Work

Practising English with the young participants through daily activities, games and crafts, assisting in the day-to-day running of the camp, helping the leader in day-to-day activities such as landscaping, beach cleaning, etc. These camps are connected to “Let’s Speak English” camps where there will be teenage participants.

Accomodation and food

Accommodation will be in a tent. Participants must bring their own tents, sleeping bags and mats. Male and female participants will stay in separated tents. 3 meals in a day will be prepared by host NGO volunteers and served with the help of participants but general cleaning work is at the participants responsibility.

Location and leisure

The camping area (Sekader Seferihisar Engelliler Alternatif Su Sporları Derneği) is located in the Seferihisar-Doğanbey region of Izmir, Turkey's 3rd biggest city, and is a seaside facility used for orthopedically disabled people to access the sea. The camp site includes a kitchen, shared showers, toilets and an office and is suitable for outdoor activities. Internet connection will be provided on a limited basis at certain times of the day. Boat trip will be organised during the camp on free day but all expenses related to the trip belong to the participant.

SEKADER is a local NGO aiming to socialise disabled people of the area through water sports. They hired a camping site where they teach swimming, canoeing and diving to disabled people. To raise a fund to cover the costs of the camping site they also run a camp to practice English. Good English speakers are invited to spend 8 days with a group of international teenager participants who wish to
improve their English.

Directions to meeting point

The camp leaders will be waiting for you at İzmir Airport to take the 1st group until 17:00 and the 2nd group until 20:00 to the campsite. Detailed information will be given in the infosheet. Transfer will be provided free of charge by public transport.

Requirements

Please don’t forget to bring your tents, sleeping bag and mattress. Volunteers with some experience on teaching, outdoor or table games, music, drama, sport will be preferred. A motivation letter should be sent along with the application form. Applicants will be interviewed via Zoom / Skype / WhatsApp before confirmation.

Work

The main work in the camp will be harvesting lavender. On some days during the camp, a trip to the Fisheries Directorate will be organized and information about crayfish will be provided and volunteer activities will be held for those who want to support the work. Additionally, volunteers will provide organizational support in the Triathlon event that coincides with the camp dates.

Accomodation and food

Accommodation will be in the dormitory on the historical island located in Lake Eğirdir. Volunteers will stay in rooms for 4 people. Each room has a shower and toilet. 3 meals will be provided.

Location and leisure

Isparta is located in southwestern Türkiye and is located in the Göller Yöresi (Lake District) in the north of the Mediterranean Region. Eğirdir is a district 34 km away from Isparta and on the shores of Lake Eğirdir. Cultural activities and trips are possible in spare time.

Work

The aim is to paint school walls, classrooms and floor lines for playgrounds.

Accomodation and food

Accommodation will be provided in apartment located in the same garden as the school. Male and female volunteers will stay in separate apartments. Meals will be cooked by volunteers in the kitchen in the school building.

Location and leisure

The camp will take place at Hüseyin Vehbi Fettahoğlu Schools in Çaykara district of Trabzon. Volunteers can go to Uzungöl, a highly touristic natural beauty on their off days.

Work

To accompany children with special needs in workshops, to keep observation reports, to be responsible for cleaning and organisation in the workshop and garden, in the whole camp area, to support all the work that needs to be done in the camp area such as gardening, horse care, kitchen work. Volunteers provide support for a maximum of 6 hours in different jobs between 09:15 and 18:00. After 18:00, volunteers are free to make their own plans. Mondays are free days. 6 days a week work will be done.

Accomodation and food

Accommodation will be in dormitories and tents. Its forbidden to stay in out of camp site. 3 meals will be provided at the campsite. It is strictly forbidden to consume alcohol in the camping area and to come to the camping area drunk.

Location and leisure

The camp will take place at the Little Prince Academy Göreme. Every Monday is a free day, volunteers can make their own programs (such as a trip to Cappadocia). Expenses on the day of the trip belong to the volunteer.

Work

You will share the responsibilities of the leading team to take care a group of kids from the beginning till the end of the camp including the trips outside of the camp as well as all kind of activities during the camp. Please note that you will be dealing with the kids through the given & intensive program all day long. You will spend most of your time with the kids in the camp area with a limited private life. Thus, contact with the locals is very limited; however, you will have contact with the working people in the campsite. Volunteers may have fun together only after the kids go to the bed and the team cover the late, daily staff meeting in the camp. Teamwork is very essential for this camp. Thus, any volunteer who disagrees with the camp rules and team spirit are asked to leave. Smoking & drinking alcohol is not allowed during the camp at the campsite in front of the kids.

Accommodation will be in youth house, in rooms with 2-3 beds, toilet and shower. 3 meals will be provided. Volunteers will eat with the children groups they are responsible for. Wi-fi is limited.

Yenisakran is a provincial town in the city of Izmir by the Aegean Sea, in west of Türkiye. Work camp site is safe and secure. Leaving the camp site is not allowed due to unexpected emergency cases.

“Childhood Dreams” is a special project of GHD, designed for disadvantaged children groups aged 10- 14. This camp is sponsored by external funds as well as the funds raised by GHD. All accommodation and food expenses of the disadvantaged children are covered by funds.

Requirements

We are looking for communicative, talkative, active, children friendly volunteers who are at least 20 years old with some abilities on teaching basic English, any sports like basketball, volleyball, swimming, football, table tennis, etc., chess, arts & crafts, music, dance, drama, in & outdoor group games. Ability of swimming is essential and teaching swimming is preferable. Applicants will be interviewed by the camp managers via Zoom / Skype / WhatsApp before being confirmed.

As one of GHD’s program, “East-West Camp” is organizing one week project consisting informal and non-formal education for socially and economically disadvantaged youth to empower them. We try to give the equal opportunities to low income youth to participate for learning by doing. In 2023 we gave the priority to the youth from the earthquake area. In 2024 we will welcome again the young people from the cities which were effected by the earthquake and our main target group.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old with experience of the above-mentioned activities or group leading. Non formal education experience is preferred. Work

The aim of the camp is the afforestation of a mountainous region. Within the scope of this work, it is planned to uproot the dried saplings in the areas designated for afforestation and transport the saplings to the areas for planting new ones.

Accomodation and food

Volunteers will stay in a flats located in Zara. 3 meals a day are provided by local people.

Location and leisure

Sivas is the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey and is one of the oldest and most important conservation areas of the region. The distance between Sivas and Zara district is 64 km. The camp will be held in Zara, but participants can plan to visit Sivas on their free days. The costs of the activities planned outside Zara belong to the volunteers.

Project hosted by

Yeşil Zara Gönüllüleri Derneği is consists of people who came together to plant tree the Sivas/Zara region. They also meet for activities such as feeding stray animals during the winter months and performing choir practices for special days.
