Arbeit

Volunteers will do an unforgettable theatre-project, where they have the chance to be an other person on stage. The volunteers have the opportunity to evolve a little scene, etude or even a play. Theatre is always a very interesting exercise to get to know yourself better or even to discover yourself in another way.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The volunteers will stay in an accommodation of our partners. It's like a flat.
Food is included (also vegetarian / vegan), but meals have to be prepared by the volunteers.
WIFI and washing machine are available on site.

Lage und Freizeit

The Hanseatic city of Rostock was founded in the 13th century and is with over 200.000 residents the largest city in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Those location factors make up a great way of living in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the university with its 9 faculties and many study courses only adds to Rostock‘s amenity. Rostock is the place to be – and the volunteers will, among other things, encounter several buildings of historical and cultural value. Also, there are a lot of opportunities for free time activities: You can go swimming in the Baltic Sea, go canoeing, play various out- and indoor sports and spend a chill day in the shopping area of the Kröpeliner Straße – a long street that connects the city hall with one of the city gates that were built in the Middle Ages and remained until today.
Excursions (swimming, short trips) can be planned by the volunteers.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

This project is organized by NiG e.V., a german non-profit and non-government organization.

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

Will be sent to the volunteers together with the detailed travel information 4 weeks before the workcamp starts.

Weitere Infos

A few German language skills are beneficial, but not mandatory.

Arbeit

This work camp is for nature lovers, since the work will be mainly outdoors. There is a lot of work around the natural reserve “Upahl-Lenzen”. Since it’s not possible to use common agricultural techniques, volunteers have to do everything manually. More over every meadow around has to be cut and the grass have to be put aside. The aim of this project is to help to protect this unique reserve through your contribution. This project will be done in cooperation with the environmental agency of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

This camp is for nature lovers. The volunteers will stay in the building of a former kindergarten in a beautiful nature space. Expect a very basic accomodation. You will find one room for sleeping, one main room, kitchen and bathroom. Food (also vegetarian/vegan) is included, but meals have to be prepared by the volunteers. The group has to organize itself, so we are looking for responsible and independent volunteers. There is no washing machine and no wifi.

On the final weekend, there's an optional trip to Rostock, the nearby coastal city. The itinerary for this trip largely depends on the preferences of the camp leader, who will guide participants through the activities. Whether it's relaxing at the beach or exploring the city's nightlife, our accommodation in our office ensures everyone has a comfortable stay.

Lage und Freizeit

Lohmen is a village in the middle of the region "Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania". It is located within a few nature parks with many lakes and forests. It has about 850 inhabitants but also many possibilities for outdoor activities like hiking, doing excursions in the nature or doing campfire and barbeque. Lohmen has to offer many historical sites that educate about the local history. Even though the village Lohmen itself has been founded approximately in the 12th century, the area around Lohmen has been inhabited for at least 5000 years.

Excursions can be planned within the group, swimming, short trips to nearby towns.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

This project is organized by NiG e.V., a german non-profit and non-government organization. In this project we work together with the local agency for agriculture and environment.

Arbeit

Peenemünde is mainly known for its significant role in the times of the Nazi regime. Whereas Peenemünde first was only a place where the Nazis' army was positioned for developing different military tactics, it later became a labour camp in 1943. Prisoners had to help assemble the V-2 rockets and other military objects.

In this camp the volunteers will maintain the remains of the former labour camp “Karlshagen I”. Barracks, a bunker and two towers will be made visible for the public. This includes trimming the plants and keeping the wooden stakes that stabilize the construct in good shape.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The volunteers will stay in in multiple rooms at a youth hostel. There will be bikes provided to get to the working location and to travel around the island.
Food is included (also vegetarian). There will be someone cooking for the participants. Dinner will be warm; lunch and breakfast will be sandwiches.

Lage und Freizeit

The town Peenemünde is located in the northern part of the island Usedom which is located in the very north-eastern part of Germany. Usedom is the island with the most hours of sunshine in Germany and a popular travel destination. While Peenemünde was occupied by the German army during the time of the Nazi-Regime, the nature could grow and bloom freely and many salt and orchid meadows sprouted.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

This project is organized by NiG e.V., a german non-profit and non-government organization. In this project we work together with the historic technical museum of Peenemünde. The Peenemünde Historical Technical Museum is working on the history of the creation and use of weapons during World War II. The exhibitions documents who worked in Peenemünde, how people lived and why the enormously elaborate weapon projects were carried out. They give the camp a free guide throuh the musuem and explain the archiological part before and while working.

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

Will be sent to the volunteers with the travel information.

Anforderungen

Please bring a sleeping bag, a mattress pad, working clothes and motivation.

Arbeit

The participants will work on the area of an external camp of the former women´s concentration camp Ravensbrück. The women had to work there under very extreme conditions in an armament’s factory. First steps will be taken to build a memorial on the area where the former prisoners were accommodated. The volunteers are supposed to bring some ideas about the future of the memorial.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The volunteers will stay in a hostel. Full board is included (also vegetarian).

Lage und Freizeit

Malchow is a small city in the southern part of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. What once started as a village on the island of the Malchower lake, later became a town with about 6600 inhabitants and an important health resort between two great lakes and within the Malchower lake. But in between those times the town Malchow was mainly known for two things:
The first thing was a manufactory for ammuniation in Malchow that was a company established during the times of the regime of the Nazis. Half of the manufactory workers were forced labourers from abroad. The second thing was an external labour camp of the Ravensbrück concentration camp for women that was built in 1943. Hundreds of women, most of them Hungarian jews, had to work under inhumane conditions. A lot of them died.

Leisure time: Excursions (swimming, short trips) can be planned.
