tasks, a geothermal power plant, a local fauna and/or flora exhibition or an outdoor Icelandic culture museum. Some of these activities are dependent on conditions such as weather, as well as availability or restrictions of our partner organisations.
You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS' social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.

This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal educational activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environmental protection by joining outdoor coastal cleanup tasks in the shores and beaches.
Additional work will be undertaken in the area of our accommodation such as removing old fences dangerous to wildlife and visitors, as well as helping with renovation and maintenance of the house. We may also be marking some walking paths and, depending on the advance of the mentioned tasks, volunteers might do some forestry tasks in a small forest planted in the area, like trimming the vegetation or planting some trees.
This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walking during the cleanups. Volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule, as depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the planned activities.

Logement et nourriture

SEEDS volunteers will stay in an old farm which has been transformed into an environmental-education centre. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, shower, and a washing machine. Volunteers will sleep in shared rooms, up to 6 people per room. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Remember to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Situation, loisirs

The accommodation is located 1 hour drive south-east from Reykjavík. The house serves as an environmental-educational centre where visitors can have a look at an extensive stone and stuffed animal collection. The house sits under Ingólfsfjall, The Mountain of Ingólfur, with a view to Eyjafjallajökull where the volcanic eruptions started in March and April 2010.
The place is registered as natural Icelandic heritage; the nature, vegetation and birdlife is rich in variety and quantity. The volunteers can enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful and beautiful location with a small stream and a pond nearby. Hiking trails with maps about cultural heritage can be found spread around the area, which is a popular attraction among foreign and local visitors.
The nearest town, Selfoss, only 10 minutes-drive away with 6500 inhabitants, is a centre of commerce and small industries where you find a geothermal swimming pool, shops, museums, cafés and bars.

Partenaire

The Awareness, Engagement & Action project is part of a series of camps organised by SEEDS in cooperation with different partners, where we try to raise awareness about current environmental issues and encourage the volunteers to take action! One of our main goals for the next few years is to contribute to a nation-wide project aiming at cleaning up the Icelandic coastline.
SEEDS works along and supports the Icelandic ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, the Icelandic Environmental organisation Landvernd, the Environmental Agency of Iceland, Umhverfisstofnun and other partners in order to draw attention to the issues of ocean pollution, plastic waste and to engage volunteers in cleaning up actions around the country.

PHASE ONE: PREPARATION
During this phase, the festival is taking form, as we build it up from the ground, starting from the basics as tents and practical stuff, and finishing off with the small final details. Every year we come up with new ideas and plans, we need to decorate the whole area, and that includes building graffiti walls, painting signs, and placing items around the festival. There will of course be a lot of time in the beginning to get to know each other.

PHASE TWO: THE FESTIVAL
This phase is the most stressful but also the most fun! In this phase of the festival, we invite all our beautiful guests to the festival we created in the last couple of days. There will be shifts for every volunteer in different locations, such as the entrance, festival area, cleaning toilets, and other jobs. There will of course be space for a lot of fun and just vibing.

PHASE THREE: CLEANING
This phase starts already Sunday morning when the guests begin to return home, as we pack everything down. This mostly takes us all of Sunday, so there will be time to pack up and say goodbye on Monday.

FREETIME:
Since the camp is so short there will be no days off. The closer we get to the start of the festival there would be more to do. Working hours from Tuesday till Thursday will be from 10:00 in the morning till 20:00. Friday and Saturday there will only be a few shifts we have to cover, and the rest is time off, where you can meet Danish people and experience our festival.

Logement et nourriture

Sleeping + bathroom facilities:
The festival has a sleeping area, where during the actual festival days, the guests and the volunteers will sleep in tents. We will also sleep in that area on the days leading up to the festival days. We can provide tents for you. You just need to bring sleeping bags and an air mattress or similar. Let us know if you need anything, we can maybe lend you it. We will have a trailer bathroom available for you.

Meals + kitchen facilities:
The food will be made by our food and drink provider Jens! He owns the nearby restaurant and will ensure you have plenty of food for all activities until the festival begins, where there will then be food stands.

Situation, loisirs

The area is close to the sea, and it is a bit out in the countryside. The area is an old military missile launcher site, but it’s empty except for two garages we use. The event is at the start of May, and therefore it can be good to bring some nice fleeces and cozy clothing when you’re going to be outside all day!

Travail

Volunteers will help prepare the island for the summer season. Volunteers will beautify the surroundings by cleaning up the area, especially along the coastline, for instance by hand-picking garbage or collecting trash blown by the wind or brought by the sea to the shores and surroundings.
SEEDS volunteers may carry out some gardening activities as well and possibly make and maintain walking paths. Well maintained paths enable people to visit the island without damaging it and this important work also helps to improve safety for visitors. Depending on the advance of the project and weather conditions, volunteers may have other possible tasks such as checking up and repairing garden furniture.
The working day normally runs from 09:00 - 17:00 with breaks for lunch and coffee; however, please be prepared for some flexibility due to the nature of Iceland's changeable weather, as we may not be able to perform some of the tasks or activities planned. The temperature in May can drop during the evenings. Volunteers should have motivation to work outside and work in all kinds of weather, as it can get cold and rainy. The working plan is flexible and it will depend on the needs of our host. No previous experience is necessary.

Logement et nourriture

SEEDS volunteers will be lodged in a local house on Viðey Island, in shared rooms. The facilities are equipped with a kitchen, shower, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

Situation, loisirs

Viðey or “Wood Island” is the largest (1.7 km²) island in the Kollafjörður Bay, just outside Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. The island is covered by many species of plants and at least 30 species of breeding birds have been counted here. Viðey was inhabited soon after the settlement of Iceland in the 10th century. In the beginning of the 20th century, around 100 people lived there. Today the island is uninhabited.
There is a regular ferry connection between the island and the harbour of Reykjavík. The island is only a few hundred metres away from the city and the trip takes a few minutes. This makes Viðey so special; it is a peaceful place, very close to the busy city life of the capital. There are hiking and cycling paths around the island and there is no motor traffic allowed. It also features intriguing sculptural artwork, amongst them all nine pairs of basalt pillars that comprise Richard Serra’s work “Áfangar” and Yoko Ono’s “Imagine Peace” column, a tower of light, which is supported by the widow of John Lennon. Other places of interest on Viðey are related to archaeological research.

Partenaire

SEEDS volunteers will have the opportunity to work on the historical island of Viðey for the 18th year in a row with our host, the city of Reykjavík. Viðey is a popular destination during the summer among Icelandic and foreign visitors. Volunteers will help prepare the island for the summer season. Volunteers will beautify the surroundings by cleaning up the area, especially along the coastline, for instance by hand-picking garbage or collecting trash blown by the wind or brought by the sea to the shores and surroundings.

Over water - over land: this is the name of Europe's first cross-border sculpture trail. You will take care of several sculptures on the German-Swiss sculpture trail and restore them to their original state. Weather and people have left their mark: The stone of the sculptures needs to be brushed to remove moss and lichen, and some sculptures are also sprayed with graffiti. For others, the subsurface needs to be renewed or maintained. The explanatory plates for the objects will also be replaced. In addition, you will completely renew the barbecue area, which is part of the 9km long trail. This area is intended to invite people to combine arts, nature and community.

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in the local multipurpose hall in the centre of the village which is otherwise used for sports and events. This offers plenty of space, a small kitchen and enough sanitary facilities for everyone. Camp beds are provided. Please bring your own sleeping bag and pillow (if required).

Your group of volunteers will be responsible for grocery shopping and cooking together. The food will be bought with the camp budget and everybody will take turns for cooking, washing the dishes and cleaning. In order to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet, we encourage volunteers to reduce meat and try more sustainable dishes.

Situation, loisirs

Hohentengen am Hochrhein lies in the south of Germany, in a kind of bubble surrounded on three sides by Switzerland. Only the Rhine separates the village from Switzerland. The village offers unspoilt nature, numerous sports and leisure facilities (beach volleyball, swimming pools, water sports ...).

Mountain ranges on the northern edge of the municipality, the Rhine Valley opens up to the south, the Rhine glistens in the plain and the Alps in Switzerland greet you on the horizon when visibility is good. With its 3,600 inhabitants, Hohentengen offers the entire infrastructure you could wish for: supermarkets, shops, pubs and much more.

Partenaire

In 2000, 12 internationally renowned artists realised ideas and thoughts on the theme of borders - dividing and uniting - in sculptures. Embedded in the marvellous landscape of the High Rhine, this path is a cultural symbol of friendship and connects the places on both sides of the river and the German-Swiss border. https://skulpturenweg.de/

Now, almost 25 years after its construction, the sculpture trail needs some maintenance. The citizens of Hohentengen would be delighted if this is done with the help of international volunteers completely in the spirit of the path's artistic message.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

First you have to travel to Waldshut. Please check www.bahn.com for a connection from anywhere in Germany or Switzerland. In Waldshut, you will find bus #7340 to Hohentengen. There is a bus every two hours on Sundays. The last bus leaves Waldshut on Sundays at 7.30 pm, so please arrange your travel in a way to be on time for this connection at the latest. Get off at the bus stop "Kath. Pfarramt, Hohentengen".

The focus of the project is permaculture, agriculture and rural empowerment. At the beginning of the camp there will be a day of introduction and getting to know the place with team building activities to promote a good group atmosphere. At the beginning of the camp there will be a day of introductions and getting to know the place with team building activities to promote a good group atmosphere. Each activity will be preceded by an explanation of the meaning of the activity and specifics related to the history, place and context. Most of the activities will be related with the general management of the land. In particular they will be related to vegetable growing and management of vegetable garden, fruit and vegetable picking and processing, taking care and watering small trees and plants, small building, manual and art projects with wood and recycled materials. Volunteers will help with the day-to-day management of the land, and specific activities may arise from specific skills/aptitudes of the volunteers. Tasks can be organised in small groups (2-3 people) who take turns in the activities. Activities last from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. Lunch is prepared by the volunteers that will turn day by day. Dish washing also will be in charge of volunteers. Afternoons are free. In the evenings, collective activities are encouraged, perhaps around a campfire or with board games and musical instruments. Study session - Alice (the host) will introduce the idea behind the A Naca project by sharing her personal experience and vision of how to empower rural areas.

Logement et nourriture

Only vegetarian food will be provided for cooking. There will be four glamping tents, each 5m in diameter, with real inside. The toilet currently available is a composting toilet. Water comes from a well, and it s possible to fill tanks for personal use. The solar shower is outside. Drinking water comes from public wells provided by the town of Antillo. The warehouse is the only indoor space where cooking will take place and is fully equipped. It is possible to cook with gas or wood. Electricity is only available close to the warehouse, which is also where cooking takes place and is fully equipped. There is a canopy to take shelter from the rain.

Situation, loisirs

The municipality of Limina is about 15 minutes by car from S.Alessio/S.Teresa di Riva, which are easily reached by train. Two daily buses (ATM) arrive in the vicinity of the camp site. Nearby are the Ranciara Gorges, which you can visit or take a refreshing swim in, if the season permits; the Sanctuary of Mount Kalfa (1000m with a view of Etna) and small villages. By bus or by internal arrangement among volunteers and host it is possible to reach the villages on the coast (S.Alessio, S.Teresa di Riva) or visit Savoca and Taormina. If you are interested in trekking and nature walks, there are many suggestive paths around here.

Partenaire

The workcamp will be hosted by Alice, who has started her project to create the A Naca agri-bike camp in the town of Limina, in the province of Messina. The project aims to revitalise the Sicilian rural areas and protect them from being destroyed by fire. The A Naca agri-bike camp is located on a non-intensive farm in an unspoilt and sparsely populated area where volunteers can learn about regenerative agriculture and sustainability. It focuses on environmental sustainability, aims to connect people with nature and also provides a place for bikers to stop or repair their bikes, as well as welcoming hikers.

SEEDS volunteers will be mostly working on the hiking trails and walking paths in this beautiful mountanious area. The main tasks of the volunteers will be making and marking the walking trails on the different routes in the area. The work is physical and tools may include the sledge (sledgehammer) and crowbar.
Well maintained paths enable people to visit these amazing areas without damaging them and this important work also helps to improve safety for visitors. Additional tasks may be cleaning or beautifying the surroundings, like hand-picking garbage or collecting trash blown by the wind or brought by some visitors.
Some of the trails are located in an isolated area and the group may spend the day at the work site, therefore it will be needed to prepare packed lunches in the morning as we would return in the late afternoon back to the accommodation. The group may be split during the day to work in different locations.
The working day normally runs from 09:00 to 17:00 with breaks for lunch and coffee; however, please be prepared for some flexibility due to the nature of Iceland's changeable weather. No previous experience is necessary but the work is demanding and requires a good physical condition; it can at times be repetitive.
As it is outdoors work, volunteers shall be ready to adapt and be flexible with the working and free-time schedule, as depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the tasks or activities planned.
Volunteers need to be prepared for working and walking in a raw landscape and sometimes cold weather. Be prepared to experience all kinds of weather and bring warm clothes as the tasks take place outside and it can get cold. Bring warm under-layers, waterproofs, walking shoes/boots, a good sleeping bag and gloves.

Logement et nourriture

This project gives SEEDS volunteers the opportunity to live in a very beautiful mountain hut which has been very popular among visitors travelling into the interior or the highlands. It may be possible to stay in tents some nights. Volunteers will sleep on mattresses in shared rooms. Please bring your own sleeping bag. There are cooking facilities, kitchen, bathrooms and showers in the hut. Volunteers will share the duties of preparing food, cooking meals and cleaning. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions.
Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

Situation, loisirs

In the Lón District, the easternmost area of the Vatnajökull region, lie the Stafafell mountains, also called Lónsöræfi. They dominate the skyline east of the Vatnajökull glacier and comprise one of Iceland’s most extensive protected areas.  Besides the deep, rugged canyons, the landscape displays a wide range of colours owing to the presence of rhyolite and other colourful rocks. The numerous trails make this area perfect for hiking.

Partenaire

SEEDS volunteers will work in the area of Lónsöræfi or the Lón district, located in the East of Iceland, we will work in the municipality of Hornafjörður, in cooperation with some locals and the Environmental Agency.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point will be at SEEDS’ office at 7:00 am in the morning of May 21

Remarques

Participation fee EUR 250 (Euros). The fee can either be transferred in advance via bank transfer, or paid in cash on arrival. The participation fee does not include the transportation from Reykjavík to the camp and back, which will cost EUR 75 (Euros) one way or EUR 150 (Euros) both ways.
This work camp takes place in a very remote place, located in a natural area of extreme beauty. Outdoor free-time activities, for instance hikes or walks in the surroundings, will be arranged for SEEDS volunteers.
It may be very cold and/or rainy, so we recommend bringing warm and waterproof clothes (underlayers, overcoats, scarves, gloves and hats) and good walking shoes, as most of the activities take place outdoors.
