Join V.GO’s Winter Camp 2026 in Thai Hai Village, Thai Nguyen, and become part of an international volunteer team supporting a five-day educational and cultural exchange programme for Vietnamese students in grades 8–12.
Set in a traditional Tay ethnic village, this camp explores the connection between cultural heritage, environmental responsibility, and sustainable tourism. Through hands-on activities, community exploration, Design Thinking workshops, teamwork challenges, and a Science Fair for local children, students will discover how small ideas can contribute to meaningful change.
As an international volunteer, you will work alongside local teachers, programme facilitators, and Vietnamese student leaders to create an engaging, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment. You will have opportunities to share your culture, exchange perspectives with Vietnamese young people, and encourage them to think creatively about the future of their communities.
This is more than a volunteering opportunity. It is a chance to learn from local traditions, build international friendships, and contribute to a shared vision of a more sustainable future.
Project Objectives
• Promote intercultural exchange: Connect international volunteers, Vietnamese students, and local residents through meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and cultural activities.
• Support experiential learning: Help students learn by doing, exploring, questioning, collaborating, and reflecting on real-life experiences.
• Encourage creative problem-solving: Support students in using Design Thinking to identify community needs and develop practical ideas related to culture, education, and the environment.
• Raise environmental awareness: Introduce sustainability concepts through village exploration, teamwork challenges, and discussions about responsible tourism and environmental protection.
• Celebrate local cultural heritage: Help students appreciate the traditions, knowledge, crafts, and everyday life of the Tay community in Thai Hai Village.
• Inspire young changemakers: Encourage students to turn their observations into personal projects connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Volunteer Tasks
International volunteers will work with the organising team to support educational activities, cultural exchange, and community engagement throughout the camp.
Your main responsibilities may include:
• Facilitating intercultural exchange: Share your culture, traditions, experiences, and perspectives with Vietnamese students. Encourage open-minded conversations and mutual understanding.
• Supporting workshops and team challenges: Assist facilitators during Design Thinking workshops, group games, problem-solving activities, and other interactive learning sessions.
• Exploring local culture: Participate in village visits and traditional activities, including basket weaving and stilt-house model building. Engage respectfully with local residents and help students learn from their experiences.
• Supporting the Science Fair: Work alongside Vietnamese student leaders and the organising team to prepare and deliver fun, interactive science activities for local children. Help create a welcoming and encouraging learning environment.
• Encouraging teamwork and reflection: Help students communicate their ideas, collaborate effectively, reflect on their discoveries, and identify community challenges they would like to address.
• Contributing to project development: Support students as they brainstorm solutions, develop simple prototypes, receive feedback, and outline their own follow-up projects.
• Joining cultural and bonding activities: Take part in group games, cultural performances, and the closing celebration, helping create a positive and memorable camp experience.
Volunteers are expected to be proactive, responsible, flexible, and willing to work as part of a multicultural team. Previous experience in teaching, youth work, science activities, environmental projects, or community development is an advantage, but a positive attitude and a genuine willingness to contribute are equally important.
