The Bukas Palad Cebu Garden Re-invigoration Project is GIED s effort in providing support to BPCFI as one of its Local Partner Institution (LPI) greatly affected by super typhoon Tino in November 2025. This initiative will focus on the restoration and revitalization of their community garden after it was devastated by the aftermath of the said typhoon. The garden serves as a peaceful and nurturing space of their community, through this workcamp, volunteers will come together in the spirit of bayanihan to clean debris, repair damaged areas, prepare the soil and make nursery for seedlings to be planted and revive the space. Beyond the physical restoration, the project symbolizes hope, resilience, and community solidarity. By lending our time and effort, we aim to rebuild the garden on a regular basis and continue to invite more volunteers to help restore a safe and welcoming environment for the beneficiaries and community of BPCFI. Project hosted by

Over the years, various government agencies have supported the development of coffee farming in Tuburan, culminating in its recognition as the coffee capital of Cebu. Presently, Tuburan Coffee sources beans from over 3,000 hectares of coffee small holdings spread across 29 barangays (villages), benefiting more than 2,000 local farmers from the town in the process. This initiative aimed to promote coffee farming as a more sustainable and lucrative livelihood for upland communities, offering an alternative to activities like charcoal production and firewood gathering, which have contributed significantly to deforestation. This development strategy of the Tuburan local government actively supports the synchronization and ecological balance of nature and human development.

It was developed to provide permanent and decent homes for poor families many of whom were once squatters, garbage scavengers, or living in dumpsite areas in Metro Cebu giving them a path out of extreme poverty and unsafe living conditions. It was initiated by missionaries and community development partners with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty for marginalized families. Habitat for Humanity sponsored many of the early houses. Management of the site was later taken over by JPIC-IDC (Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation i Integrated Development Center, Inc.), the social action arm of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) congregation. The JPIC-IDC Garden Re-invigoration Project is GIED s effort in providing support to JPIC as one of its Local Partner Institution (LPI) greatly affected by super typhoon Tino in November 2025. San Pio Village is a socialized housing community in Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines. This initiative will focus on the restoration and revitalization of their community garden after it was devastated by the aftermath of the said typhoon.
