Come and enjoy the warm welcome of the inhabitants of a small town in the heart of Brittany!
The town council of Gouray welcomes you for its first international workcamp where you will help to restore its built heritage, in the centre of the village. An opportunity to experience the local culture and to make unforgettable inter-generational encounters.
Beyond the reconstruction, you will be required to work on the history of the town!
You will restore a washhouse, using traditional masonry techniques. The intervention will focus on the masonry and the restoration of the wash house, based on photos and historical documents of the site. Your goal will be to reconstruct both the history of the building and the stones that constitute it.

Logement et nourriture

You will sleep in two-person tents (please bring your sleeping mat and a warm sleeping bag) near the sports field. The group activities and meals will take place in a room made available to the group. Toilets and showers will be accessible near the campsite. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the camp leaders and you will participate in the shopping and the preparation of meals, prioritising products from the market and local producers.

Situation, loisirs

Gouray (around 1200 inhabitants) is located in the county of “Cotes d’Armor”. There are several hiking trails around the town. You will be able to go on a trip to the sea or to do leisure activities in the town of Loudeac (around 9 000 inhabitants), only 30 km from Gouray. You will also be able to share convivial moments with the inhabitants and the young people of the town.

Gouray is a small rural town of about 1200 inhabitants located in the centre of Brittany. It is a charming village, whose church is also being renovated. This first workcamp allows it to restore its local heritage. The inhabitants are delighted to see people from all countries coming to help reconstruct their build heritage and become part of the town’s history.

The meeting point is scheduled at SAINT-BRIEUC train station on the 06/07 at the end of the afternoon. The exact meeting time will be given with the infosheet which will be sent at the latest 4 weeks before the start of the workcamp.

From PARIS, you can take a train from PARIS Montparnasse train station, regular departures are scheduled throughout the day. The trip last about 2 hours and half and 3 hours.

Commentaires additionnels

You will have to bring warm clothes (trousers, sweater, socks, closed shoes, rain clothes) and light ones (skirts or shorts, t-shirts, open shoes) because the weather can change very suddenly in Brittany. You can literally experience all four seasons in one day! Please also take with you working clothes, gloves and shoes in addition to your swimsuit. Bring a warm sleeping bag and an insulated camping mat as nights are sometimes fresh and wet.
You can bring board games, a musical instrument or anything else from your region/country that you would like to share with the group.

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
