Work

For 8 mornings of 6 hours each, you will be working on the restoration of a new part of the north facade of the redoubt, facing the Atlantic Ocean. Your job will be to remove the vegetation from the facade and the coping, before removing the pointing and repointing with lime mortar. Other traditional masonry work is planned, such as repairing the stone coping and stone cutting. You will also be taking part in workshops to raise awareness of interculturality and sustainable development.

Accomodation and food

Group accommodation in tents at the Fouras *** campsite (swimming pool, multi-sports area, WIFI, snack bar...). You must bring your own warm duvet and pillow. Bicycles are available for use around town. Food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner (you will have a food budget that the leaders will manage and communicate with you throughout the workcamp). Meals will be prepared in turn by you, especially for lunch and dinner, while respecting environmental values and local resources, as well as everyone's culture (hot and cold dishes as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes will be prepared).

Location and leisure

Fouras-les-Bains (17450), 20 km from La Rochelle

Leisure activities: You can enjoy a wide range of water-based activities, such as fishing and sailing with the local clubs. The beach, seaside bike rides, beach volleyball and other surprises are all there for you to discover. You can also visit museums and towns such as La Rochelle and Rochefort. The highlights of your stay will be getting to know the locals, who will be eagerly awaiting your arrival, especially at the table for an international meal.

Project hosted by

In an idyllic setting overlooking Fort Boyard, the workcamp will involve restoring the redoubt as well as intercultural sharing between locals and volunteers in peacebuilding. Located at the mouth of the Charente, the Fouras peninsula is home to 3 harbours and 5 beaches on the Atlantic coast. The municipality of Fouras-les-Bains and the Maison des Bateleurs - Solidarités Jeunesses association have decided to renew their partnership in order to continue the restoration work on the Aiguille redoubt (fortress), said to be the largest in France.

Directions to meeting point

We will meet you at Camping « Le Cadoret » in Fouras at 3pm. From Bordeaux airport, you will have to take a shuttle to Bordeaux Saint-Jean train station and then a train to Rochefort train station. There, you will take the bus (line J) to Cadoret stop which is close to the camping.

Work

This year, we'll be continuing work on the stonework in the old sheepfold, so that in a few years' time it can be used as a cooking area, a tool shed, etc. You’ll also be working on the enhancement of the site and the old hamlet of la Péguière. All with the help of masons who will be on hand to pass on their skills! Mind you, it's a real workout for the arms and legs! The work involves 30 hours a week.

Accomodation and food

You will be accommodated in individual tents on the Faï farm site. Dry toilets, a kitchen and showers will be available. A barnum will be set up and will be your common space under cover. There is no Wi-Fi, but you will meet people from all over the world! This center is a 30 minutes’ walk from the Abbey.
You will cook by turn, so that we can taste several specialties! Here, we are careful about what we eat and aim to reduce our impact on the planet. We try to eat a maximum of local products and we eat meat twice a week.
The daily life is organized together: organization of the menus (vegetarian, vegan and other specific diets possible), shopping, activities, etc. Bring a mattress, a good sleeping bag (the nights can be cold) and a pillow. To be adapted to your needs.

Location and leisure

The Abbey of Clausonne, 5km from the village of Le Saix (05400), is 15km away from the Veynes.

Leisure activities: Evenings and weekends are free for activities that you choose to organise together. You will be in an exceptional setting to discover the pleasures of mountain hiking, its rivers, its lakes, the farmers and producers markets, the festive nights organized in surrounding villages. In group, you will decide activities and discovery outings that you wish to set up. The reception center usually organizes one musical evening per week with homemade wood-fired pizzas. Once or twice a week, we organise with our vehicles some racing trips!

Project hosted by

Take part in the valorisation of a historic site at the heart of idyllic mountain landscapes! Join us and come discover l’Abbaye de Clausonne and its natural environment at 1140 meters of altitude!
It is in the 12th century that the Abbaye took shape. After multiple periods of deconstruction and reconstruction over the centuries, it became in the 20th an agricultural building, which was abandoned in the 1950s. It is in 1994 that the Abbaye of Clausonne association was created to conserve the vestiges of this exceptional architecture on an exceptional site. Since then, the association has wanted to make this place a ground of discovery, learning and knowledge.

Directions to meeting point

You will get to Veynes Dévoluy train station via Valence TGV, Valence ville, Grenoble, Marseille Saint-Charles train stations. Let’s meet at the Veynes Dévoluy train station between between 4 and 6 p.m. Precise meeting times will be given on the route map (plan to arrive late afternoon, early evening).

Work

From Luz-Saint-Sauveur, the Pyrenees Mountains are all yours. All the best hiking sites, peaks and highlands are easily accessible. Here, you will find the freedom to breathe freely, move, broaden your horizons and enjoy!

Luz-Saint-Sauveur was a thermal hub for the noble and wealthy throughout the 1800s : the medicinal bathing sites attracted emperors, artists, intellectuals and more. Amongst the historical figures that often visited Luz was the French emperor Napoleon III (grandson of Napoleon Bonaparte) who had fallen in love with the town and surrounding mountains, he encouraged the development of the village throughout the 1860s. Today Luz probably has the best-conserved heritage from that era in France and elsewhere.

The great writer Victor Hugo described Luz as a “charming old town… beautifully situated in a deep triangular valley… When the miquelets (Catalan militia men) and Spanish smugglers arrived from Aragon … they saw a great light… They named this town light, or Luz.”

Your job will consist of the requalification of an old amphitheater nearby the post office. You will learn the art of masonry and revegetation techniques, to enhance the space and make it accessible for everyone. Throughout your whole stay, you will be accompanied by camp leaders, one being a technical facilitator who will teach you and help you master the techniques of traditional masonry.

Accomodation and food

You will be accommodated in an individual tent, with access to toilets, shower and kitchen. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the grocery shopping and in the preparation of meals, prioritizing products from the market and local producers.
Please bring your sleeping bag and mat. You will wash your clothes and other items manually. Wifi is not available, French volunteers can share their internet connections via a hotspot.

Location and leisure

Luz Saint Sauveur is in the Hautes-Pyrenees County, south-west of France near the pilgrimage city of Lourdes. It is close to the most beautiful natural sites of the Pyrenees Mountains: Midi Peak, Gavarnie Valley, Bridge of Spain, Neouvielle Natural Park, Pyrenees National Park (with many highland lakes).
The beauty and diversity of this county presents a great historical, architectural and environmental interest.

Project hosted by

The municipality has been developing a large project to restore its local heritage, especially through international workcamps. For over 6 years the volunteers of Concordia and from the whole world have been renovating old streets, washhouses, fountains, and hiking trails.

Directions to meeting point

The meeting point is set at the LUZ-SAINT-SAUVEUR - tourist office bus station, on the 7th of June at 6 PM.
Once you reach LOURDES train station (direct trains from PARIS, TOULOUSE, and BORDEAUX), take the bus n°965 to LUZ-SAINT-SAUVEUR (about 30 minutes). From PARIS, you can reach LOURDES from the Montparnasse train station.
LUZ-SAINT-SAUVEUR is also accessible by the night train for those who would like to try it!
The trains are open to booking about 4 months before the departure dates, accessible on the following website:
https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/
If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel.
If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than airplane) for a sustainable international workcamp.

Additional comments

Bring working clothes, gloves, and closed shoes. Bring a warm sleeping bag, as nights might be cold due to the altitude and we may also sleep in the mountains if we organizing outings. To enjoy the mountains, bring your trekking shoes. For the brave ones who want to take a dip in the river, bring your swimming suit. A sunscreen is also recommended for the ones with sensitive skins. Feel free to bring activities from home such as photos, games, musical instruments, etc.
Foreigners from the European Union must bring their personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and all participants must bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise during the program, volunteers will need to cover all costs; they will be reimbursed upon their return to their home country.

The last day (28/06) is dedicated to the departure, which is usually set in the morning.

Work

In the heart of the “Pays du Haras”, in the department of Orne, come and discover the Bourg-Saint-Leonard, a 12th-century castle, classified as a Historic Monument in 1942.
On the domain, you can find the castle, an orangery, stables, caretaker's lodgings, a garden and orchard, a park and a 400-hectare forest. The Chinese boudoir and library were restored over several months.
The commune of Gouffern en Auge has embarked on a vast project to restore the various parts of the estate over several years. This project is being monitored and coordinated by architects of historical monuments. You will continue the restoration of the wall, staking the mortar and repointing with a lime mortar (a masonry technique used with old buildings). You will be accompanied by skilled guides throughout the project to help you learn these techniques step by step!

Accomodation and food

You will be staying close to the Château du Bourg Saint Léonard. This means you can easily walk to the site each day. The accommodation will be in individual tents (bring your own sleeping bag and warm duvet). The kitchen and living area, as well as showers and toilets, will be close to the camp. You'll be able to enjoy the view of the castle as you go about your daily life. Volunteers will be able to share their internet connection (no WIFI), and laundry will be done by hand.
You'll share collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders, and you'll help with shopping and meal preparation, giving priority to healthy, local produce, and exchanging recipes if you wish.

Location and leisure

Gouffern en Auge is a new commune, created by a merger of 14 communes. It is located in the department of Orne in the Normandy region.
This work camp is an opportunity to take full advantage of the exceptional and prestigious setting of the castle and to immerse oneself in Norman culture: culinary specialities, hiking, discover the local heritage, visits of the castle of Chambois (the commune where you will be accommodated) and the national stud farm (Haras National du Pin 5 km away), activities and entertainment with the local inhabitants.

The council wishes to revitalise the commune by hosting a volunteer work camp, to set up an international and intercultural project for the inhabitants, and to promote the local heritage.
The castle of Bourg-Saint-Leonard is open to visitors during the summer.
In an English-style park surrounded by a 400-hectare forest, the castle, with its orangery and stables, is a showcase of 18th-century furniture. The Chinese boudoir and the library have been restored over several months and are open to the public.

Directions to meeting point

The meeting point is scheduled at Argentan Train Station at the end of the afternoon of the first day. On the last day (02/07), the departure time is usually set in the morning.

From Paris, you can take the train from Gare Montparnasse, regular departures are scheduled throughout the day. The journey takes about 2 hours.
If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel.
The exact meeting time will be given with the infosheet which will be sent at least 4 weeks before the start of the workcamp.
If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than aeroplane) for a sustainable international workcamp.
For more information about trains: https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/

Additional comments

Please bring gardening gloves, good shoes for working and working clothes. As the nights can be quite cold, remember also to bring warm clothes. Don’t forget to bring a camping mat, a sleeping bag for cold weather (comfort temperature 5 degrees): nights can be really cold in Normandy.
Don’t hesitate to bring traditional things from your country/region, photos, games, music instruments, etc.

You'll be helping to enhance our heritage by maintaining and cleaning up the riverbeds and rebuilding small dry-stone walls. You'll build a special bond with the local people who live along these waterways, and you'll also be at the heart of a festive energy by helping to set up one of the village's flagship events, "Le feu de la Saint-Jean" (St John's bonfire).

You'll stay in tents on our summer camp with its lovely panoramic views. Access to dry toilets and showers on site. Individual tents or tents for two will be provided, as well as sleeping mats. Remember to bring your sleeping bag and a pillow. You will prepare the menus and meals together, taking into account the season, everyone's needs and the pleasure of sharing together.

Location and leisure

Village of Cause de Clérans.

Leisure activities: During your stay, you will have the opportunity to participate in local festivities and cultural events, to discover the region and to organise your programme of activities with the other volunteers and the leaders.

Project hosted by

The historical particularity of the town of Cause de Clérans comes from its two market towns, "Cause" and "Clérans", which have been united for a very long time. One had a defensive function with its castle and the other a religious function with its church.
Our international workcamp is waiting for you to perpetuate this age-old link. Together with the locals, we'll be helping to maintain and promote the local heritage, both in terms of the environment and the village's essential festivities.
The spirit of cooperation and conviviality are characteristics that define the way of life around here. Join us and enjoy the good life at Cause de Clérans.

Work

As part of this project, you'll be helping to build a "self-care" area to complement the facilities already on site. Mainly, you'll be building dry toilets, washbasins, and mirrors for your beauty moments! You'll also develop your DIY spirit by making 99% eco-friendly household products. A great opportunity to try out alternative methods for reducing environmental impact and encouraging more responsible consumption habits.
To make the site more welcoming and, above all, to protect certain areas from the summer heat, you'll start creating a shaded area in the garden. You'll also have the chance to get to grips with the garden, its vegetables and herbs, and put your green thumb to good use.
Finally, weather permitting, you'll get to grips with low-tech toolmaking, and start making wooden games - the big project that will keep our youngsters busy in July. What better way to stimulate your creativity?
There's never a dull moment here! So come and spend two unforgettable weeks and bring Citrus to life with your creations.

Accomodation and food

You'll be accommodated in 8- to 12-person, single-sex collective tents with floors and beds. Amenities include dry toilets and solar-powered showers. A pedal-powered washing machine is available for laundry. There is no wifi connection.
You will take part in the upkeep of the premises and in the preparation of meals, accompanied by an educational supervisor in the kitchen. Choices will be made collectively to ensure a balanced diet based on your tastes and local seasonal produce.

Near the village of Laguépie (82250), 100 km northeast of Toulouse, between Albi and Villefranche-de-Rouergue.

Leisure activities: In the heart of Laguépie (82250)he Aveyron gorges, you'll be able to take advantage of all the possibilities offered by the Tarn-et-Garonne region: swimming in the Viaur river, accessible on foot, visits to medieval villages, kayaking, visits to Albi cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site. With the support of the animation team, you'll also organize activities and take part in meetings with the local population: international meals, intercultural games, film screenings, traditional festivals, etc.

Project hosted by

Join the Citrus association's major project and help renovate the Laguépie international welcome center. For over ten years, international volunteers have been building, renovating, imagining, and giving shape to a large-scale project.
On the heights of the village of Laguépie, Citrus is a place of sharing and encounters, where young people from all over the world come to contribute to the renovation and fitting-out of the international welcome center. Since 2012, the association's buildings have been in the former hamlet of La Mayounelle: offices, a communal living space and an activity room, all surrounded by fields, a green theater and a vegetable garden. Accompanied by experienced leaders, you'll live at the heart of the association and share daily life with the Citrus team and other volunteers on site.

Work

The Vercors Regional Nature Park stretches across a vast mid-mountain massif between Isère and Drôme. Come and discover it, and the village of Autrans-Méaudre en Vercors. Its landscapes will take you on a journey. The project will involve restoring a shelter known as "La Bergerie", located on the edge of a footpath and a mountain bike trail. The exact history of this site deserves to be known, as it would appear that in the past this vast area was grazed by sheep. Meadows replaced the present-day forest and there was indeed a sheepfold here, but we're investigating with local residents to find out more.Your job will be to clear the undergrowth around the shelter and consolidate it by working on the masonry. No previous knowledge is necessary. A good dose of motivation and the desire to work as part of a team will enable you to complete this project.

Accomodation and food

You will be accommodated in a chalet equipped with beds: remember to bring sleeping bags. The site is a 20-minute drive from the accommodation. You will then have to walk for 10 minutes on an accessible path, but with some gradients. The group will be supervised at all times by a team in charge of group life and technical aspects, in liaison with our local partners, in particular the eco-guards from the PNR Vercors. Together, you will help to organise group life (housework, activities, etc.) and take turns preparing meals using locally sourced produce. We will use local produce and short distribution channels as much as possible, and will ensure that all participants' diets are respected.

Location and leisure

Autrans-Méaudre en Vercors is a destination renowned for the quality of its environment, the extraordinary wealth of its flora and fauna and the wide range of activities on offer. It is located in the Vercors Regional Nature Park, 15 km from Villard-de-Lans (the main town in the North Vercors Massif) and around 40 km from Grenoble. One of the main activities for enjoying the beauty of the landscape is hiking. A Park eco-guard will be on hand to guide you during your free time. Depending on the programme agreed with the entertainment team, you can take advantage of the nearby swimming pool and outdoor activities such as mountain biking, caving, zip-lining, orienteering, beach volleyball, etc.

Project hosted by

The PNR Vercors has been a partner of Concordia for many years. Each year, this long-standing relationship enables Concordia to introduce the volunteers who join us to a part of the Vercors, a natural territory offering a variety of landscapes marked by history and rich in cultural identity. For the Regional Nature Park, the workcamps are a fantastic opportunity to involve volunteers in its work to preserve natural areas in collaboration with the local communities. In 2024, he will be working with the village of Autrans-Méaudre en Vercors, which is very interested in proposing an intercultural and intergenerational project: young people from the village will come and help on the site for one or two days. In 2025, the elders of the local association Cabane 44 will be in charge of building the roof of the shelter after the volunteer workcamp. They will also visit the site to meet you and create links. The park's main missions are to preserve and enhance the natural environment, and to support the sustainable development of its territory in the fields of agriculture, tourism, culture, energy, mobility, town planning, etc.

Directions to meeting point

Meet at the Meaudre Place bus station in the late afternoon. The bus station is accessible by bus from Grenoble SNCF station. A suggested itinerary will be presented in a detailed info sheet. Train reservations can be made approximately 4 months before departure on the SNCF website, link below:
https://www.sncf-connect.com/

Additional comments

Remember to take closed clothes and shoes for the work, which are resistant to dirt. You'll be sleeping in individual beds: remember to take a sleeping bag as well as a fitted sheet and pillowcase. You should also bring waterproof clothing for your walks. Nights can be chilly at altitude, so pack some warm clothes. Don't forget sun protection (hats, glasses, cream, etc.), a water bottle and your swimming costume for swimming (pools, water sports centres, etc.). If you'd like to share a little of your culture (recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects, etc.), don't hesitate to pack a little piece of your country or region in your backpack and a small Bluetooth speaker to share your favourite playlist!

On the last day (12/07), the departure time is usually set in the morning.

Requirements

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them personally, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

Vir'Volt stands for InteRnational VolunTeer Village (in French). For 3 years, the organisation has been based in the heart of nature, in the middle of a regional park. By welcoming young people from all over the world each year, the future village is being built around a number of different objectives: getting to know each other and learning from our differences, reflecting and acting together to protect the environment, but also having a positive impact on the surrounding area and people by putting solidarity at the heart of each of our actions. Vir'Volt also aims to become fully eco friendly and sustainable which is reflected in our campsite ; yurts and teepees as rooms, permaculture farming and gardening, water saving projects, reducing and reusing waste. This small village will become great without sacrificing or damaging the surrounding environment whilst always searching better and more eco friendly ways of living.

Many connections exist and several TGV links to LILLE (35min) or PARIS (2h00) are proposed.

Project hosted by

After more than a decade of successful workcamps with our association, from 2006 to 2022, both for the participants and for the commune, the latter wishes to welcome for the 17th time an international volunteer workcamp to participate in the restoration of the Fort des Dunes , a military fort built in the 19th century. The objective of the commune was both to enhance the value of this site so that it could be visited and used for cultural purposes by associations and music groups and to bring an intercultural dynamic by creating links between the inhabitants, visitors and volunteers. Over the years, important improvements have been made to open this site, which is full of history, to the public. Outside, with a secure tour route (interpretation of the site with the help of an audioguide), and inside, where rooms have been restored and opened to visitors, including a room dedicated to the history of the fort (interactive presentation, animated model of Operation Dynamo).

Work

This year, Concordia is teaming up with France Bénévolat and l'Arche de la Nature to create an international work camp in Le Mans.
Located ten minutes from the town centre of Le Mans, the Arche de la Nature estate offers to visitors a vast natural area showcasing the main landscapes of the Sarthe region.
Along the paths, visitors can admire the river, the forest and the grove, and can visit the “Maison de l'Eau”, the “Maison de la Forêt” and the “Maison de la Prairie”. Sports fields and children's playgrounds will satisfy young and old alike. In all, 500 hectares of nature are permanently open to the public, including La Mare aux Poissons Rouges.
La Mare aux Poissons Rouges is an artificial pond that hosted a religious procession from the early 20th century until the Second World War.
The procession group came from the church in Yvré-l'Évêque and passed through the Château de l'Arche estate.
Today, the pond has been cleaned up and is the home to a number of protected amphibians, including the marbled newt.
The aim of this project is to protect the pond by building a dry-stone wall.
You'll be accompanied by a team of expert guides throughout the project to help you learn these techniques step by step!

Accomodation and food

You'll be staying at the Yvré Leveques municipal campsite, just a few kilometres from the site and Le Mans, in individual tents (bring your own sleeping bag or warm duvet, and a mat or mattress). The kitchen and living area, as well as showers and toilets, will be close by. You'll be able to take advantage of the campsite's various facilities, including the swimming pool (remember to bring your bathing suit!). Travel between the living area and the work site will be by bike (distance of around 5 kilometres, between 15 and 20 minutes), so you'll need to know how to ride a bike.
Volunteers can share their internet connection (no WIFI) and laundry will be done by hand. You'll share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the animation team, and you'll help with shopping and meal preparation. You can exchange recipes if you wish.

Location and leisure

Le Mans is located in the West of France. It is the administrative centre of the Sarthe County, in the Pays de La Loire region (50 min from Paris, and 1h30 from Nantes by train). You will have time to discover the city. Le Mans is a beautiful artistic and historical city, it is the third one of the Pays de la Loire region when it comes to culture and tourism. The old city centre is surrounded by Roman walls and the most recent renovation works organised to preserve the oldest parts of Le Mans have helped to enhance its local heritage. Two rivers cross the city which has been named one of France's greenest cities. You can find various parks and gardens, in addition to the two big forests bordering the city. For more information about the city: www.lemans.fr

Project hosted by

We already carried out a work camp with France Bénévolat about ten years ago. As for Arche de la Nature, we've been working with them for years on various civic services and event organisation projects. Today, we're expanding our partnership by organising a workcamp in their nature areas.
The Arche de la Nature estate, managed by the Le Mans Métropole urban community, offers visitors a vast natural area of almost 500 hectares. Every year, more than 500,000 visitors enjoy this park, which is permanently open to the public free of charge. L'Arche is the green lung of the Le Mans urban area. Various events (festivals, courses and outings) have been organised since 1997.

Directions to meeting point

The meeting point is at the end of the afternoon on the 12th of July at Le Mans train station: North exit, on the ground floor at the car park. On the last day (17/07), the departure time is usually set in the morning.
From Paris, you can take the train from Gare Montparnasse; regular departures are scheduled throughout the day.
If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel.
The exact meeting time will be given with the infosheet which will be sent at the latest 4 weeks before the start of the workcamp.

Additional comments

Please bring gardening gloves, good shoes for working purposes as well as work clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. As the nights can be quite cold, remember to also bring warm clothes. Don’t hesitate to bring traditional things from your country/region, photos, games, music instruments, etc. Please note that bicycles are used on a daily basis.
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it personally, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

The town is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, offering opportunities for tranquil walks and outdoor relaxation. Numerous historical sites are also located nearby (church, mill, etc.). But the city is never too far away! Indeed, Orry-la-Ville is close to major urban centers such as Chantilly or Paris, for even more exploration!

You will also have the opportunity to participate in the city's fireworks display during the festivities on 14/07.

Project hosted by

The town of Orry-la-Ville, with its picturesque landscapes and remarkable heritage, provides a conducive setting for community engagement and heritage preservation. As a town bearing an identity deeply rooted in the history of the region. 10 years after our last project, we are relaunching this partnership to also reinforce shared values of environmental preservation, social inclusion, and promotion of cultural diversity, by fostering intercultural exchanges and encouraging active citizen participation in common projects. Concordia is committed to contributing to the dynamism and flourishing of the town of Orry-la-Ville, while celebrating its rich heritage and cultivating enduring relationships based on mutual respect and collaboration.

Directions to meeting point

The meeting is planned at the train station of Orry-la-ville on 03 July at the end of the day. The exact time of the meeting will be communicated with the info sheet, sent at least 4 weeks before the beginning of the workcamp.

Work

Come discover all the beauty of the region Savoy in the middle of the French Alpes by participating in this new workcamp that works together with the community of La Motte-Servolex ! Over the years, the workcamp in La Motte-Servolex took part in the culture of this charming town located just a few kilometres away from Chambéry, the capital of Savoy. You will be welcomed with lots of generosity and friendliness by the inhabitants of the town. During the workcamp, you will be able to take part in various actions coordinated by the technical services and the environmental service. You will be working on the construction of a footbridge and the installation of a pathway on stilts to make a wetland pathway accessible. Other initiatives to improve the quality of life for residents will be proposed by the Town Hall's departments.

Accomodation and food

You will be accommodated in individual tents in front of the Halle des Sports Didier Parpillon, at the Raoul Villot Stadium, close to the city centre. The kitchen, the toilets, the showers and the group living area are in the sports hall, which is also a shelter in case of bad weather. Together, you will participate in the organisation of collective life (housekeeping, activities, etc.) and in the preparation of meals, in turn, using the products that will be purchased nearby. We will encourage, as far as possible, a vegetarian diet with local and seasonal products, while ensuring that the diets of all participants are respected and that the local gastronomy is discovered. Wifi access is possible near the public buildings which are less than 5 minutes away from the place of living. Evolving in an urban area, you will have the possibility to wash your laundry in an automatic washing machine.

Location and leisure

La Motte-Servolex (12000 inhabitants) is a community located in the region of Savoy, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes. It is attached to the agglomeration of Chambéry from which it is less than 10 km away. Thanks to the motorway network, Lyon and Geneva are respectively 1h20 and 1h from La Motte-Servolex.
The city is surrounded by the mountains of the Alpine massif and is located close to the Lake du Bourget which has many beaches on its shores, leisure facilities and many tourist attractions. You will have access to many outdoor activities (hiking, open-air cinema, swimming at the Lake du Bourget, cycling) in an urban and mountain setting. A few kilometres from the city centre, you can easily access nature by train or bus, where you can enjoy beautiful walks!

Project hosted by

The La Motte-Servolex community celebrated in 2022 their 20 years partnership with Concordia. Like every year, the project is organised with different services (animations, environment and sustainable development technologies) that will ensure you to be welcomed in good conditions. The city, attached to the agglomeration of Chambéry, is young, dynamic and sporty. The stakes of sustainable development are fully integrated into the policy of the city which is very active in this area (sorting waste, banning plant pesticides, vegetable containers on public property…). It has recently received two new labels: "Territory committed to nature" and "Best small town for biodiversity 2021" around the theme of water and biodiversity.

The projects carried out within the framework of the international projects make it possible to participate in the preservation of the heritage and enhance the surrounding environment. Openness to the world is a desire of the city to promote intercultural exchanges with the inhabitants, especially the youngest ones. If you are between 18 and 30 years old, live in the commune or its surroundings and want to take part in this project, contact the regional representative of Concordia in Rhone Alpes (chantiers.rhone-alpes@concordia.fr).

Directions to meeting point

Train station SNCF of Chambéry–Challes-Les-Eaux at 18h.
