Travail

Please note this is a youth leadership role specifically if you're interested in learning about delivering Water sports activities. You will be delivering a variety of activities during your stay.

During your time with us, you will act as a host to our groups, leading activities and games, running evening entertainment, ensuring the smooth running of our dining room, singing at the campfire, welcoming families to events, being a pro at ‘doing the YMCA’ dance routine and generally making a huge difference to our community!

Behind the scenes you will ensure the smooth running of our large operation, from helping to look after our beautiful woodland and grassland areas, maintaining activities, putting up tents with our Estates team, helping out in the kitchen, making beds, and much, much more.

We want you if you…
Know how to have fun
Want to make friends from all over the world
Love being outside come rain or shine
Enjoy inspiring children and young people and have some experience of this
Want to help make a difference to our community
Want to learn new skills and improve the amazing ones you already have
Like the idea of no two days being the same
Love the idea of making every visit to Fairthorne special and one they will remember forever!

Logement et nourriture

Volunteers will be allocated a basic room, which may be shared with up to 4 other volunteers/instructors (separate for male/female). Bedding provided.

Three meals a day will be provided in the dining room and there are toilet and shower facilities, a washing machine & drying laundry

Please note, do not expect a 5* hotel! Fairthorne is more like a youth hostel with dormitory-style accommodation and basic facilities.

Situation, loisirs

Fairthorne Manor is located in a village called Curdridge which is near the city of Southampton on the South Coast of England. It is about 15 minutes’ walk from Fairthorne Manor into the village where there are shops and pubs. The nearest train station is Botley from where it is about half an hour’s journey into Southampton city centre.

Partenaire

Imagine a vast, natural, outdoor environment where memories are made to last a lifetime, adventures abound around every corner and you have the chance to deliver life-changing experiences – welcome to life at Fairthorne Manor!

Every year we welcome thousands of visitors to YMCA Fairthorne Manor’s 94-acre site on the south coast of England. Our site includes sweeping grounds, mature woodland, a lake, access to the River Hamble, and a range of exciting outdoor activities. Fairthorne is a place of firsts – from toddlers walking, kids splashing in the mud, being away from home, trying new activities, or a school trip to remember. Enabling young people to grow and thrive is only made possible with the help of top-notch volunteers from around the globe. Can you help add the sparkle to everything we do?

Volunteer with us to help support happy, healthy lives for all.

Remarques

You must be over 18 years of age at the time your programme starts due to our accommodation rules. You will be asked to attend an online interview with a panel from our centre before we can confirm your placement.

You must be able to fund your own travel to and from the UK within a week of the start and finish dates of the programme, and be able to get from your arrival airport to our local train station (Botley, Hampshire) from where we will pick you up.

You must apply for a tier 5 charity workers visa (approximately £244) for which we will provide you with a sponsorship certificate. Visa application decisions normally take 3-4 weeks, however, can take longer. We are a fully approved ‘A-rated’ sponsor, so you do not require a certain amount of savings 90 days before you apply.

You will need to provide us with two contacts for us to obtain a reference from and provide us with a certified translated local police check, or be willing to obtain a DBS check if living in the UK.
