Brief description and main aims: The project aims to provide a temporary home to vulnerable children. The placement lasts until the children s reintegration with their biological or extended families. If this is not possible an alternative placement is identified. The main objective is to offer a temporary home to children who are to be reintegrated into their birth family or to be placed in a foster care family. Main Activities: The centre provides a temporary family type facility for 20 children, who are assessed and placed here from institutions. The youngest age group is 3-12 years. One group is designed for children with disabilities. The categories of children - beneficiaries of the SGH- are very different and depend on complexity of their problems. The SGH provides a family type environment where these children are helped to get ready for family life with either parents or foster cares. They are encouraged to participate in the day to day routine of the household, as well as in other activities. The Small Groups Home in Chisinau has been open since 1999 and represents the first alternative of this kind in the Republic of Moldova.

Project hosted by

REGAINING INDEPENDENCE IN AN ASSISTED LIVING ENVIRONMENT Our partner association was established through the initiative of a group of friends who decided to create places of shared living which allow the disabled individual to live with friends and family. These informal settings include meals prepared and shared together, social activities and celebrations (cultural, recreational and sporting...) In 2010, the first shared home was opened in Vanves, a town just outside Paris. After the success of the first shared home, groups of “companions” in association with our partner established homes in ten other cities in France. Our partner organisation helps to structure these projects, giving the groups technical and financial support in order to create their own shared homes. Our partner association shared Home is upheld as a societal project based on the “art of shared living” between both disabled and able-bodied individuals. It is a testimony to the idea that trust and community arise when people come together in a time of need.

After this pilot project, this project turns to focus more on the education especially highlighting the mental side of the children in the prostitution.
