During this workcamp, you will participate in the creation of a new reading space in the garden of the Ballancourt media library. The Ballancourt media library has a small piece of abandoned garden covered in brambles. During this project, you will transform this space into a new reading area intended for the village children. You will build wooden benches and tables, as well as decorative elements, so that residents and children can read in a pleasant, friendly, and ecological environment.

Situation, loisirs

La Ferté Alais is 50km south of Paris in the Essonne department.

Leisure: You can enjoy animations on the association's site, as well as discover the cultural and natural heritage of the Gatinais Park. You will participate in organizing activities with local youth. Leisure activities will be organized collectively according to the possibilities and the available budget.

Partenaire

VirVolt stands for International Volunteers Village. For two years, the association has been settled in the heart of nature, in the middle of a regional park. Welcoming young people from all over the world, getting to know each other and enriching ourselves through our differences; reflecting and acting together for environmental protection; having a positive impact on the places and the people living around the site or simply passing through... This is the project of this future village, which is built every year thanks to the young people who come to contribute, placing solidarity at the centre of their actions. Living in yurts, tipis, and caravans, with a permaculture garden, water-saving methods, waste reduction, and recycling— this little village that is destined to grow respects its natural surroundings and experiments with eco-responsible practices. Participating in this project means contributing to the evolution of a unique and original place; it means taking an active part in the construction of new solidarity-based spaces and ecological initiatives; it means engaging for the benefit of a society that is more respectful of humans and nature.

Travail

In an idyllic setting, with breathtaking views of the legendary Fort Boyard, this project invites you to participate in the restoration of an exceptional historical site: the Aiguille redoubt, recognised as the largest in France.
Much more than a heritage preservation project, this trip will be a powerful human experience, combining encounters, intercultural exchanges and a shared commitment to building peace alongside the local inhabitants.
At the mouth of the Charente, the Fouras peninsula boasts three ports and five beaches facing the Atlantic Ocean, offering a privileged natural environment where sea, nature and history come together in harmony.
The municipality of Fouras-les-Bains and the Maison des Bateleurs – Solidarités Jeunesses association are renewing their partnership to continue passionately working on the restoration of this remarkable monument, in a spirit of solidarity, discovery and collective action.

You will work for eight 6-hour mornings on the restoration of a new section of the interior of La Redoute. Your task will be to remove vegetation from the façade and cornices so that the joints can be removed and then repointed with lime mortar. Other traditional masonry work, such as repairing the stone cornices and stone cutting, is also planned. In addition, you will take part in workshops to raise awareness of interculturality and sustainable development.

Logement et nourriture

Shared accommodation in tents at the Fouras campsite (swimming pool, multi-sports area, Wi-Fi, snack bar, etc.).
Don't forget to bring a warm sleeping bag and a pillow.
Bicycles will be available for all your trips around town.
Food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A food budget has been set aside and will be managed by the activity leaders, who will keep you informed throughout the project. Meals, particularly lunch and dinner, will be prepared in turn by the participants. They must respect environmental values, local resources and the cultural diversity of the group. Travail

With its rich history, international volunteers have been welcomed at the castle since the 1980s to help maintain and promote it, and enliven local life during the summer. This year, 6 international workcamps are organized at the fortress over the summer. You will participate in the first session of the year.
Come and join the preservation and enhancement efforts of this exceptional heritage! Around the castle, you will carry out several restoration tasks. Guided by a technical supervisor, you will help maintain the masonry by learning traditional techniques: removing and re-pointing the walls, making lime and sand mortar, and handling the tools. You will also assist with maintaining the woodwork: safety barriers and building with pallets for relaxation areas. Finally, you will take part in maintining the fortress's environment: clearing brush, pruning shrubs, maintaining the vegetable garden, and renovating the dry toilet cabins. You will also be able to take part in hands-on and cultural activities aimed at enhancing and showcasing the fortress.

Accommodation is in tents, 10-15 minutes on foot from the fortress and 5 minutes on foot from the centre of the village. Everything is organised on-site with respect for the environment (waste sorting and composting) with the goal of promoting a more ecofriendly lifestyle.
Beyond working hours, volunteers come together to organise daily life on the camp. Often divided into teams, they plan menus, help with the shopping, prepare meals, and ensure the cleanliness of shared spaces. Fully involved in shaping your experience, you will also take part in decision-making regarding group activities and daily organisation!
In order to reduce the environmental impact of our projects, we prioritise vegetarian menus, which meet all the nutrional needs of participants.
There will be French volunteers on the workcamp. Some of them might not speak English. This can be an opportunity for everyone to develop new language skills and innovatove ways of communicating!
This year, another group of French and/or international volunteers may be hosted at the same time and take part in the work activities. Living spaces may therefore be shared, and attentive, considerate communication will be essential. This cohabitation will also be a great opportunity to multiply encounters and further strengthen the intercultural dimension of the project.

Inside a lovely little French village, the castle of Montaigu le Blin is an impressive medieval fortress, classified as Historical Monument. It is located on the top of a hill, overlooking the countryside. Since 2002, volunteers have been participating, every summer, to the restoration of the castle. These last years, the fortress has regained its beauty! Since the 80s, volunteers come every year to restore and protect the castle. These last couple of years, volunteers restored the castle walls using traditional masonry techniques and developped the medieval vegetable garden at the bottom of the Lord's tower. The project will take place at the permanent REV site, a former summer camp situated at an altitude of 1,200 meters. The building is situated at the foot of Mont Lozère in the heart of the Cévennes National Park. The REV association moved there in spring 2022 and wants to turn it into a place to welcome visitors, exchange ideas, and meet new people. To keep improving the garden started in 2025, you will build a wooden greenhouse dome, for year-round cultivation. This will contribute to transforming the site into a nourishing and supportive space where international volunteers, project volunteers, visitors, residents, etc. can meet.

You will be involved in constructing a wooden geodesic dome that will serve as a greenhouse for the community garden run by the association. This dome’s shape offers several advantages: it uses less material than a rectangular structure to cover the same area, it is wind-resistant (common at high altitudes), it captures light from all angles, and it prevents snow from accumulating on the roof (useful in winter). A technical supervisor will share their knowledge of wooden construction and guide you through building this structure during dedicated work sessions (25 hours/week).

Logement et nourriture

The workcamp is in a very remote area, where you will be accommodated in collective tents on the REV site (remember to bring a warm sleeping bag). You will have access to sanitary facilities close to the camp. Moreover, if weather conditions deteriorate too much for camping, a shelter a few meters away will be available. On the project, it is important to know that you will have two meat meals per week. Meals will be provided by the association and prepared by the participants, who will take it in turns to form cooking teams. Bring your best recipes!

Situation, loisirs

The workcamp will take place in the hamlet of Finiels, which belongs to the commune of Pont-de-Monvert, located on Mont-Lozère in the heart of the Cévennes. The nearest town is Mende with 16,000 inhabitants.

Leisure: Although far from France's metropolises, Lozère is a very dynamic region. The region's activities revolve around local festivities, concerts, and unspoilt natural areas (mountains, rivers, forests).

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

Please arrive on 10/06 between 4pm and 6pm. Génolhac train station (30450).

Would you like to take part in an experimental archaeology project and learn traditional building techniques? Then this project is for you!
The Mont-Dore town hall is participating in a European project aimed at promoting high mountain heritage and wants to build semi-underground pastoral huts, also known as “tra”, as they existed in Auvergne in the 13th century.

Accompanied by an architect, you will use natural materials (local wood, grass) and traditional techniques. You will build the frame, the semi-underground walls, and the roof made of rolls of grass unrolled over the structure.
In the heart of the Auvergne mountains, you will work in a breathtaking setting on the Capucin peak at an altitude of 1,400 meters. There is no Wi-Fi available on site, and access to the site is by minibus and then along a steep path.

Whether you are passionate about archaeology, curious about history, a seasoned or novice DIY enthusiast, or simply looking for new experiences, your energy and ideas will be welcome.

Logement et nourriture

Throughout your stay, you will be accompanied by two activity leaders and a technical leader on site.
You will be accommodated in individual tents and inflatable mattresses (provided by Concordia) at the Mont-Dore municipal campsite. Sanitary facilities and communal areas will be available at the campsite. A kitchen will be set up near the campsite.
You will share various communal tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the facilitators and you will help with the shopping, focusing on healthy and local products. WIFI is available at the campsite. Laundry can be done by hand or in the washing machine at the campsite (paid service).

The accommodation is located some distance from the work site. Travel will be by minibus or on foot.

Situation, loisirs

Nestled in the heart of the Sancy massif, Mont-Dore is a small mountain spa town in the Puy-de-Dôme department, located one hour from Clermont-Ferrand. Surrounded by volcanoes and wide open natural spaces, the landscapes are spectacular.
In your free time, you will have the opportunity to explore the many hiking trails and enjoy local outdoor activities in a preserved and rejuvenating setting. Activities involving the local residents will also be organized.

You can also enjoy the Horizons Arts-Nature en Sancy project, a huge artistic project combining walking and land art.

Partenaire

The project is being carried out in partnership with the Mont-Dore town hall and is part of a European project involving France, Portugal, and Spain. This project (Cultur-Monts) aims to highlight mountain “cultural landscapes.”
To continue giving the project an intercultural dimension, the Mont-Dore town hall wishes to call on an international work camp to build the pastoral huts.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point is at the MONT-DORE (63) SNCF train station in the late afternoon. The exact meeting time will be communicated at the latest with the itinerary one month before the start of the project.
It is a small station served by a few trains per day. Several routes with connections are available from Paris, Lyon, Volvic, and Clermont-Ferrand.

If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than airplane) for a sustainable international workcamp.

Train reservations can be made approximately 4 months before departure on the SNCF website, link below:

The Paillard Windmills are very happy to welcome you for their first international workcamp !
Shelly and James created the project “Moulins de Paillard” over a decade ago to host artistic performances and events.
For this project, you will be led by Boris Chouvellon, a contemporary visual artist, to create a temporary playground for children, using ecological materials.
You can also support the work in the garden with the team of Moulins de Paillard.
If you enjoy an artistic environment and are willing to create a place for kids to have fun, this project is for you !

The activity leaders will have a budget to cover these expenses, but you will be responsible for preparing the menus and doing your own shopping. A vegetarian diet using local and seasonal products will be preferred, while respecting the participants; dietary requirements and allowing you to discover local cuisine.

Situation, loisirs

The Moulins de Paillard is an arts center where contemporary dance, music, visual arts and ideas thrive in a setting of French architectural and natural heritage. On the banks of the Loir River, Paillard offers artists in residence, tourists and inhabitants a joyous blend of history and creation, conviviality and culture. During your stay, you will also enjoy the exhibition by Chris Marker, another visual artist working with video materials.

Partenaire

This is the first time we organize a project at Paillard, although Shelly and James are very much used to welcome groups of artists who stay for a couple of weeks to work on their artform. They are very eager to host their first workcamp, as they are very into intercultural learning and group projects.

Come and take part in the project to protect several natural sites in the Basque region! This project, created with nature specialists from the area and the “Conservatory of Natural Areas” (= Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels) will allow you to discover the flora and fauna of the region through a range of different tasks: cutting down and removing invasive exotic species on wet moorland, repairing and installing fences in the mountains.

You'll have the opportunity to work on different sites in the middle of nature!

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in individual tents on a camping site, with sanitary facilities, kitchen and communal living area in the small village of Urt. You will share various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders.
Together, you'll help organise community life (cleaning, activities, etc.) and take turns preparing meals, trying to use locally sourced and seasonal products. We encourage a vegetarian diet on our projects. No wifi & hand wash for clothes.

Situation, loisirs

The commune of Urt, located in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, lies in the heart of the Basque Country, about 15 km northeast of Bayonne, along the Adour River which flows through its territory, offering a rich and green natural setting. Between mountains and sheep and cow pastures, this work site, surrounded by nature, will be an opportunity to discover this village, its inhabitants, its gastronomic specialties, and the nearby hiking trails. The various work sites are in the middle of nature, and sometimes you have to walk a bit to reach them. This is therefore a work site that requires a certain level of physical fitness and a desire to spend time outdoors. The surrounding area also offers a wider range of activities, such as trips to the seaside in Bayonne or Biarritz, cultural visits and water sports on the Basque coast, all less than 30 minutes away. Outside of work hours, you can discover Basque heritage, its villages, its cultural and gastronomic traditions, and its magnificent landscapes between the ocean and the mountains!

Partenaire

The Basque mountains are characterised by the presence of small wetlands on the slopes, known as peat bogs, in the middle of pastures and moors. There are also other wetlands along the banks of the River Adour, known as “barthes”. These areas are subject to various pressures, including invasive species, pastoralism and tourism.

The various sites you will be working on, the Mondarrain and Sare peat bogs and the Mouguerre and Lahonce barthes, are protected natural areas managed by the Pyrénées Atlantiques department and the Conservatoire des espaces naturels. Many interventions are necessary throughout the year to preserve these fragile environments, so you'll be taking part in this work and supporting the teams on site. Numerous activities are led throughout the year with schools, youths and locals to raise awareness on the specific animal and plant species of the region. The workcamp will not only be an opportunity to help preserve these unique places, but also to discover all their secrets thanks to the many specialists who will be guiding you around the site.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point is at BIARRITZ SNCF station on 12/06 in the late afternoon.

The exact meeting time will be communicated with the route map, sent out no later than 4 weeks before the start of the project.

There are several direct trains from Paris Gare Montparnasse. The journey takes approximately 5 hours.

If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than airplane) for a sustainable international workcamp.

Train reservations can be made approximately 4 months before departure on the SNCF website, link below: https://www.sncf-connect.com/

Concordia provides you with a tent and a thin sleeping mat, be sure to bring an extra inflatable mattress if you have specific needs for comfort. For accommodation, remember to bring a warm sleeping bag and a towel. You should also bring a rucksack (in addition to your luggage), comfortable trainers and a pair of flip-flops. You'll also need to pack these essential accessories: a mobile phone charger, hiking poles (not compulsory, but recommended), a water bottle, a set of bandages and a headlamp or torch.

Social events will be organised together with your campleaders and according to your wishes. If you'd like to share a little piece of your culture (recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects, music, etc.), don't hesitate to take something with you !

Remarques

As some water sports may be planned for leisure time, it's better if you know how to swim!

Don't forget to bring work clothes and closed shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
In the mountains, despite the sunshine, the weather is surprising and can change rapidly.
For leisure activities, you'll need to pack clothes suited to the climate (warm fleece or jumper, shorts and hiking trousers, windbreaker, warm socks, etc.). For hiking, closed “high top” shoes are recommended. Don't forget sun protection (a hat or cap is essential, sunglasses with a high protection factor because of the intense reflection, sun cream with a high protection factor IP 30-50, etc.) and a swimming suit for swimming!

Come and discover Jurvielle, a small village in the Pyrenees mountains and its lovers’ path, that will delight volunteers looking for a green break!

The village of Jurvielle, the local NGO, and the Pyrenees National Park want to restore this path, which runs through the Luchon Valley. This 1.3 km-long path is currently accessible, but your mission will be to beautify it! From creating materials to raise public awareness about local flora and fauna, to building outdoor furniture (tables, wooden benches, etc.), re-marking the path, building a small wooden bridge, and creating a calade (a traditional stone path), you'll be doing many different tasks. All these tasks aim to improve access to this area and to highlight the work done to preserve and maintain this path. Guided by experienced leaders skilled in these various techniques, you'll be able to express yourself freely and let your imagination and creativity flow throughout the project. Rooted in the local culture of environmental preservation, this project will also allow you to learn about these issues in a concrete and in-depth way.

Logement et nourriture

In permanent accommodation with access to toilets and showers. You will be able to sleep in single-gender dormitories or gender-mixed dormitories, depending on your choice. Bring your own sleeping bag and your pillow.
You will have access to a kitchen and a common room located next to the dormitories. This common room normally belongs to the village hunting NGO, but they will not be using it when you are there. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. A budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the grocery shopping and in the preparation of meals, prioritising products from the market and local producers.

Situation, loisirs

Jurvielle (population of 23 inhabitants) is located in the Haute-Garonne department, in the heart of the Pyrenees. Located 15 minutes from Bagnères-de-Luchon and 45 minutes from the Spanish Pyrenees, this charming little Pyrenean village is quite secluded. Come and reconnect with nature in this small village nestled in the mountains. Numerous hiking trails are accessible on foot, and you can also discover the local flora and fauna thanks to the residents who possess extensive knowledge. This project will allow you to completely disconnect, with plenty of opportunities to relax in nature.

Partenaire

We are working with three different partners on this project. The Barousse Comminges Regional Natural Park is an organization dedicated to preserving and maintaining nature in the Pyrenees. The municipality of Jurvielle and the Friends of Jurvielle NGO are the local partners involved in this project. You will be supporting local residents in the restoration of their village. You will learn about the local flora and fauna through your close contact with the Regional Natural Park, and many issues related to the environment and its protection will be presented during this project.

Travail

Get involved to preserve the natural heritage of Luz Saint Sauveur, a small village in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains.
For over ten years, Luz Saint Sauveur has hosted international workcamps. This year, you will be working on a project to improve the town hall garden! All previous projects have focused on enhancing the village's landscape.
You will work alongside city staff to install a wooden gate in the center of the garden. Using recycled materials and learning various woodworking techniques, you will help beautify this space, which is regularly used for local events.

Logement et nourriture

You’ll be in permanent accommodation, with access to toilets and showers. You will be able to sleep in single-gender dormitories and/or in dormitories of your choice. Bring your own sleeping bag and your pillow!
The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. A budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the grocery shopping and in the preparation of meals, prioritising products from the market and local producers.

Situation, loisirs

Luz-Saint-Sauveur (900 residents) is located in the Hautes-Pyrenees department of the Occitanie region. Nestled in the Pyrenees mountains, the village offers stunning views of the Pyrenees. Numerous hiking trails are accessible nearby, including the Cirque de Gavarnie, the Cirque d'Estaube, and many mountain lakes. Tourist activities such as treetop adventure courses are also easily accessible.

Partenaire

Luz Saint Sauveur is a village nestled in the heart of the Pyrenees. For over ten years, Luz has been organizing international work camps in June to spruce up the village before the tourist season!
The village is fully committed to this project and is eager to involve the town hall’s technical staff in the work camp. Be prepared to interact with the local community, who look forward to spending plenty of time with you!

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point is at the LUZ SAINT SAUVEUR bus stop, Place 8 mai 1945 (65120), in the late afternoon. The exact meeting time will be provided with the itinerary, which will be sent no later than four weeks before the start of the project. Several buses (approximately one every 40 minutes) depart from Lourdes to Luz Saint Sauveur. The journey takes about one hour.
Bus schedules are available on this website:
https://www.lio-occitanie.fr/horaires-et-plans/ under the Hautes-Pyrénées - Bus 965 section. You can purchase tickets on board the bus.
Train reservations are possible approximately four months in advance on the SNCF website, link below:
https://www.sncf-connect.com/
Whenever possible, please prioritize low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than air travel) for a sustainable international project.

Commentaires additionnels

Please bring good shoes, working clothes and a swimsuit. As nights can be quite cold, remember also to bring warm clothes, a sleeping bag and a pillow. You can also bring traditional recipes from your home country/region, a musical instrument and games.

Remarques

This project is supported by the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) program for young people between 18 and 30. It is open to all volunteers that fit the ESC criteria.
The participation to ESC volunteering teams is subjected to several principles and conditions, presented on the ESC webpage: https://europa.eu/youth/solidarity/mission_en

  • volunteers do not have to pay any fee (neither sending, nor participation fee) to attend the project and will receive financial support for their travel, according to a maximum amount established depending on their travel distance and upon the presentation of original tickets;
  • volunteers need to enrol in the PASS, the ESC Portal; then Concordia France will organise their matching, on the online system, with the volunteering project;
  • volunteers will receive pocket money, calculated on the basis of 8€/day, once they arrive at the project in France;
  • volunteers will have to complete a participation report, submitted online through the portal.

Your tickets have to be uploaded on the CONFIRMATION FORM. Please fill the confirmation form when you receive the Infosheet. This is MANDATORY for all ESC participants. If you fail to provide your transport tickets on time, your participation may be cancelled. The tickets have to be shared a month before the project. In the case of last minute application, the delay will be of two days.

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country
