Participation in the sustainability transformation work of the historic Koroinen farm, increasing self-sufficient production, securing biodiversity, participating in the creation of a community event.Tasks: Field work to establish the Koroinen community field, seedling cultivation, invasive species control, meadow management activities, organizing tasks for the Koroinen Spring Days weekend festival.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

Accommodation inside the main house, mattresses provided, please bring your own bed linen or sleeping bag with you. In the farm nature it is also possible to camp in the yard with your own tent, if you wish. Meals will be cooked together.

Lage und Freizeit

Turku is a beautiful old seaside city which used to be the capital of Finland before Helsinki. It is located 150 km from Helsinki and is also easily accessible by ferry from Sweden. In case you are flying, there is also a small airport in Turku, but it might be easier to fly to Helsinki and then take a train or bus to Turku.Koroinen historical farm is a nature location, on the beautiful river side valley of Aura-river. The farm is located less than 2 km of the city center. Walking and bicycle trails to the city center and upstream theriverside pass through the farm. Koroinen farm is permaculture center and a transition movement actor with 25 years long history of sustainable development work. On the farm can be found community gardening, plotgardening, crafts workshops, biodiversity art park, sauna, swimming in the river, rowing boat, bicycles and lots of community members.

The old Koroinen farm on the banks of the Aura River is maintained by the Koroinen Association of Living Culture promotes the well-being of both the environment and people, community spirit, craftsmanship, sustainable use of natural materials, and ecological farming and lifestyle.We organize cultural events open to the public, volunteer work, and offer a variety of courses. .This camp is a part of the project European Youth in Action: policymakers for climate justice, supported by the CERV programme, improving competences in concrete actions for climate justice. The horizontal theme of this camp is biodiversity.

The volunteers need travel insurance for the duration of their stay. The EYA project is primarily targeted to European volunteers but open for all. Green travelling is encouraged. Arbeit

The volunteers will participate in a community project where they will be riding an electronic coffee bike, providing people free of charge refreshments and a place to chat and connect. During the project a children s summer camp takes place, and the volunteers play games and do crafts with the participating children. They will get to be part of the camp, play football and other games, and spend time outside.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The volunteers will sleep in double rooms in Leinikki on air mattresses. The accommodation also has a common area with sofas as well as toilets and showers. There is a large kitchen area where the volunteers can prepare food.

Lage und Freizeit

Simonkyla is close to Tikkurila in Vantaa, adjacent to Helsinki, renowned for its cultural attractions and recreational facilities. Nature is nearby: a forest with gym equipment is right around the corner and there is a national park with a lake for swimming, and kayaking. Volunteers can borrow bicycles for the duration of the camp in order to explore the area.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Vantaan Jarjestorinki is an organization that supports and connects associations in Vantaa. It serves as a network for local groups and works to improve the conditions for associations by organizing networking meetings, training sessions, and offering free meeting spaces at the Leinikki Civic Activity Center in Simonkyla. They also organize free weekly community events, ranging from a crafts club, community cafe, Men s group, Senior cafe, children s afternoon club, and similar activities to people living in the area.

Helsinki - Vantaa airport is very near to the camp location. Helsinki can be also reached by ferry.

Arbeit

The volunteers will act as assistant sport instructors in the English speaking children camp, where the kids can try a variety of sports. The volunteers will be working with a group of children who speak English as their mother tongue or want to learn English. Their tasks involve guiding the children in the camp area, helping with meals and transitions. The volunteers make sure that the children move safely in the area, stick to the schedule and act according to the rules. The volunteers will also assist the cooking team to prepare breakfast for the children and distribute food. Working clothes will be provided by the camp host.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

During the camp the volunteers will sleep in tents in the camp area. The participants need to bring their own sleeping bags. Meals will be provided by the local host.

Lage und Freizeit

Pitkajarvi is a lake close to the town of Kokemaki about 200 km north-west from Helsinki. Kokemaki is a beautiful small town with a long history. Pitkajarvi is a popular spot for recreational activities. There are two national parks nearby and other interesting sights that the volunteers can visit during their free time.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

Pitkis-Sport is the largest children s sport camp in Finland, with hundreds of participants and a large number of national volunteers. This year the theme of the camp will be nature. The kids will be able to try over 40 different sports activities during the camp. The program includes e.g. rugby, American football, lacrosse, taekwondo, Sport Chanbara and Highland Games. The ages of the children participating in the camp will be mainly between 7 and 15 years old.

Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Helsinki can also be reached by ferry. Kokemaki can be reached from Helsinki by train or bus in 3-4 hours.

Arbeit

During the first week of the camp the volunteers will do gardening work and prepare for the Open Gardens -event. During the second week the participants will renovate and paint old barn doors. The volunteers will get to know the sustainable way of living of the host organisation and enjoy the cultural and other actiivities.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The accommodation will be organized in rooms of 2-4 people. There will be a shared sauna, shower and toilets. The volunteers will cook their meals in small teams with ingredients provided by the host, also some from the own garden of Tipula.

Lage und Freizeit

Tipula is a small village, surrounded by forests and farm land. The nearest cities are Laitila, Rauma and Turku. The west coast of Finland is the oldest part of the country. There are many historical towns for the volunteers to visit, as well as beautiful nature to explore. There is a public beach nearby and beautiful nature for hiking and walking.

The Cultural Organisation of Tipula pursues to provide the residences for artists from various fields and develop the activity based on the needs of the creative work. They also organize concerts, camps and events in Tipula and further productions of publications and exhibitions. The organization upkeeps an old garden of self-grown and near-by produced food, surrounded by forests, old farmland and wheatfields. Their goal is to reach out to create international bonds, to enhance ecological values and sustainable, environmentally friendly way of life. This camp is a part of the project European Youth in Action: policymakers for climate justice, supported by the CERV programme, improving competences in concrete actions for climate justice. The horizontal theme of this camp is sustainability, greenwashing and circular economy. The volunteers do not need to have any previous knowledge of the topic, but are welcome to join workshops.

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

The closest airports are Helsinki-Vantaa and Turku. Laitila is 3,5h from Helsinki and 1h from Turku by bus. You can also arrive in Helsinki or Turku by ferry.

The volunteers need travel insurance for the duration of their stay. The camp is not suitable for volunteers with allergy to animals as there are cats and dogs in the camp area. The EYA project is primarily targeted to European volunteers. Volunteers traveling by land (bus or train) for most of their journey will be eligible for a travel grant up to 100euro.

Volunteers will be involved in two main activities: assisting with the festival s organization and participating in the production of the feature film Pigtown. Tasks include event setup, assisting with screenings and logistics, as well as working on the film set as production assistants, extras, or helping with props and set decoration. This unique opportunity provides hands-on experience in both cultural event management and independent film production.

Arbeit

The volunteers will have tasks that help increase biodiversity in the areas surrounding Lastu and other sites nearby. This will be achieved by building living fences, building pens and shelters for sheep, and creating works of art from living materials. The volunteers will also be creating moss graffiti and seed bombs. They will help the host with sustainable renovation of buildings and also try out textile repair and patching by sewing durable bags. The volunteers can delve into traditional skills such as carpet weaving and spinning in workshops during a local children s event called Vasikkasavut.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The accommodation is organized indoors as communal living in a summer house or classrooms with access to bathrooms. If you want, you can also sleep in a tent. The volunteers have access to the kitchen and they will cook meals together.

Lage und Freizeit

Lapinlahti is a small municipality with around 9000 inhabitants located in an area called Northern Savonia. The area has lots of beautiful nature, and is famous for having lots of forest and lakes. During the free time, it is possible to go swimming in the lake, visit art museums, flea markets, shops, a parkour park, outdoor gym, and discover different nature attractions and hiking trails nearby.

Architecture and environmental culture school Lastu is an art and construction activity center in Lapinlahti. It was founded in 1993 and is maintained by an association. Their mission is to support and develop architectural and environmental cultural education and promote the appreciation, understanding and nurturing of old and newer built cultural heritage. Their aim is to help people to create a relationship with nature and offer tools to nurture and care for the environment.This camp is a part of the project European Youth in Action: policymakers for climate justice, supported by the CERV programme, improving competences in concrete actions for climate justice. The horizontal theme of this camp is biodiversity.

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Lapinlahti is located close to the city of Kuopio, around five hours from Helsinki. There is a direct train connection from Helsinki to Lapinlahti. Helsinki can also be reached by ferry.

Arbeit

During the camp the volunteers will assist in renovating a building which will become a rehabilitation center for youngsters and young adults with different challenges. The rehab centre Kukukuu will open in the autumn and there is still work to be done in the building and yard to make it ready for the new residents. The volunteers should be ready to get their hands dirty as they will be painting the bedrooms, planting a nice garden, and working in the yard and the greenhouse. The volunteers will also be able to practise their skills in upcycling by fixing and decorating textiles such as recycled T-shirts.

The volunteers will cook the meals together with the hosts. The accommodation is in shared rooms for two people.

Lage und Freizeit

Camp and 769;s location is Kuru, 55 kilometres from the nearest big city, Tampere. Kuru is a pretty traditional small village of 3000 habitants but in summertime habitants triple because of the summer residents move to their cottages. Kuru has beautiful nature with lakes and forests. There are hiking trails nearby as well as a national park Seitseminen. The volunteers will have a chance to visit the historical sights in Tampere.

The camp host is an association Opastyopaja working in the social work field. They are going to open a rehabilitation centre Kukukuu in the Autumn. The volunteers will assist in building a festival called DinosauRock in Mikkeli. During the festival there will be various tasks such as keeping the area tidy, but also free time to enjoy the interesting festival program. After the festival there will also be work dismantling the festival.

The volunteers will stay in shared accommodation or in cabins in the area of Visulahti, a camping resort in Mikkeli. Volunteers will prepare some meals together in small teams, some meals will be provided.

Lage und Freizeit

The festival and the camp are held in Mikkeli, Finland, next to the largest lake in Finland, Saimaa. The camping resort Visulahti is mostly a summer destination for families that also has an aquatic park. There will be a possibility to go swimming and discover the local nature.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

This camp is organized together with a cultural association Mukula which has organised cultural festivals with international volunteers for about 20 years, these camps have been really successful. This year the festival will take place in a new exciting location with popular artists.
