Travail

Join the Black Cat Crew! Take part in a dry-stone walling project at Chateau du Bosc, the childhood home of the famous painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. This iconic Belle Epoque artist, renowned for his posters of the Chat Noir cabaret, grew up here. Now it’s your turn to leave your mark on this historic place !

Alongside other motivated young volunteers, you’ll learn how to rebuild dry-stone walls lining a hiking trail. Guided by professionals, you’ll discover an ancestral craft and help preserve this local heritage. Beyond the worksite, get ready for an unforgettable adventure! You'll dive into the castle’s unique historical and artistic vibe - making new friends, exploring the area, and enjoying the great outdoors in the heart of Aveyron.

Ready to join the Black Cat Crew? We’re waiting for you !

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in an individual tent, with access to toilets, shower and kitchen. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the grocery shopping and in the preparation of mostly vegetarian meals, prioritizing products from the market and local producers.

Please bring your sleeping bag and mat. You will wash your clothes and other items manually. Wi-Fi is available throughout the castle.

Situation, loisirs

The castle is located in Camjac, a commune in the Aveyron department, in the Occitanie region. Nestled in the heart of the Segala, 40 kilometers north of Albi, the area features rolling landscapes of meadows, forests, and rivers. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the surroundings and enjoy various leisure activities: hiking on picturesque trails, swimming in the river, discovering charming villages, and tasting local specialties. The castle itself is a must-see tourist site, attracting many visitors eager to delve into the history of Toulouse-Lautrec.

Partenaire

This project is organized in collaboration with the Toulouse-Lautrec Institute of Bosc, an association dedicated to preserving and promoting the château. Committed to safeguarding this historic site, the institute works to share its history and highlight its cultural heritage. Thanks to its efforts, Château du Bosc remains a vibrant place, welcoming visitors, events, and initiatives like this workcamp, offering a fresh perspective on its legacy.

Itinéraire vers le point de rendez-vous

Commentaires additionnels

Bring working clothes, gloves, and closed shoes. Bring a warm sleeping bag, as nights might be cold due to the altitude. To enjoy the mountains, bring your trekking shoes. For the brave ones who want to take a dip in the river, bring your swimming suit. Sunscreen is also recommended! Feel free to bring activities from home such as photos, games, musical instruments, etc.

Remarques

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
