From time immemorial, the fragrance of sandalwood has delighted the connoisseurs
of perfume. Mysore, India’s‘ Sandalwood City’ also known as the ‘City of Palaces’ is
the cultural capital of the state of Karnataka. For nearly 6 centuries, the kingdom of Mysore was
ruled by the Wodeyar dynasty, who were patrons of art and culture. An enlightened dynasty, the
Vodeyars contributed significantly to the cultural and economic growth of the city and the state. In
Mysore city, an ‘old-world’ ambience prevails. One can almost see the ghosts of years gone by,
hear a faint battle-cry, the clash of weapons, or the boom of a cannon.
The Camp:
The purpose of the camp is to create awareness on environmental issues affecting this city,
Gaining first-hand agricultural knowledge from local farmers, and intercultural exchange are
some of the highlights of this camp.
Education: is to make a difference to the existing educational system by introducing
creative learning methods to the schoolchildren and to improving the facilities of the school,
to create better learning facilities for the children in schools and to provide good
community service along with the camp activities.

Lage und Freizeit

Mysore palace is the official residence of the Vodeyar family and was the administrative seat of the
kingdom of Mysore for centuries. Built mainly in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, it houses
a treasure trove of beautiful paintings and objects d’art, collected over the years by the royal
family. Antique lovers will find it hard to budge from here, with such a visual feast at hand.
In Hindu folklore, Mysore was plagued by the demon-king Mahishasura, a buffalo-headed monster.
An ancient stone staircase of 1008 steps leads to the temple of the goddess Chamundeshwari, who
fought and killed the demon, thereby liberating the city from his tyranny. Halfway to the shrine is a
huge statue of a Nandi bull, carved out of a single piece of black granite. Hiking up this historic hill
is a pleasurable experience, from the top of which lies a breath taking view of the city of Mysore

This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environment protection by joining outdoor cleanup tasks.
These cleanup tasks may be arranged in partnership with the abovementioned organisations or organised solely by SEEDS. We aim to also involve the local community, so some of our events may be open to the public. We hope participants will learn how to plan and do their own trash hunting projects back at home. This project is based on similar activities around the world, where outstanding results have been achieved with volunteers. One of the two options below is also included in this camp as a hands-on volunteering activity day:
A day trip combining a visit to the Hellisheiði geothermal power plant, a trash hunt in the area; and the Hot River Hike, a hike up a valley filled with hot springs where one can bathe.
A day trip to the Reykjanes peninsula, combined with a coastal cleanup in the area.
All the activities are dependent on conditions such as weather and availability of our partners.
This camp combines learning, sharing, hands-on work and fun. No previous experience is needed. Volunteers should prepare to share environmental issues from their countries and be ready to spend time outdoors, walk medium distances during the cleanups, as during other activities and sightseeing. As a part of the project happens outdoors, volunteers should be ready to adapt and be flexible with the work and free-time schedule, as depending on the changeable weather, we may not be able to perform some of the activities (as) planned.

Lage und Freizeit

The cultural exchange program and excursions will be organized during the free days of the workcamp optional.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Since 2000 we have had volunteers around the world joining our summer programs which were designed around building sustainable vegetable farming facilities. Over the years we have learned that developing eco-friendly and sustainable farming facilities does require a lot of research on improving our farming methods, learning the best practices from local farmers on improving the crop quality and perseverance despite the setbacks which were imminent in harsh Mongolian continental climate, with long, frigid winters and short, warm summers.
We are hoping to transform our eco-friendly vegetable farming facility into a sustainable organic farming training center that teaches low-income families how to grow healthy greens on their own. Organic fruits and vegetables are sparse and expensive in Mongolia which makes them unaffordable for many low-income families. We are planning to donate any crops from our facilities to families in need in addition to providing them with the knowledge of how to grow their own crops.

Volunteers will stay in an old farmhouse, Alviðra, 1 hour drive south-west from Reykjavík. The house serves as an environmental-educational centre where visitors can have a look at an extensive stone and stuffed animal collection. The house sits under Ingólfsfjall, The Mountain of Ingólfur, with a view to Eyjafjallajökull where the volcanic eruptions started in March and April 2010.
The place is registered as natural Icelandic heritage; the nature, vegetation and birdlife is rich in variety and quantity. The volunteers can enjoy outdoor activities in a peaceful and beautiful location with a small stream and a pond nearby. Hiking trails with maps about cultural heritage can be found spread around the area, which is a popular attraction among foreign and local visitors.
The nearest town, Selfoss, only 10 minutes-drive away with 6500 inhabitants, is a centre of commerce and small industries where you find a geothermal swimming pool, shops, museums, cafés and bars.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

The Awareness, Engagement & Action project is part of a series of camps organised by SEEDS in cooperation with different partners, where we try to raise awareness about current environmental issues and encourage the volunteers to take action! One of our main goals for the next few years is to contribute to a nation-wide project aiming at cleaning up the Icelandic coastline.
SEEDS works with and supports the Icelandic ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, the Icelandic Environmental organisation Landvernd, the Environmental Agency of Iceland, Umhverfisstofnun and other partners in order to draw attention to the issues of ocean pollution, plastic waste and to engage volunteers in cleaning up actions around the country.
This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environment protection by joining outdoor coastal cleanup tasks.

Come and learn about permaculture in the sumptuous setting of the Aravis mountains by
participating in a garden redevelopment project!
The Youth Hostel of La Clusaz welcomes all year long many tourists who take advantage of
their stay to discover the beauty of the surrounding nature and to practice many outdoor
activities. The hostel has created a permaculture garden which reflects the local biodiversity.
The garden is an open space, accessible to all, and allows the observation of nature, to
recharge one's batteries and to understand the interactions between ecosystems. During this
first volunteer workcamp, you will work on the redevelopment of the garden from the existing
one and you will be able to create additional arrangements to offer an additional
embellishment (wood or stone construction).
No specific skills are required. If you are sensitive to the preservation of the environment in
the mountains and you like to work in a team, this workcamp is for you.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

You will be accommodated in the Youth Hostel, in dormitories with individual beds
(remember to bring your sleeping bag). The toilets and showers will be in the rooms or on the
landing. Breakfast will be offered every morning by the youth hostel. Together, you will
participate in the organization of the collective life (cleaning, activities...) and in the
preparation of the meals, in turn, from products which will be bought nearby. We wish to
encourage vegetarian food with local and seasonal products while respecting the diets of the
participants and discovering together the local cuisines. You will be in contact with the clients
of the youth hostel, which will reinforce the exchanges.
The youth hostel has Wifi in the common areas.

Lage und Freizeit

With a breathtaking view on the Aravis valley and the Mont-Blanc, the Youth Hostel of La
Clusaz is located at 1250 meters of altitude. Accessible on foot, by bike or by car, the
establishment is close to the center of the resort which offers many amenities (shops, local
and health services...). On site, outdoor activities are numerous and hiking enthusiasts will
be delighted by the opportunities offered by the alpine massif. Many excursions are also
possible: Annecy and its lake, Chamonix Mont-Blanc, Aiguille du Midi... Of course, you will

not escape from the tasting of the local gastronomy with a special mention for the cheeses!
The proximity of the Annecy train station and the Geneva airport, both located about 40
kilometers away, will facilitate your trip. Buses also serve the resort regularly.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Concordia has been collaborating with the youth hostel network for three years in the context
of volunteer workcamps. This partnership is developing this year with a new project within
the establishment located in La Clusaz. It is with the desire to strengthen the international
and intercultural dimension of its activity that Clement, the director of the hostel, wanted to
welcome a group of volunteers. The environmental dimension is also an issue at the heart of
the priorities of a tourism that is evolving under the effect of climate change.

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

The meeting point is set at LA CLUSAZ “gare routiere” bus station on the 23rd of June in the end of the afternoon. The exact meeting time will be given with the infosheet which will be sent at the latest 4 weeks before the start of the workcamp. The meeting point is accessible with the bus Y62 from the TGV train station of ANNECY which is served from PARIS, LYON, CHAMBERY and GENEVA. The bus ride lasts 1 hour.

If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than
airplane) for a sustainable international workcamp.
For more information about trains: https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/
If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel.

Weitere Infos

Remember to take clothes and shoes for work, not fearing dirt.
In the mountains, despite the sunshine, the weather is surprising and can change quickly.
For leisure activities, it is necessary to bring clothes adapted to the climate (fleece or warm
sweater, shorts and hiking pants, windbreaker, down jacket, warm socks...). For hikes, shoes
with a high and notched upper are recommended. Don't forget sun protection (hat or cap is
essential, sunglasses with a high protection factor because of the intense reverberation,
sunscreen with a high protection factor IP 30-50...) and a bathing suit for swimming or white
water activities.
For accommodation, remember to take a warm sleeping bag and a towel. You should also
bring a backpack (in addition to your luggage), comfortable sneakers and a pair of flip-flops
for your movements in the youth hostel. It will also be useful to bring these essential
accessories: a cell phone charger, hiking poles (not mandatory but recommended), a water
bottle, a set of bandages and a headlamp or flashlight.
Friendly times will be programmed in collaboration with our leaders and according to your
desires. We will organize thematic evenings in each country. If you wish to share a bit of your
culture (cooking recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects, music...), do not hesitate to take
a little piece of your country/region in your backpack.

Arbeit

This camp allows volunteers to learn about global and local environmental issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits, as well as to contribute directly to environment protection by joining outdoor cleanup tasks. These cleanup tasks may be arranged in partnership with the abovementioned organisations or organised solely by SEEDS. We aim to also involve the local community, so some of our events may be open to the public. We hope participants will learn how to plan and do their own trash hunting projects back at home. This project is based on similar activities around the world, where outstanding results have been achieved with volunteers. One of the two options below is also included in this camp as a hands-on volunteering activity day: A day trip combining a visit to the Hellisheiði geothermal power plant, a trash hunt in the area; and the Hot River Hike, a hike up a valley filled with hot springs where one can bathe.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavík. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, showers, and a washing machine. Everyone is expected to show consideration for their companions. Participants will sleep in shared rooms/dorms of up to 6 people. Please bring your own sleeping bag and towel. Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music, games or movies from your country for the intercultural evening. Please be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you will need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.

Volunteers will be cleaning up the shores and beaches. Additional work will be undertaken in the area of our accommodation as removing old fences dangerous to wildlife and visitors. We may also be marking some walking paths and, depending on the advance of the mentioned tasks, volunteers might do some forestry tasks in a small forest planted in the area or support in the renovation and maintenance of the house.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

This project gives SEEDS volunteers the opportunity to live in an old farm which has been transformed into an environmental-education centre. The facilities are basic with a kitchen, shower, and a washing machine. Volunteers will sleep in shared rooms or dormitories. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
Volunteers will receive food supplies and will be in charge of cooking and cleaning. Please note the food SEEDS provides will be vegetarian. Lage und Freizeit

We seek to raise awareness in the population about the care of the Villa María Wetland, which is a temperate marine-coastal ecosystem and is home to various varieties of birds, fish, food plants, and forest resources. It works as a resting, food and refuge area for many migratory birds that make intercontinental trips, looking for places to spend their non-breeding season in winter, however, it is in permanent risk due to the lack of care of the population and authorities, plastic waste, arson, etc.

PROJECT’S ACTIVITIES

• Promote and execute cleaning campaigns around the wetlands and also some community beaches.
• Non-formal educational workshops and talks will be held in the city's schools to raise awareness about caring for the environment and its importance.
• The volunteers together with the members of the project will organize an excursion to carry out a photographic and video session of the flora and fauna of the wetlands in order to have as a result an exhibition that will be offered to the community.
• Hold a fair in the main square on environmental issues such as: recycling, compost, animal care, etc.
Hours: Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m

The main work is helping at the eco farm through work such as removing the weeds in the field, working in the greenhouse, making water canals for the farm, making compost, etc. Quite tiring but let's enjoy it.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

Summer house and Mongolian traditional tents which is GER (traditional tent). Need to bring a sleeping bag! Cooked by volunteers with local staff.

Lage und Freizeit

The cultural exchange program and excursions will be organized optionally during the free days of the workcamp.

Arbeit

The work will be mostly environmental and constructional. The idea is to help renovate a house that is serving as a volunteering centre in which it will be established environmental-friendly and sustainable agriculture in the gardens in the future.

La Casa Jazmín is recently renovated but there are still some pending tasks to complete. Volunteers will carry out some basic tasks like painting, throwing out extra materials and organising spaces.
Apart from the house renovation tasks, this project will have lots of different other tasks for the volunteers. We are collaborating with the local organisations in the towns around and they always need help from our volunteers. As we are organising the tasks according to the actual needs of the town, the work that you will do during the camp will vary but mainly will be about renovating, painting, organising spaces, decorating and doing environmental cleanings, trash pick up from the hiking paths or beaches etc.

There are 5 Caza Jazmin camps starting from the end of June to end of August and once one task is over, the volunteers will pass to the other one and we can not guarantee in which camp you will be doing what task as it will be depending on the previous group`s speed.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The volunteers will stay in a volunteer house, with three rooms with several bunkbeds and bathrooms. They will share rooms with four to six other volunteers. The house includes a nice kitchen in which the volunteers will cook for themselves in the guidance of the camp leaders.
You can either bring your own sheets or a sleeping bag. There are beds and pillows but no sheets or pillow covers.

Lage und Freizeit

Sanet is a small town in the southwest of Spain close to Dénia (communidad de Valencia). It lays in the beautiful countryside, surrounded by hills which are great for hiking - there are a lot of hiking trails to discover. There is a local swimming pool available and Dénia is only 5 minutes by cars.
The house is located right in the middle of town, so there are great opportunities to interact and socialize with the locals and to truly experience the Spanish countryside.
Furthermore, the volunteers can make excursions to Ondara and El Vergel, local towns close to Sanet. The surrounding villages like Benimelli and Ràfol d'Almunia can also be visited. There will also be day trips to the beach which is about 15 minutes by car from Sanet.

Arbeit

The aim of this workcamp is to create workshops for the local kids about agriculture and digital technologies that are used in the agricultural areas. The volunteers will be asked to investigate and create some workshops, games and activities about the topic in the local gardens and the youth center of the town. The volunteers have to have an interest in the topic and make some preparations before joining to the camp..

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The accommodation will be in a small rural apartment, some kilometres away from the village centre, with 2 different rooms with beds. No need to bring a mattress but bring lower sheets and a summer sleeping bag is necessary. The house is equipped with shower and WC and a tiny kitchen.

Lage und Freizeit

Volunteers will have 2 free days in the middle of the camp to discover the area and do any activities and entertainment they like. Optionally they can join the kids during these two days as well.

The province of Colunga lies on the Cantabrian Sea and is located in the north of Spain, which is considered as the green area of Spain (lots of rain, trees and plants).
Playa de la Griega is beautiful place and it is the nearest beach to the center town of the province, Colunga. This place is famous for one particular thing - here the footprints of dinosaurs were found. East of the beach on the cliffs is the famous and spectacular site of dinosaur footprints. The enormous size of these footprints, some of them reach 1.30 meters in diameter, allows it to be considered ones the largest footprints discovered so far. Village Lastres was listed as one of the most beautiful villages in whole Spain and definitely deserves a visit, actually you're going to live nearby. Going to the lighthouse (Faro de Lastres) will offer you some great coastal views.
