Trabajo a desarrollar en el voluntariado

In a small valley in the heart of a sublime alpine landscape lie the remains of an ancient abbey dating from the 12th century. For 30 years, a local association has been committed to preserving and promoting the site, while contributing to the life of Clausonne and the writing of its current history. This project is just one of many initiatives involving international and local volunteers, people in professional reintegration, and other professionals over the years. Last summer, the construction of a wooden hiker's shelter to welcome visitors was completed. This year, preservation work on the abbey building is planned.

You will work on consolidating the stone masonry walls of the ruins of the Clausonne Abbey apse. After learning how to make lime mortar, you will work on repointing the stone masonry. A local craftswoman will guide you in making and using the mortar, as well as the placement and size of the stones. Each day, two group members will take turns preparing the team's meals; the menu will be defined in advance. You will work on the site during the mornings from Monday to Friday. Generally, the work involves masonry, preparing tools and meals, as well as organizing and setting up collective life.

Alojamiento y comida

You will be accommodated in a mixed dormitory; a kitchen, toilets, and showers will be at your disposal. We will welcome you to Ferme du Faï, a former mountain farm located at an altitude of 1,000 meters. The site lives today thanks to a team of employees working on building renovation, international volunteers, artists and musicians in residency, hikers, and curious visitors. Here, we pay attention to our diet to reduce our environmental impact: we eat local as much as possible and reduce our meat consumption to twice a week. Daily life is organized collectively: planning menus (vegetarian, vegan, etc.), grocery shopping, activities, etc. We organize trips for groceries once or twice a week using the vehicles available on site. Roll up your sleeves and join us on the workcamp and in our collective living space!

Localización y ocio

The Clausonne site is a 20-minute walk from the Ferme du Faï. Le Faï is located 2 km from the village of Le Saix and 13 km from the town of Veynes. There is no Wi-Fi and the connection is weak, but you will meet people from all over the world!
Leisure : The site is located below the summit of Aujour mountain, which might make you want to go hiking during your free time. Indeed, this place in the heart of nature is ideal for enjoying mountain walks. Discover this area with the group of international volunteers you will meet there; it will enrich your experience. Here, you will be the protagonists of your stay: you will play an important role in organizing your time with the support of the leadership team.

Direcciones al punto de encuentro

We will take you by shuttle to the Ferme du Faï from the Veynes-Dévoluy train station. Meeting point on June 15th, 2026, from 3 pm onwards.

Volunteers will support the members of the cooperative in the maintenance of the organic vegetable garden, in particular in the cultivation, sowing and harvesting, in the setting up of the fruit and vegetable shop. Some renovation work can be organised according to the needs of the place. The work is mainly manual and is only organised in the mornings due to the high temperatures (between 7:00 - 12:00). Afternoons are free and volunteers can explore the surrounding area or take public transport to the beach. Depending on the interest of the volunteers, it is possible to organise workshops to decorate the interior of the house. At the end of the workcamp, there could be a cooking workshop with the volunteers of the cooperative and the young migrants hosted by the cooperative. Study part: Members of the cooperative will share their stories and experiences of managing property confiscated from organised crime and their knowledge of organic farming.

The social cooperatives I Locandieri were born from the idea of cooperation between individuals and institutions, with the mission of generating social and economic value for the benefit of as many people as possible. They offer services to people, especially migrants, and since 2008 they have been welcoming migrants in two communities, including minors and families. One of their missions is to give new life to the confiscated property. Over the years they have given back to the community places confiscated from crime, transforming them into communities for migrants and sports facilities for children, young people and migrants living in Castelvetrano.Il Giardino delle Arance is another confiscated property that has been returned to the community: a small building from the late 18th century with three hectares of land that has been renovated to become a home for minors; a cottage that will become a space-lab for the processing of home-grown agri-food products and a shop to sell the garden s produce. Outside, there are 2 hectares of citrus groves and 1 hectare of land where an intensive organic vegetable garden has been created to implement an ambitious socio-economic project.

Trabajo a desarrollar en el voluntariado

This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environment protection by joining outdoor cleanup tasks.
These cleanup tasks may be arranged in partnership with the above mentioned organisations or run solely by SEEDS. We also aim to involve the local community, so some of our events may be open to the public. We hope participants will learn how to plan and carry out their own trash cleaning projects back at home. This project is based on similar activities around the world, where outstanding results have been achieved with volunteers. Volunteers can choose one of the two options below, included as hands-on volunteering activity in the camp:
A day trip combining a visit to the Hellisheiði geothermal power plant, a trash collection in the area, and the Hot River Hike, a hike up a valley filled with hot springs where one can bathe.
A day trip to the Reykjanes Peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.
Please note that all activities are subject to weather conditions and the availability of our partners.
This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walking medium to long distances during the cleanups, and during other activities such as sightseeing. Since a part of the project happens outdoors, volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule. Depending on the weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities as planned.

The camp is based at Alviðra, which offers a range of activities to connect people with nature, such as community gardens, wildlife workshops, school programs, and hikes. As part of the camp, volunteers help maintain the center through tasks like gardening, renovating the house and other projects such as removing old fences to protect wildlife, marking walking paths, and potentially do forestry work like trimming or planting trees.

This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should be prepared to share environmental issues from their home countries and be ready to spend time outdoors. The accommodation is located an hour drive south-east from Reykjavík. The house serves as an environmental-educational centre and sits under Ingólfsfjall, The Mountain of Ingólfur, with a view of Eyjafjallajökull where the volcanic eruptions began in March and April 2010.

The place is registered as natural Icelandic heritage; the nature, vegetation and birdlife is rich in variety and quantity. The volunteers can enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful and beautiful location with a small stream and a pond nearby. Hiking trails with maps about cultural heritage can be found throughout the area, which is a popular attraction among both foreign and local visitors.

The nearest town, Selfoss, only 10 minutes-drive away, with 6500 inhabitants, is a centre of commerce and small industries where you find a geothermal swimming pool, shops, museums, cafés and bars.

Additional excursions (e.g. Golden Circle, the South Shore or Reykjanes Peninsula or a day-trip to the city of Reykjavík) can be arranged at discount fares depending on time availability, weather conditions, and the number of volunteers interested.

The weather may be cold or rainy, so we recommend bringing warm and/or waterproof clothes.

Trabajo a desarrollar en el voluntariado

Note that this is a learning/sharing camp and not a regular workcamp; this project has a smaller volunteer work part and emphasises the personal learning process over the community impact. We may be able to organise some outdoor voluntary work, but it depends on our partners and the weather conditions.
Participants will have time to put the theory about photography into practice, exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant will be selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS' social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods, and laptops, if possible. While learning about photography, the participants have the opportunity to explore Icelandic culture through active participation: capturing it, engaging with it, and showcasing their work throughout the camp. One of our goals is to empower young people to use photography to highlight environmental and cultural subjects and issues.
Participants should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium to long distances during activities and working within a flexible schedule. Participants will be photographing in their free time outside of workshop hours with images to be discussed at group feedback sessions.
This camp is open to participants aged 16 to 20. During their stay, SEEDS organises a programme that combines learning, sharing, getting to know Iceland and its culture, and having fun while exploring the city and some of the most stunning natural attractions in the Golden Circle and the Hot River hike excursions.

Trabajo a desarrollar en el voluntariado

The work is hands-on, physically demanding, and carried out outdoors, often on uneven terrain. Volunteers should be motivated to work in raw and isolated mountain landscapes and be prepared for changing Icelandic weather. No previous experience is required; instructions and tools are provided. Flexibility, good physical condition, and a positive team spirit are essential, as tasks and schedules may change due to weather.
Volunteers will gain practical experience in outdoor and environmental maintenance, contribute to community recreational areas, work in an international team, and spend time in nature while supporting local projects.
A typical working day starts in the morning after breakfast. Work usually lasts 7–8 hours per day, including breaks. Lunch is taken together, either outdoors or at the accommodation. After work and during weekends, volunteers have free time to relax, explore the area, for social activities, cultural exchange, games, or group time.
The camp takes place around the summer solstice, when the sun barely sets and nights are almost as bright as the days. Volunteers will have the opportunity to experience the midnight sun, making it unique and memorable.

Alojamiento y comida

SEEDS volunteers will stay in one of the lodges in the mountains and sleep in a shared dormitory. Please bring your own sleeping bag. facilities are basic with an equipped kitchen, dining and living room, bathroom, shower and a washing machine.
Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

Localización y ocio

The skiing areas of Bláfjöll are about 40 minutes drive from the city. The location is remote and isolated, even though it is still close to the city. The Blue Mountain range is situated near the ring road and stretches from the capital area to the south-western lowlands, the highest mountain reaching 600 m.
The area has great slopes for downhill skiing and snowboarding as well as tracks for cross-country skiing. The areas are excellent for recreation, not only for alpine and cross country skiing, but for other outdoor activities as well such as hiking and mountain biking. Nature lovers are certain to find something to their liking, but it is important to be careful crossing the rugged lava fields because of the numerous caves underneath.

SEEDS volunteers will support the Reykjavík Municipality in the main outdoor skiing recreational areas of the capital region, at Bláfjöll (Blue Mountains). The main tasks focus on maintenance and preparation of the area for the summer and the next ski season. This includes maintaining slopes and trails by raking and scraping, general cleaning of the mountain areas, and collecting trash, debris, and natural waste.
The municipality and several sports associations run lodges and mountain huts there and they may also need some renovation jobs, such as painting and/or cleaning. In addition, volunteers may assist with the maintenance of a local Bike Park and surrounding outdoor areas, including cleaning slopes and green areas, mowing grass, repairing and improving walking and biking paths.

Once again this year, a craft project will be the focus of the work camp. Together, we will plan and implement practical construction projects for the site, such as building furniture for the group accommodation or constructing ramps and other structural elements to make the centre more accessible. This involves sawing, drilling, screwing and hammering –under expert guidance and with professional tools and machines. No previous craftsmanship skills are required; what is important is an interest in practical work, team spirit and the desire to create something lasting together.
Depending on the course of the project, the group may also become socially active. This means that individual craft projects will not only take place at the youth centre, but may also benefit other inclusive projects and initiatives in the neighbourhood. In this way, your work will support local institutions or groups and contribute to strengthening inclusive structures in a very concrete way.
We are delighted that a group of young people from the region with different disabilities and abilities will be part of the project. Together with the international volunteers, we are forming small teams that can support each other, learn from each other and grow together in the tasks. These mentorships enable an inclusive exchange in which everyone can contribute their individual strengths. Our aim is to create an open and respectful atmosphere in which all participants can actively take part in the work camp and gain new experiences.

Alojamiento y comida

The volunteers live in our centrally located self-catering house ‘Sharewood Lodge’. In addition to a spacious kitchen and two bathrooms, there are three bedrooms in the house, each with five beds (maximum six). In general, the buildings on the extensive grounds allow for all-day outdoor living.

Region: Jugendhof Bessunger Forst e.V. is located on the edge of the forest between the city of Darmstadt and the village of Roßdorf. The suburban area marks the transition from the Rhine-Main region to the Odenwald low mountain range and is located 30 kilometres south of Frankfurt am Main and 50 kilometres north of the picturesque city of Heidelberg.
Leisure time: The Jugendhof is located on the edge of the Bessunger Forest, which is easy to explore from here. On hot summer days, the shady forest offers a good opportunity to cool off and the wide-open meadows invite you to enjoy a relaxing picnic. You can enjoy meetings in a wooden yurt, which was built from an international workcamp as well. An hour's walk through the woods and meadows takes you to a beautiful bathing lake with a small sandy beach. Darmstadt is also very interesting culturally, as it was one of the centres of European Art Nouveau at the beginning of the 20th century. The “Mathildenhöhe Artists Colony” in Darmstadt has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2021. We highly recommend a visit to the impressive and unique site, including the museum and the Orthodox chapel. Fancy more action? Then visit the climbing park high up in the trees with its very different levels of difficulty.

Jugendhof Bessunger Forst e.V. is a non-profit children's and youth centre and one of the oldest self-managed establishments in Germany. Situated in the forest on the outskirts of the city of Darmstadt, we maintain the tradition of a place of learning and leisure close to nature and life with down-to-earth, resource-saving accommodation. For over forty years, groups of children, young people and adults, families, clubs and political initiatives have been coming together here and finding plenty of space to learn, run around, play, relax, meet, develop or simply be outdoors and be together. In spring and summer, we open the “ForstLove Café” on Sundays with a colourful musical programme. Day trippers, city travellers and fresh air fans can relax here in the green idyll of the large grounds. Our offer is aimed in particular at families and people on low incomes and the appreciation of heterogeneity and diversity is very important to us. You can find Jugendhof on the Internet: jugendhof.org.

Trabajo a desarrollar en el voluntariado

Volunteers will participate in the classic activities of collecting, sorting, selling, recycling, and repairing materials that characterize Emmaus communities. They will work alongside local volunteers and community members, both in activities and leisure moments. Volunteers will help organize the solidarity flea market, select and place materials for the market, and participate in the organic zero-mileage vegetable garden. Those interested in salvaging and restyling can assist with improvement projects and workshops such as gardening, painting, wood working, tailoring and space recovery. The main focus of the camp is to regenerate and transform in a creative and sustainable way of thinking the community leaving and working spaces.

Alojamiento y comida

Volunteers will sleep in the community hall and in other rooms where mattresses and/or camp beds will be provided, there will be separate rooms for girls and boys. The site includes a shaded garden, toilets, showers, hot and drinking water, and electricity. Lunch is prepared by the Community while the volunteer will take care of the dinner. The main diet is Vegetarian/Vegan and meat/fish will be included twice a week. Alcohol is forbidden inside the community.

Volunteers can visit nearby places at their own costs. Florence and other locations such as Prato e Pistoia can be reached by public transportation. The community is located on a little hill surrounded by a beautiful landscape typical from Tuscany and the Market is in the Village of Quarrata. Excursions and visits of cultural and natural places are organized by the Community as part of the experience. If leisure activities include people from the local community, the consumption of alcohol is forbidden.

The Emmaus Community of Quarrata is part of the global Emmaus Movement, which aims to combat poverty and social exclusion through the principles of work, sharing, and mutual aid. Emmaus takes part as well in solidarity actions in Italy and around the world and raises awareness about their values and mission. Our main activities include the collection, reuse, and recycling of used materials, displayed at the Solidarity Flea Market. We also maintain an organic vegetable garden and care for the community s green spaces. Volunteers will spend their days participating in activities and sharing free time with the people hosted by the community.

The project will offer a mix of cultural immersion, eco trekking and understanding community life. Three activities are planned. In cultural immersion, three sites will be covered: 1: Haripur or Joharji Gurudwara (an age old temple of Sikhism religion importance where people visit to take blessings and fulfill their wishes), 2: Hanuman Mandir (probably the oldest Lord Monkey Temple) and 3: Snake Temple. All these places are historical but do not figure on international tourist map.
A short eco-trek will also be planned involving a cleanliness drive.

During the camp, a community grass roots experience sharing session will also be planned where they would participate and learn from our ongoing initiatives like NFE, women empowerment, NRM (Protection of fresh water sources), organic farming etc.

Alojamiento y comida

Volunteers will stay at peaceful RUCHI campus on twin/triple sharing basis. Bed and beddings are provided. Simple basic amenities will be available. Though cooked authentic Indian vegetarian meals will be served volunteers are expected to assist the cook.

You will be accommodated in a campsite, in individual tents. A kitchen, dry toilets, and showers will be at your disposal.

Leisure activities: The site is located below the summit of Aujour mountain, which might make you want to go hiking during your free time. Indeed, this place in the heart of nature is ideal for enjoying mountain walks. Discover this area with the group of international volunteers you will meet there; it will enrich your experience. Here, you will be the protagonists of your stay: you will play an important role in organizing your time with the support of the leadership team.
