Do you love heritage and nature and want to make yourself useful ? Come and help restore the stone huts along the trails of Clermont-l'Herault!

The municipality wants to maintain its trails on the hill overlooking the town for the enjoyment of hikers. Discover the rich heritage of the municipality, such as the capitelles (dry stone huts). Your work will consist of enhancing the site by renovating these capitelles, carrying out small landscaping works, and installing engaging signage.

This work is essential for maintaining the trail while allowing visitors, walkers, and curious people to come and discover this rich heritage. An edifying experience that combines ancestral know-how, creativity, and intercultural encounters !

Would you like to take part in an experimental archaeology project and learn traditional building techniques? Then this project is for you!
The Mont-Dore town hall is participating in a European project aimed at promoting high mountain heritage and wants to build semi-underground pastoral huts, also known as “tra”, as they existed in Auvergne in the 13th century.

Accompanied by an architect, you will use natural materials (local wood, grass) and traditional techniques. You will build the frame, the semi-underground walls, and the roof made of rolls of grass unrolled over the structure.
In the heart of the Auvergne mountains, you will work in a breathtaking setting on the Capucin peak at an altitude of 1,400 meters. There is no Wi-Fi available on site, and access to the site is by minibus and then along a steep path.

Whether you are passionate about archaeology, curious about history, a seasoned or novice DIY enthusiast, or simply looking for new experiences, your energy and ideas will be welcome.

Logement et nourriture

Throughout your stay, you will be accompanied by two activity leaders and a technical leader on site.
You will be accommodated in individual tents and inflatable mattresses (provided by Concordia) at the Mont-Dore municipal campsite. Sanitary facilities and communal areas will be available at the campsite. A kitchen will be set up near the campsite.
You will share various communal tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the facilitators and you will help with the shopping, focusing on healthy and local products. WIFI is available at the campsite. Laundry can be done by hand or in the washing machine at the campsite (paid service).

The accommodation is located some distance from the work site. Travel will be by minibus or on foot.

Situation, loisirs

Nestled in the heart of the Sancy massif, Mont-Dore is a small mountain spa town in the Puy-de-Dôme department, located one hour from Clermont-Ferrand. Surrounded by volcanoes and wide open natural spaces, the landscapes are spectacular.
In your free time, you will have the opportunity to explore the many hiking trails and enjoy local outdoor activities in a preserved and rejuvenating setting. Activities involving the local residents will also be organized.

You can also enjoy the Horizons Arts-Nature en Sancy project, a huge artistic project combining walking and land art.

Partenaire

The project is being carried out in partnership with the Mont-Dore town hall and is part of a European project involving France, Portugal, and Spain. This project (Cultur-Monts) aims to highlight mountain “cultural landscapes.”
To continue giving the project an intercultural dimension, the Mont-Dore town hall wishes to call on an international work camp to build the pastoral huts.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point is at the MONT-DORE (63) SNCF train station in the late afternoon. The exact meeting time will be communicated at the latest with the itinerary one month before the start of the project.
It is a small station served by a few trains per day. Several routes with connections are available from Paris, Lyon, Volvic, and Clermont-Ferrand.

If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than airplane) for a sustainable international workcamp.

Train reservations can be made approximately 4 months before departure on the SNCF website, link below:

For this project, you will be led by Boris Chouvellon, a contemporary visual artist, to create a temporary playground for children, using ecological materials.
You can also support the work in the garden with the team of Moulins de Paillard.
If you enjoy an artistic environment and are willing to create a place for kids to have fun, this project is for you !

The activity leaders will have a budget to cover these expenses, but you will be responsible for preparing the menus and doing your own shopping. A vegetarian diet using local and seasonal products will be preferred, while respecting the participants; dietary requirements and allowing you to discover local cuisine.

Situation, loisirs

The Moulins de Paillard is an arts center where contemporary dance, music, visual arts and ideas thrive in a setting of French architectural and natural heritage. During your stay, you will also enjoy the exhibition by Chris Marker, another visual artist working with video materials.

Partenaire

This is the first time we organize a project at Paillard, although Shelly and James are very much used to welcome groups of artists who stay for a couple of weeks to work on their artform. They are very eager to host their first workcamp, as they are very into intercultural learning and group projects.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The exact meeting time will be communicated with the infosheet, which we will send maximum 4 weeks before the beginning of the workcamp.

Come and take part in the project to protect several natural sites in the Basque region! This project, created with nature specialists from the area and the “Conservatory of Natural Areas” (= Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels) will allow you to discover the flora and fauna of the region through a range of different tasks: cutting down and removing invasive exotic species on wet moorland, repairing and installing fences in the mountains.

You'll have the opportunity to work on different sites in the middle of nature!

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in individual tents on a camping site, with sanitary facilities, kitchen and communal living area in the small village of Urt. You will share various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders.
Together, you'll help organise community life (cleaning, activities, etc.) and take turns preparing meals, trying to use locally sourced and seasonal products. We encourage a vegetarian diet on our projects. No wifi & hand wash for clothes.

Situation, loisirs

The commune of Urt, located in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, lies in the heart of the Basque Country, about 15 km northeast of Bayonne, along the Adour River which flows through its territory, offering a rich and green natural setting. Between mountains and sheep and cow pastures, this work site, surrounded by nature, will be an opportunity to discover this village, its inhabitants, its gastronomic specialties, and the nearby hiking trails. The various work sites are in the middle of nature, and sometimes you have to walk a bit to reach them. This is therefore a work site that requires a certain level of physical fitness and a desire to spend time outdoors. The surrounding area also offers a wider range of activities, such as trips to the seaside in Bayonne or Biarritz, cultural visits and water sports on the Basque coast, all less than 30 minutes away. Outside of work hours, you can discover Basque heritage, its villages, its cultural and gastronomic traditions, and its magnificent landscapes between the ocean and the mountains!

Partenaire

The Basque mountains are characterised by the presence of small wetlands on the slopes, known as peat bogs, in the middle of pastures and moors. There are also other wetlands along the banks of the River Adour, known as “barthes”. These areas are subject to various pressures, including invasive species, pastoralism and tourism.

The various sites you will be working on, the Mondarrain and Sare peat bogs and the Mouguerre and Lahonce barthes, are protected natural areas managed by the Pyrénées Atlantiques department and the Conservatoire des espaces naturels. Many interventions are necessary throughout the year to preserve these fragile environments, so you'll be taking part in this work and supporting the teams on site. Numerous activities are led throughout the year with schools, youths and locals to raise awareness on the specific animal and plant species of the region. The workcamp will not only be an opportunity to help preserve these unique places, but also to discover all their secrets thanks to the many specialists who will be guiding you around the site.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

The meeting point is at BIARRITZ SNCF station on 12/06 in the late afternoon.

Commentaires additionnels

Concordia provides you with a tent and a thin sleeping mat, be sure to bring an extra inflatable mattress if you have specific needs for comfort. For accommodation, remember to bring a warm sleeping bag and a towel. You should also bring a rucksack (in addition to your luggage), comfortable trainers and a pair of flip-flops. You'll also need to pack these essential accessories: a mobile phone charger, hiking poles (not compulsory, but recommended), a water bottle, a set of bandages and a headlamp or torch.

Social events will be organised together with your campleaders and according to your wishes. If you'd like to share a little piece of your culture (recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects, music, etc.), don't hesitate to take something with you !

Remarques

As some water sports may be planned for leisure time, it's better if you know how to swim!

Don't forget to bring work clothes and closed shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
In the mountains, despite the sunshine, the weather is surprising and can change rapidly.
For leisure activities, you'll need to pack clothes suited to the climate (warm fleece or jumper, shorts and hiking trousers, windbreaker, warm socks, etc.). For hiking, closed “high top” shoes are recommended. Don't forget sun protection (a hat or cap is essential, sunglasses with a high protection factor because of the intense reflection, sun cream with a high protection factor IP 30-50, etc.) and a swimming suit for swimming!

Come and discover Jurvielle, a small village in the Pyrenees mountains and its lovers’ path, that will delight volunteers looking for a green break!

The village of Jurvielle, the local NGO, and the Pyrenees National Park want to restore this path, which runs through the Luchon Valley. This 1.3 km-long path is currently accessible, but your mission will be to beautify it! From creating materials to raise public awareness about local flora and fauna, to building outdoor furniture (tables, wooden benches, etc.), re-marking the path, building a small wooden bridge, and creating a calade (a traditional stone path), you'll be doing many different tasks. All these tasks aim to improve access to this area and to highlight the work done to preserve and maintain this path. Guided by experienced leaders skilled in these various techniques, you'll be able to express yourself freely and let your imagination and creativity flow throughout the project. Rooted in the local culture of environmental preservation, this project will also allow you to learn about these issues in a concrete and in-depth way.

Logement et nourriture

In permanent accommodation with access to toilets and showers. You will be able to sleep in single-gender dormitories or gender-mixed dormitories, depending on your choice. Bring your own sleeping bag and your pillow.
You will have access to a kitchen and a common room located next to the dormitories. This common room normally belongs to the village hunting NGO, but they will not be using it when you are there. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. A budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the grocery shopping and in the preparation of meals, prioritising products from the market and local producers.

Situation, loisirs

Jurvielle (population of 23 inhabitants) is located in the Haute-Garonne department, in the heart of the Pyrenees. Located 15 minutes from Bagnères-de-Luchon and 45 minutes from the Spanish Pyrenees, this charming little Pyrenean village is quite secluded. Come and reconnect with nature in this small village nestled in the mountains. Numerous hiking trails are accessible on foot, and you can also discover the local flora and fauna thanks to the residents who possess extensive knowledge. This project will allow you to completely disconnect, with plenty of opportunities to relax in nature.

Partenaire

We are working with three different partners on this project. The Barousse Comminges Regional Natural Park is an organization dedicated to preserving and maintaining nature in the Pyrenees. The municipality of Jurvielle and the Friends of Jurvielle NGO are the local partners involved in this project. You will be supporting local residents in the restoration of their village. You will learn about the local flora and fauna through your close contact with the Regional Natural Park, and many issues related to the environment and its protection will be presented during this project.

Looking for a human adventure in the heart of the Alps? Join a committed project in Valloire, one of the most beautiful places in Savoie! In collaboration with Concordia and the municipality of Valloire, engage in a project that combines solidarity, environmental commitment, and enhancement of local heritage.
Your mission ? Contribute to improving the living environment by building steps on a hiking trail. Supervised by professionals, you will discover environmentally friendly development techniques and work with materials adapted to the site's specific conditions.
No specific skills are required—just motivation and a willingness to contribute to a meaningful and impactful project! Ready to take on the challenge ?

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in individual tents at a campsite in Valloire, with access to restrooms and showers within the establishment. The municipality will provide a section of the community hall, located less than 200 meters from the campsite. We will set up a kitchen and a communal living area there for group activities and as a shelter in case of bad weather.
Participants will take turns organizing communal life (cleaning, activities, etc.) and preparing meals using locally sourced products whenever possible. We will promote a primarily vegetarian diet with local and seasonal products, respecting all dietary needs and introducing participants to regional gastronomy.
Nights can be cold in the mountains, so bring a warm sleeping bag (comfort temperature around 5-10°C) and, if needed, a sleeping mat for extra comfort. Free Wi-Fi is available in certain areas of the resort and at the campsite. The campsite also has a washing machine. The cost of cleaning your laundry will be at your own expense.

Situation, loisirs

Located in the Savoie department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Valloire consists of 17 hamlets in the heart of the Maurienne massif, near the Italian border. The main village sits at an altitude of 1,400 meters, making it an ideal setting for mountain lovers.
For hiking enthusiasts, numerous marked trails await, including the one leading to Lac des Cerces, offering breathtaking views. Nearby, several recreational lakes with swimming areas will help you cool off during hot summer days.
History buffs can explore emblematic sites such as the Fort du Telegraphe, an unusual military structure, or the Baroque-style Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Church, listed as a historical monument.
On the culinary side, don’t miss tasting locally produced Savoyard cheeses, a true gateway to the region’s flavors. The resort also offers a variety of sports and cultural facilities, including a swimming pool, a cinema, a media library, and local shops, ensuring a comfortable and enriching stay.
As part of your stay, a farm visit may be organized to discuss local food production and discover regional agricultural practices. These activities will be planned by the workcamp leaders and the project partner, based on group preferences.

Partenaire

Nestled in the heart of the Alps, Valloire is a lively resort that changes with the seasons. Throughout the year, it welcomes visitors eager to enjoy its stunning landscapes and rich Savoyard culture.
Beyond the physical work, you will engage in discussions about a crucial topic: what is the future of a mountain resort in the face of climate challenges? Valloire is considering its future development, and along with Concordia, you will participate in conversations about ecological transition and the evolution of mountain tourism.
To complement the work camp, activities and discussions will be organized to help you better understand the region’s specificities, history, and future challenges. Between hikes, meetings with local stakeholders, and social moments, your stay will be filled with discoveries and enriching exchanges.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

Participants should plan to arrive in central Valloire in the late afternoon, between 5 PM and 6 PM. A more precise schedule will be provided based on summer timetables. Valloire is accessible by a regular shuttle service from Saint-Michel-Valloire train station, located 17 km away. It is recommended to book the shuttle in advance. Trains to Saint-Michel-Valloire are available from major cities such as Lyon Part-Dieu, Chambery-Challes Les Eaux, and Modane.
For those traveling by car, Valloire is one of the rare mountain resorts with two access routes in summer: via the Col du Télégraphe (Maurienne Valley) and the Col du Galibier (Briançonnais).
If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than airplane) for a sustainable international workcamp.
Train reservations can be made approximately four months in advance through the SNCF website: https://www.sncf-connect.com.

Commentaires additionnels

For the work sessions, make sure to bring sturdy, protective clothing that can withstand dirt and wear. Mountain weather can be unpredictable, with sudden changes despite the sunshine, so it is essential to pack appropriate clothing, including a warm fleece or sweater, hiking shorts and pants, a windbreaker, a down jacket, and warm socks. Sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots are mandatory for safety. Sun protection is also crucial due to the intense glare at high altitudes—bring a hat or cap, sunglasses with high UV protection, and sunscreen with SPF 30-50.

For your accommodation, a warm sleeping bag (comfort temperature between 5-10°C) is necessary, along with a pillowcase that you can stuff with clothes to create a pillow. A small backpack, in addition to your main luggage, will be useful for daily activities, and don’t forget comfortable sneakers and a pair of flip-flops for relaxing moments. Other essential items include a phone charger, a water bottle, a basic first-aid kit, and a headlamp or flashlight. Hiking poles are not required but can be helpful.

If you would like to share a piece of your culture—such as traditional recipes, stories, music, or small souvenirs—feel free to bring something special from your home country or region. A small Bluetooth speaker can also be useful for group activities and cultural exchanges.

Remarques

Please fill the Parental Agreement and the Medical Fact Sheet as soon as possible (at least 3 weeks before the beginning of the workcamp).

The vaccines proofs (a note from the doctor or a copy of the vaccines) is MANDATORY, see list in the Medical Fact Sheet. Unvaccinated volunteers will not be accepted.

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
