*** VERSION EN FRANCAIS DISPONIBLE EN FIN DE DESCRIPTION *** *** French version at the end of the description *** Grenoble, capital of the French Alps, is a dynamic, ecological and solidarity-based city. Come and discover its treasures and get involved in solidarity actions in the heart of the Teisseire neighbourhood.
Supported by the city of Grenoble, citizen projects are regularly organised by inhabitants in order to create social, intergenerational and intercultural links. Those projects are an opportunity to make the city more attractive, to create activities for different audiences, to organise festive events... They all result from the dialogue with the inhabitants in response to their wishes and needs. In 2020, a first team of volunteers worked to create a mural in collaboration with a graphic artist, to build a picnic table with a decorative mosaic, to create and put up signs in a park and to draw games for children on the ground... Come and reinforce the group of involved citizens and take part in various projects of common interests that will allow you to discover the Grenoble solidarity network.
This workcamp does not require any specific skills. If you are sensitive to social action and you like to work as a team in a project with several partners, this workcamp is for you.
Logement et nourriture
You will be accommodated in flats which will be roughly furnished (2-3 people per room) for the occasion. Please remember to bring a sleeping bag. You will have access to the sanitary facilities and showers inside each flat as well as a common room. You will be able to use the kitchens for the preparation of meals. You will participate in their preparation, in turns, using products that will be bought nearby. We will favour local products and short tours. Tastings of local products might also be possible with local producers.
Grenoble is the largest Alpine city in France. It is also the third most populated commune in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (680,000 inhabitants in Grenoble and its agglomeration). It is surrounded by mountains very close to various massifs (Vercors, Chartreuse, Belledonne...) and benefits from the proximity of many other agglomerations (Lyon, Valence, Chambéry...). The town has many tourist attractions that you will enjoy visiting as well as a variety of cultural and leisure facilities. During the summer, the cultural programme presents the festivals "Cabaret Frappé" and "Un été Oh! Parc".
Just a few kilometres away from the town centre, you can easily reach natural areas by train or bus, which stands out from the urban constructions. There are many beautiful walks to choose from.
This project is part of the European Solidarity Corps. Concordia is coordinating a network of partners in Grenoble to plan different interventions throughout the project. You will have the opportunity to work with the services of the city of Grenoble, which will carry out the actions with the citizens. You will discover social housing thanks to the participation of Actis, which will provide accommodation and define the interventions on its housing park. This project is also supported by the Metropolis of Grenoble as part of the “10 districts on the move” project. Other structures - public or associative ones - will also be mobilised with us.
Point de rendez-vous
Grenoble SNCF Train Station (38)
Grenoble is a city that promotes soft mobility. The network of cycle paths is very well developed and its topography makes it easy to use bicycles for urban travels. Numerous cycle routes will be proposed for your daily journeys and excursions, so it is necessary to know how to cycle to participate in this project.
Please remember to bring gloves as well as clothes and shoes that are dirt-resistant. You should also take suitable clothing (fleece, mackintosh...) for your excursions in case of rain. We will supply air mattresses for the permanent accommodation: think about your sleeping bag and possibly an extra mat for your comfort. Don't forget sun protection (hat, glasses, cream...) and your swimming costume for swimming (swimming pools, water sports bases...). Friendly times will be planned with our campleaders and according to your wishes. If you would like to share a bit of your culture (recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects...), don't hesitate to bring a piece of your country or region in your backpack!
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country. *** RETROUVEZ NOS DESCRIPTIFS EN FRANCAIS ICI: *** *** French version here: *** https://www.concordia.fr/chantiers-internationaux-france-2021
