Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Leadership is a non-profit organization bringing together young volunteers with the mission of involving youth in civil society through volunteerism, project design, and cooperation both locally and internationally. Leadership was founded on November 1, 2005, as a youth volunteer organization under the auspices of the public association Leader, a center of civic society initiatives.

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

We confirm the meeting place when we send the volunteer an invitation to participate in the camp.
From the airport to the avtovokzal in Bishkek (bus station)

Option 1: From the airport, you must go to the avtovokzal (or the bus station), where you will then get on a bus that goes to Karakol. From the airport, you can either take a marshrutka, which is a large van type of public transportation. When exiting the airport, this van will be to the right. There is a small sign with a van/bus on it where it comes. The marshrutka comes about every 30 minutes. The cost is standard 60 com. Just tell the driver avtovokzal" and he will tell you when you are there. The ride is about 20 to 30 minutes. Note: If you ask taxi drivers where the marshrutka is or when its coming, they will all tell you that it doesn’t exist or isn’t working that day to try and get you to take a taxi instead.

Option 2: Option 2 is to take a taxi from the airport to the avtovokzal. This is an easier but more expensive route. A taxi from the airport to the avtovokzal costs about 700 com (for the whole car). So if you plan to meet up with someone, you can share a cab for the price of 700 coms. If you share with a stranger however they will try to charge you 700 coms each. For this option, people usually just hire the entire cab for 800 coms and it will take you straight to the avtovokzal. Note: You must haggle and bargain for taxi's. 800 is the usual price, but they will try to charge foreigners as much as up to 2,000 com and try to get away with that price. You must say 700 com and be confident and walk away if (when) they say no. The taxi driver will then say okay and take the 700, or walk away and find another taxi driver. With a taxi the trip is about 20 minutes.

From the avtovokzal (bus stop) in Bishkek to Karakol:

Option 1: At the bus stop in Bishkek, there are a line of about 15 marshrutka's (large van like types of transportation) each with its own destination. The second van goes to Karakol. It will be parked in the second spot underneath the sign that says Karakol. The standard price is 400 com (no aggling/negotiating required) and it will take you to the bus stop in Karakol. The entire trip is around 6 hours, and it stops half way through at a rest area where people can use the bathroom and grab a snack or bite to eat. If you have to go to the bathroom before then, just ask the driver to stop and they will stop on the side of the road (or a public outhouse if you are very lucky and there is one near). They often have them at gas stations so if you are shy about going behind a bush, tell the driver to stop at the next gas station with a toilet (which will be an outhouse).

Option 2: The second option is a taxi. Some haggling is again required (they won't try to rip you off as much as at the airport, but they might say a price several hundred com above the normal price). Again say you know the price is 600 and they will usually agree to that price. However, in the summer it can be around 600 com and sometimes even up to 700 com. Step wagons (cars with 7 seats) will cost about 600 com, where a car with only 4 seats will cost about 600 coms. Aim for 600, as it is possible. As above, the trip is about 6 hours, maybe slightly faster (I usually take the marshrutka as there isn't much of a difference but its cheaper). The taxi will also stop half way through at a rest stop and will stop alongside the road if you say you need to go to the bathroom (men will just turn away from the road several meters behind the taxi, where women will find a bush to hide behind when a bathroom stop is needed).

Note: Some taxi drivers will drop you off at the avtovokzal in karakol (same as option 1), but some will take you straight to your home address (for no additional cost). This is something that must be negotiated before you leave. Simply ask the driver if they will drive you to the avtovokzal, or all the way to your home.

This natural park is a natural reserve that has two lines of volunteering, the first is focused on conservation and its activities are aimed at caring for and protecting the environment, and the second aims at education with children, an alternative school and learning community in the heart of the reserve. As a volunteer you can work in the line that you like the most, having the possibility of working in both lines if you wish. The activities carried out in volunteering are the following:

1. Accompany and assist investigations carried out in the reserve
2. Maintenance of different spots, such as the small lake “laguna”, forest nursery, organic gardens, trails and infrastructure
3. Environmental education
4. Waste and compost management
5. Support in reforestation-restoration work (planting days)
6. Accompany the local, learning community´s activities (accompany walks with the children, starting new projects, accompany learning processes, play...)
7. Language classes with the children (according to the language(s) the volunteer knows)
8. Suggest, develop and carry out new initiatives and projects
9. Other activities according to the skills and abilities of the volunteer and according to the needs of the natural park and community living there

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The volunteer house is located in the heart of a nature park. It has 2 shared rooms with beds available for 4 people individually and one double bed for a couple. There is also a bathroom, an equipped kitchen, a small living room, terrace and washing machine. The house is not always fully occupied. It may happen that you are the only volunteer, depending on the time of year.

Each volunteer who stays for at least two months is assigned a monthly budget to buy food according to his/her diet; the amount is enough to buy basic food in the local market. The volunteers are responsible for cooking their own meals, this is a perfect space to share recipes and carry out a culinary cultural exchange. Vegetarian food is available.

Lage und Freizeit

This natural park is located in the middle of a cloudy forest in the mountains, therefore it can be cold and rainy, depending on the season of the year. Given its location, the reserve is close to Bogotá (40 min approx.), there you will find many places to enjoy the Colombian culture.
In case you do not want to leave the reserve, we have some activities that you can do in your free time such as:
1. Night walks for wildlife watching (weekends)
2. Trekking inside and outside the park (e.g. visiting other village on trails)
3. Extreme sport and wellness activities: zip line, arborism, tree climbing, music therapy (must be agreed in advance with the areas, the park does not cover the cost of this activity)
4. Horseback riding (must be agreed in advance with the areas, the park does not cover the cost of this activity)
5. Bonfires
6. Birdwatching

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

This project will be carried out in cooperation with a natural park, located near Bogotá, between 2.100m and 2.600m above sea level.

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

In Bogotá. The exact meeting point will be given in the infosheet some weeks before your arrival.

Weitere Infos

Extra fee: 50EUR/month.
(The extra fee can change a bit due to the exchange rates).
The extra fee includes accommodation and some pocket money for food.

The activities require constant contact with nature; this means that the volunteer will be finding himself/herself using physical strength and getting his/her hands dirty to get the job done. It is good to know and understand that you can encounter rain, sun, mud and insects. In addition, to carry out the activities it is necessary to walk the different trails, which have steep slopes. Therefore, volunteers should be in good health and willing to walk the different trails.

The water heater depends on the availability of gas, which is brought down to the hostel from time to time. On some occasions, hot showers might not be available. But in general there is hot water available.

The volunteers’ house has limited Wi-Fi (because there is only satellite internet in this remote area). It may only be used for basic needs, such as communication (some calls, messages, mails) and information (research, press), but not for large downloads, videos, streaming (music or movies), video calls, etc.

Working with the children in the park requires a high level of commitment and empathy. We are not looking for teachers, we are looking for people who understand that children are responsible for their learning process, and who want to accompany them in their explorations and self-directed learning.

Volunteers with physical, intellectual and psychosocial disabilities are welcome but the natural conditions of the park and the terrain may represent a risk or difficulty for the volunteer. This will be discussed during the interview.

Anforderungen

• Good health and physical condition, willing to hike the mountain on steep slopes, and understand the implications of working outdoors.
• Have a real interest in volunteering and not consider it just as a way of doing economic tourism.
• Minimum basic Spanish (English is a plus)
• Tetanus Vaccine (highly recommended)
• Minimum 2 months, maximum 6 months
• All participants must have medical assistance insurance, which covers, among others, situations related to COVID-19.
• The volunteer’s participation is confirmed after the extra fee is paid. The payment must be done at the latest 1 month prior to the project starting via bank transfer / Paypal.

Arbeit

The main goal of the foundation is to help provide free, fun, inclusive and impactful activities for every child in the local community and nearby villages.

The volunteer will teach English and help children with their homework out in the community.
The work is either in the local town or in the local Indigenous town of Quebrada del Sol.
There are lessons for the staff, as well in the hostel.

The work includes:
- Plan activities for smaller and bigger groups (little kids 3-5 years old, children / teenagers and staff).
- Structure the activity so that learning occurs while students are being active and having fun.
- Motivate the children, be supportive and always a role model for them.
- Create space for everyone.

There are always other volunteers who help with the activities from the foundation and sometimes the hostel guests join, too.

5-6 hours of help a day, 5 days a week.
Transport is covered by the foundation.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The site is a stunning 2-hectare plot of land with a unique river beach and nature everywhere. You will enjoy daily visits from humming birds and howler monkeys.

It is a well-known hostel with DJs, bar and a lot of young people so be prepared for loud music sometimes, but good vibes are guaranteed.

The volunteer will stay in the hostel in a shared room with other volunteers.
There is free laundry service for the volunteers.
There is Wifi, but not brilliant.

The volunteer will receive 3 served meals per day in the hostel. There are discounted drinks and free drinking water.

Lage und Freizeit

The foundation and hostel are surrounded by nature, a river and the ocean is pretty close, too.
There also are a wide variety of activities available in and around the hostel: table tennis, pool, paddleboards, volleyball, football, tubing, kayak and loads of amazing beaches: Parque Tayrona, waterfalls, entrance to lost city, sunrise hike and much more.
The closest big city is Santa Marta with a national airport, you can reach it from Bogota, the capital, within an hour flight or from Cartagena by bus 5-6 hours. From Santa Marta you can get to the hostel by bus in 1.5h.

This year we will be building a “Green Barn” which is an experiment in northern, cold climate greenhouse heating. Our goal is to utilize a combination of sustainable greenhouse heating techniques that we can demonstrate to others in cold climate situations as a viable and attractive option while expanding our growing season and increasing our food production.
Our long-term goal here at Purple Raven Farm is to produce healthy food in ways that remain resilient under growing climatic, resource and economic pressures so that we can continue to produce food for those in need as we move into this future. We have a wide range of different projects including,
Garden work, vegetable, herb and flower maintenance, wild herb harvesting, garden bed expansion building, taking care of goats, trial building, wood harvesting, building a wood shed, composting, mushroom cultivation, wood chipping, clay oven building, wild berry harvesting, rock moving, soil building.

Arbeit

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING AN INTERNATIONAL LEADER PLEASE EMAIL MAX.BATEMAN@CONCORDIA.ORG.UK DO NOT APPLY.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As well as sending volunteers in the UK all over the world to take part in volunteer projects, we host international volunteers and UK volunteers on our national programme. Our UK projects allow both teens and adults to explore the UK whilst making a difference. Each project is created in close partnership with charitable organisations who's first priority, like ours, is to improve the lives of others.

UK projects might involve:
• Supporting children’s playschemes and summer camps
• Helping to run festivals
• Working with adults and/or children with learning difficulties
• Carrying out environmental work in local parks and nature reserves
• Working at a animal sanctuary
• Supporting educational community farms
• Caring for the elderly

As a UK Coordinator, your will immerse yourself into the project and ensure the international volunteers joining the project will have a rewarding project.

ROLE OBJECTIVES
On most of our UK projects we need one or two experienced group coordinators to represent Concordia and help the project run smoothly. The co-ordinators act as a link between the host organisation, the international volunteers and Concordia. The Co-ordinators work alongside the volunteers and help the group to organise their day to day living and free time. They also manage a budget for food and social activities, to make sure the everyone gets their fair share of work and fun.

Most projects involve volunteers aged 18+, however co-ordinators could also lead groups of international volunteers aged 16-17 (teen projects).

• Ensure their safety
• Coordinate volunteering programme (with host) and leisure activities with the group
• Report any safeguarding concerns
• Support and run sessions, give feedback and create positive environments for young people

Co-ordinators are not responsible for the initial planning and organisation of the project as this is the responsibility of the host organisation prior to the project start.

DUTIES OF THE ROLE

To be part of an exciting programme that has tangible results for the young people involved. This role is demanding and fast-paced but highly rewarding.

Main duties:
• You will need to lead, inspire, and support a team of international volunteers
• Ensure programme content is delivered and understood by the group, acting as a facilitator for your team’s volunteering project
• Lead by example and get involved in leisure and volunteering activities, keeping the team motivated at all times
• Liaising with the work supervisors/hosts, keeping the group informed on work schedules/plans, etc. and giving adequate feedback to both the group and to the hosts when necessary.
• Contacting the project host and researching information on the local area before the project starts.
• Providing reflection sessions for volunteers to share their learning and experience and dealing with any problems arising sensitively and to the best of their abilities.
• Living on site and being available to give help and advice 24 hours a day.

Concordia is a charity based in Brighton. Our mission is to support people to develop skills and gain experiences so that they can thrive. We run programmes that change lives and nurture global citizens who care about each other, their local communities and the world.

We are part of a global community – we work with partners and people from all over the world. All our projects are impactful - whether they are just up the road from us or on the other side of the world. We do this by working with local communities delivering programmes that respond to local needs.

Concordia was founded in 1943 to recruit volunteer labour to encourage peace and reconciliation in the aftermath of the Second World War. Since then, Concordia has supported around three-quarters of a million people to undertake incredible programmes that support local communities all over the world.

Our work as a charity supplies five core services: CYA (Concordia Youth Action), International Volunteering, NCS (National Citizens Service), Seasonal Workers Programme and our Wellbeing Programme. Although all our programmes vary, they are all motivated by our desire to make the world a better place. Our international volunteering programme supports people of all ages to undertake meaningful and locally driven volunteering projects worldwide, either individually or as groups.

Our collective task in this volunteer work camp will be to clean up and begin revitalizing a relief warehouse that provides support to Latvian and Ukrainian citizens who are facing difficulties - distributing food and non-food items, as well as household and hygiene essentials.
Your task under the supervision of our youth will be to provide support and learn together how to putty, paint walls, as well as place charity products and arrange them as needed.
The job is not a "clean" one and you will definitely need to wear dirty clothes to do this job. Our organization will provide you with all the necessary tools and protective clothing - goggles, masks, and other necessities. Previous experience is not required, and under the guidance of our young people who know the job, you will have the opportunity to learn new things and do good deeds for our people. You will be provided with the opportunity to wash your clothing so that it can be used clean again.
The specific warehouse renovation site will be located 4.5 km away from the center of the city of Bauska - you will be provided with transportation or reimbursed for public transportation to get to the warehouse. Work is planned from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM from Monday to Friday. We will provide excursions on one of the weekends or weekday evenings.
At the end of the work, a joint event is planned with Latvian and Ukrainian youth to express mutual gratitude for the work done. The event will provide an opportunity to share experiences, learn from each other, and celebrate the achievements of the volunteer work camp. It will be a festive occasion with music, food, and activities. Additionally, there will be speeches from representatives of the participating organizations and the local community, expressing their appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the volunteers. The event aims to strengthen relationships between Latvian, Ukrainian and volunteers youth, foster a sense of community and promote volunteerism.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

Living in a volunteer work camp can be an exciting and challenging experience that provides the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, and use one's time and energy to help others and gain new insights into the world.
The living space will be in a newly renovated youth house that will be a shared space with mattresses and/or a sofa (depending on the number of people). There will be access to showers, amenities, and a kitchen that will allow volunteers to prepare their meals. The hosting organization will provide the necessary products to make meal preparation easier and more efficient.
Living together in a shared space, volunteers will have the chance to get to know other participants and share their experiences. This can provide an opportunity to make new friends and develop social skills. Additionally, living together, participants can collaborate to complete tasks that were assigned to the volunteers, as well as meet other young people from Latvia.
During their free time, young people will be offered opportunities to explore the city of Bauska and its surroundings, as well as to visit Latvia's capital city, Riga. The youth centre will have a television, game console, and board games available for their entertainment.

Lage und Freizeit

Bauska is a small, yet historically significant city in Latvia, located on the banks of the Lielupe, Mēmele and Mūsa rivers, approximately 66 kilometers from Riga. The city was founded around the 15th century and is associated with several important historical events.
One of the most famous tourist attractions in Bauska is Bauska Castle, which was built in the 15th and 16th centuries as a manor of the Livonian Order and later rebuilt as a Renaissance castle. It has now been restored and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city. The city museum offers various historical exhibitions and an insight into the history of Bauska.
Bauska is also known for its other historic castles and castle ruins, such as Rundāle Palace, whose construction began in 1736 and is one of the most beautiful Baroque-style castles in the Baltic states. Moreover, there are several impressive castles and manors within a few dozen kilometers that we offer to visit.
Furthermore, there is plenty of natural beauty in the surroundings of Bauska. For example, Bauska Hill, which hosts several music festivals, as well as the Bauska river valley, offer wonderful opportunities for walking, cycling, and fishing.
Overall, Bauska is a charming city that offers a lot of historical and natural beauty that must be visited by every tourist who wants to explore Latvia's history and culture.
THIS YEAR BAUSKA DISTRICT HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED AS THE YOUTH CAPITAL OF LATVIA 2023!

All summer camps are held under one common theme, though every camp has its own focus within which everyday activities for youngsters are organized. Each day of the camp program has a special topic to be discussed and a related activity to work out the outcome. There is also a creative and interactive presentation of a country-participant every day to introduce general and interesting facts about the country as well as cultural customs and national traditions to schoolchildren. The standard number of days in a shift is 10 plus 1 optional Saturday, and there is a special agenda on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 10th camp days (camp introductory and final events, the mid-camp event, the day outside Tallinn). Every camp is thoroughly documented. The related activities suitable to support topic discussions and country presentations are as follows: various intellectual and sport games for youngsters, creative team projects like posters and sculptures or board-games, pieces of amateur drama or other types of performances, excursions and workshops, playing the games and music popular in the countries the volunteers represent, teaching their songs or folk dances, etc. There are 4 camp shifts during this summer project, 10-11 days length with an opportunity for kids/teens to join every Monday. Every shift has an option for different ages from 10 to 16 years old. All of them are day camps that are held in Tallinn. The working language is English. A number of volunteers working with schoolchildren in one camp may vary from 2 to 8 (both long-term volunteers for the whole summer and short-term volunteers who may join for 2, 3 or 4 weeks); they work in pairs with one of the camp groups of 10-12 teens or less and change the groups every 2-3 days. Based on the previous year, we expect a number of kids/teens participants in one camp shift as up to 40 split into 2-4 camp groups; the local participants are mainly youngsters from minority groups of Tallinn whose family s languages include Russian.Based on described above, the work and duties of the volunteer include the following: prepare and facilitate topic discussions and camp activities for smaller teams of youngsters as well as larger all-camp events, support and lead youngsters in their work on team projects; help the youngsters and other volunteers in their performances and country presentations; assist the program leader implementing camp activities and trainings for other volunteers; work on the documenting camp events and support the local staff in their work with an international team of volunteers i organizing folders with working materials, making on-line reports and advert, making analysis, compiling the camp albums and leaflets, providing feedback. Other work will include taking turn in assisting with catering and taking care of other volunteers, staying on overnight securing the international teenagers who are accommodated at school, etc. The work can be quite hard, involving long working hours on

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The camp will take place in Tallinn, in the premises of The Language School In Down-Town . The school is based on the 4th and 5th floors in a business building in the centre of the city. In summer time, a part of the school is reserved for the volunteers accommodation that includes several separate dormitory bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, a dining area, a large shower area and two separate toilet cabins. Bed linen, pillows and blankets will be provided, so you do NOT need to bring a sleeping bag unless you want so. The entrance to the school must be kept closed at all times. To facilitate a smooth and safe environment at school during the off-hours, volunteers will take turns managing the access to the school and the accommodation areas (including the responsibility for the safety of people, personal belongings and school property). Catering will be organised by the School on an agreement with the volunteers (selection of times, meals - provided or independent cooking, etc). Public city transport cards will be provided as well.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

The project is organized for local schoolchildren in the age of 10 to 16 years old by the Language School In Down-Town and non-profit association Alternative Language Programs Satellite . Some international teenage participants may randomly join. The common project s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures, customs and traditions to camp participants, develop their cross-cultural thinking and tolerance. At the same time, the project opens wide perspectives for the participants (both youngsters and volunteers) to gain and improve their soft skills, which will make their educational and future working career more successful i such as communication and teamwork skills, language and intercultural competences. Assuring meaningful summer holidays for local and international youngsters, the project s aims are achieved within the framework of international summer language camps where task-based activities, discussion sessions and creative workshops are organized by a team of international volunteers under the leadership of the local staff. The theme of summer 2023 is Skills for Life . The participants will discover why it is of a great value to be a skilful person either in the professional or emotional sphere, how the life skills are integrated in our everyday habits helping us to build up strong personal relationships and successful professional career, to support peaceful diplomacy and global sustainable development, and how to become one of those happy people. Meetings with local and/or international professionals in the field will take place. Thematic photo and video contests for camp participants will be organized.

From time immemorial, the fragrance of sandalwood has delighted the connoisseurs
of perfume. Mysore, India’s‘ Sandalwood City’ also known as the ‘City of Palaces’ is
the cultural capital of the state of Karnataka. For nearly 6 centuries, the kingdom of Mysore was
ruled by the Wodeyar dynasty, who were patrons of art and culture. An enlightened dynasty, the
Vodeyars contributed significantly to the cultural and economic growth of the city and the state. In
Mysore city, an ‘old-world’ ambience prevails. One can almost see the ghosts of years gone by,
hear a faint battle-cry, the clash of weapons, or the boom of a cannon.
The Camp:
The purpose of the camp is to create awareness on environmental issues affecting this city,
Gaining first-hand agricultural knowledge from local farmers, and intercultural exchange are
some of the highlights of this camp.
Education: is to make a difference to the existing educational system by introducing
creative learning methods to the schoolchildren and to improving the facilities of the school,
to create better learning facilities for the children in schools and to provide good
community service along with the camp activities.

Mysore palace is the official residence of the Vodeyar family and was the administrative seat of the
kingdom of Mysore for centuries. Built mainly in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, it houses
a treasure trove of beautiful paintings and objects d’art, collected over the years by the royal
family. Antique lovers will find it hard to budge from here, with such a visual feast at hand.
In Hindu folklore, Mysore was plagued by the demon-king Mahishasura, a buffalo-headed monster.
An ancient stone staircase of 1008 steps leads to the temple of the goddess Chamundeshwari, who
fought and killed the demon, thereby liberating the city from his tyranny. Halfway to the shrine is a
huge statue of a Nandi bull, carved out of a single piece of black granite. Hiking up this historic hill
is a pleasurable experience, from the top of which lies a breath taking view of the city of Mysore

Arbeit

Luz-Saint-Sauveur was a thermal hub for the noble and wealthy throughout the 1800s : the medicinal bathing sites attracted emperors, artists, intellectuals and more. Amongst the historical figures that often-visited Luz was the French emperor Napoleon III (grandson of Napoleon Bonaparte). Fallen in love with the town in the mountains he encouraged its development throughout the 1860s. Today Luz is perhaps the best-conserved heritage from that era in France and elsewhere.

The great writer Victor Hugo described Luz as a “charming old town… beautifully situated in a deep triangular valley… When the miquelets (Catalan militia men) and Spanish smugglers arrived from Aragon … they saw a great light… They named this town light, or Luz.”

You job will consist for the requalification of the entrance to the municipal swimming pool . You will learn the art of masonry and revegetation techniques, to enhance the space and make it accessible for everyone. Throughout your whole stay, you will be accompanied by a 2 camps leaders, one being a technical facilitator who will teach you and help you master the techniques of traditional masonry.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

You will be accommodated in a local apartment building with mixed shared rooms – bring your sleeping bags - with showers and toilets. The group will share the cleaning tasks and prepare meals together. Arbeit

This is the sixteenth year (since 2008) that SEEDS organises a series of International Photo marathons, while we started organising camps open for teenagers in the year 2010.
Throughout the year, participants from all over the world come to Iceland for an immersive photography-related learning camp. SEEDS coordinators help the participants to develop their unique photographic skills through workshops and feedback sessions on technical settings, compositional considerations, as well as to create conceptual frameworks highlighting the participants’ individual style.
Participants will have time to put the theory about photography into practice, walking around and exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant are selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS' social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.
While learning about photography, the participants have the opportunity to explore Icelandic culture by taking part in it, capturing it and also by displaying their work during the camp. One of our objectives is to empower young people to use photography to draw attention to environmental and cultural subjects and issues.
Participants should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium distances during activities and working within a flexible time schedule. Participants will be photographing in their free time outside of workshop hours with images to be discussed at group feedback sessions.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavík. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, showers, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms/dorms of up to 6 people. Please bring your own sleeping bag and towel.
Participants will receive food supplies and be in charge of the cooking and cleaning activities. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Participants should bring food, music, games or films and such from their own culture to share at the international evening.

The fee includes transportation from the meeting point to the camp (on the first day), the Golden Circle and South Shore excursions (1 full day trip each). We will visit spectacular waterfalls, geysers, a glacier, impressive coastline, a volcano crater, the Thingvellir National Park and much more. This camp is open to participants aged 16 to 20. During their stay SEEDS organises a programme that combines learning, sharing, getting to know Iceland and its culture, and having fun while exploring the city and some of the most stunning natural attractions in the Golden Circle and South Shore excursions.
Note that this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a regular workcamp; it has a smaller work part and puts more emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact. We may be able to organise some outdoor voluntary work, but it depends on our partners and the weather conditions.
English will be the language in the camp; basic conversational skills are needed. Additional excursions (eg. Hot River Hike, Snæfellsnes or Reykjanes Peninsula) can be arranged at discount fares in case there is additional free time after the workshops and sessions of the camp.
Weather may be cold or rainy, so we recommend bringing warm and/or waterproof clothes.
