Zovencedo is a small municipality of just over 800 inhabitants, where a close-knit community actively cares for its territory through local volunteer initiatives. The contribution of international volunteers will be highly valued, offering a meaningful opportunity for cultural exchange and intergenerational dialogue.
Volunteers will support the community by cleaning and maintaining the areas hosting municipal events, as well as assisting with event setup and dismantling. During the second week, they will focus on restoring public information boards and hiking trail signage, helping to improve accessibility and usability for both residents and visitors

Partenaire

The volunteer camp is organized by Il Castagno Rosso (non-profit organization) in collaboration with the Legambiente Vicenza local group. Since 2020, Il Castagno Rosso has been caring for approximately two hectares of meadows and woodland, gradually developing simple and functional facilities designed to host educational and recreational activities in nature for young people and families.
Over the years, the site has welcomed a forest kindergarten, a homeschooling project, several summer nature camps for children and teenagers, as well as music and theatre events open to the wider community.
Hosting participants in this international volunteer project represents an important opportunity for the association to strengthen cooperation with a broader network of local actors committed to environmental protection, while expanding the social and environmental impact of its activities within the territory

Remarques

Participation in the camp requires adaptability and a willingness to live in a simple, essential, and nature-oriented way. The setting is ideal for those who enjoy outdoor life, hiking, and embracing a slower, more minimalist lifestyle in close contact with the natural environment

Volunteers will take part in supporting the construction and setup of the festival area, one of the two main objectives of the Kalabria Eco project. Tasks will include site setup, kitchen and bar support, workshop and market areas, wellness area creation, parking and logistics management, infopoint, audio-visual technical support, and forest maintenance. Volunteers will be divided into groups on site, guided by activity leaders. Activities will take place in the morning and afternoon, with breaks agreed collectively.The second objective is the co-creation of a community. Each day, recreational activities such as games, sports, and nature walks will be organized. Volunteers will be encouraged to propose activities to the group, fostering shared participation and actively contributing to community life.

Logement et nourriture

Volunteers will live surrounded by nature, in the woods of the Parco Regionale delle Serre . The area includes a chalet with indoor and outdoor kitchen, an upstairs sleeping space and a bathroom with a shower, as well as a stone and wood house with shared facilities (3 bathrooms and 4 showers). Accommodation is mainly in tents, as this is a camping-based experience, while a few chalet beds are reserved for special needs. Grocery shopping will be provided by the host organisation and meals will be prepared together on a rotation basis (breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner) and will be mainly vegan. There are small local shops nearby for additional food or personal items, and group shopping trips can be organized. Drinking water is always available from natural springs. Our team will support you throughout the whole experience.What to bring (Survival Kit): reusable water bottle or cup, headlamp or torch, sleeping bag, a blanket or mat to relax in the woods, comfortable and lightweight shoes (we will walk a lot), and optionally a power bank.

Situation, loisirs

Polia is a small village in a strategic spot between Italy s east and west coasts. Its territory stretches from the sea to the mountains, offering stunning views of Lake Angitola, the Gulf of Sant Eufemia, and Stromboli volcano. The nearby Costa degli Dei features the beaches of Pizzo Calabro, famous for its delicious ice cream. Nature lovers can explore the woods and take excursions, including the Fiumara Milo, home to the world s largest concentration of Woodwardia radicans, a rare ancient fern.

Partenaire

Kalabria Eco is an association that started in 2021 with the multidisciplinary festival Kalabria Eco Fest. What was initially a single event has gradually grown into a wider initiative. Today, the association organizes a variety of activities, including Kalabria Eco Campo for children, as well as cultural events such as film screenings, concerts, and workshops throughout the summer. Kalabria Eco Fest was only the beginning: it has now become the celebration of a community that lives and collaborates for four months in a natural park, within the Parco Regionale delle Serre mountains in Polia.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

THIS CAMP IS DIRECTED TO PARTNERS PARTICIPANTING IN THE PROJECT VEILCORPS, ESC HPA.
Therefore we take volunteers from:
-Union Forum
-Solidarites et Jeunesses
-De Amicitia.

Volunteers will be involved in activities such as:
- maintenance of paths and forest firebreaks by mowing grass, clearing branches and levelling the ground;
- maintenance of drainage channels and rainwater management;
- renovation of dry stone walls and natural engineering to reinforce soil containment;
- maintaining grass cover to prevent erosion and runoff risks;
- experimenting with innovative and natural methods of soilless cultivation, aimed at reducing the consumption of fertile land and optimising water resources;
- monitoring meteorological, hydrological and agro-environmental conditions by positioning and programming sensors in the Leivi area.

Logement et nourriture

Volunteers will sleep at the Leivi sports centre, where camp beds will be set up in the changing rooms and there are bathrooms with showers. Adjacent to the sports field is an industrial kitchen where volunteers can organise their own meals.

Situation, loisirs

Leivi is in the beautiful region of Liguria, 30 minutes by bus to Chiavari, a city on the seaside. From there it is possible to take the train to visit other cities nearby.

Partenaire

A meeting between the VerdeRAM agricultural, educational and social enterprise in Leivi (GE) and the Municipality of Leivi in the province of Genoa (Liguria) has led to an international group volunteering proposal that is part of a broader European project by the European Solidarity Corps – High Priority Area entitled VEILCORPS – Volunteering experiences for inclusive learning: community relief, protection, sustainability.
The VEILCORPS project has two main objectives:
- to encourage and facilitate the involvement of young people in inclusive solidarity activities, particularly young people with fewer opportunities;
- to support concrete activities related to the prevention of fires, floods and landslides through maintenance activities in areas affected by natural disasters linked to climate change.

The Liguria region (Italy) is one of the areas most affected in recent years by heavy rainfall, causing major landslides in an area characterised by terraces that are now increasingly fragile due to neglect and, consequently, the lack of regular maintenance of dry stone walls.
VerdeRAM is an agricultural, horticultural and IT consulting company founded in 2016 with the aim of combining traditional agriculture with information technology to restore, innovate and improve the local agricultural area and, more broadly, the Ligurian region.
Together with the Municipality of Leivi, maintenance and monitoring work has been identified in order to prevent or at least mitigate the effects of heavy annual rainfall. Participants in this international group volunteering programme will be supported by local professionals in carrying out their daily activities.

Partenaire

The Emmaus Community of Villafranca is part of the global Emmaus Movement, which aims to combat poverty and social exclusion through the principles of work, sharing, and mutual aid. The Emmaus Community of Villafranca di Verona was founded in 1985, following a work camp organised in Villafranca in which young Italians and Europeans took part. Due to the success of the camp, the Municipality made available a former school. From the beginning, a group of friends was formed around the community, with whom Emmaus organised (and still organises) moments of deepening on the themes of solidarity, peace, non-violence... The role of this group of friends has been fundamental in the life of the Community and in making Emmaus known and appreciated in Villafranca. And if today so many people understand and support our community, it is thanks to the work and presence of these friends. The main objective of Emmaus is the reception of people in need, carrying out activities such as the collection, reuse and recycling of used materials with display at the Solidarity Flea Market. Zero Mileage Garden: organic vegetable growing. Care and maintenance of the community s green spaces. Spending the day (activities and free time) with the people hosted on the site.

Participants will live and work at Cascina Rapello, experiencing life on a rural social farm. Each day will include around 6 hours of work, while the remaining time will be dedicated to organized activities and workshops. Volunteers will engage in a variety of tasks, from cultivating vegetable gardens and fruit trees to restoring the ancient woods and building structures using materials found on site. They will also take care of the farm’s animals and facilities, and help prepare meals using fresh organic produce. Beyond the practical work, volunteers will take part in social and inclusive activities, welcoming local groups, including people with disabilities and youngsters from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Logement et nourriture

Cascina Rapello includes a 9 hectare terrain, 3 hectares of agricultural fields and 6 hectares of chestnut forest. The volunteers will sleep in tents of 4 people, divided by gender. The tents will be provided, but the volunteers will have to bring their camping mattress and sleeping bag. The camping site is also equipped with 2 compost toilets, made of wood and handmade showers with hot water with tendons for privacy.
Volunteers must carry their belongings in a backpack, as they will arrive at the farm on foot.
Electricity and hot water will be provided by photovoltaic and solar panels, therefore there won’t be internet connection and the use of electricity will be very few.
The food will be prepared by the volunteers, who will eat together in a big tent or open air. . Drinking water is provided normally. Participants can bring typical food of their countries to share but alcohol and drugs are not allowed in the camp.

Situation, loisirs

The workcamp is located in Aizurro, an hamlet of the municipality of Airuno in Lombardy with around 180 inhabitants. This area, located near the Lombard Prealps, is characterized by a rich natural landscape of forests, meadows, lakes, streams, and mountains, creating a continuous dialogue between rural and urban life, tradition and modernity. The closest place with facilities like small shops, train stations or other services is the town of Airuno (3 km away from Cascina Rapello).
Free time will be managed within the camp, including through supervised activities. Since this is a group experience for minors, for whom the cooperative will be responsible, it will not be possible to leave the area independently. During free time, excursions in the area, games, and activities will be offered.

Partenaire

Cooperativa Sociale Liberi Sogni, is a small no-profit organization that has organized, since 2006, social, cultural and environmental projects in the districts of Lecco, Bergamo and Monza e Brianza, in the region of Lombardy. Liberi Sogni always considered the intercultural topic very important. Many people that work in the Cooperative experimented directly with how important it is to promote solidarity and attention towards cultures, especially among young people. Since 2012 Liberi Sogni has hosted international summer camps with Lunaria, Youth Exchanges and EVS volunteers under Erasmus Plus Programme.
Cascina Rapello, the hosting place of the workcamp, is a welcoming and innovative center dedicated to reconnecting with the earth and rediscovering ancient knowledge and traditions, while also serving as a space for experimenting with new ideas, forms, and languages.In 2020, Liberi Sogni acquired the eighteenth-century Cascina, nestled among terraced fields and chestnut woods—a place long abandoned that we chose to regenerate as the new home for our activities. Today, it hosts a wide range of social, cultural, and environmental projects for children, youth, and adults.

Remarques

Volunteers will sleep in tents so they have to bring their camping mattress and sleeping bag. Participants must carry their belongings in a backpack, as they will arrive at the camp site on foot. It is important to bring proper equipment such as comfortable clothes and hiking shoes.
In addition to international volunteers, the camp will also welcome a group of ten local teenagers.
