Work

The workcamp has two goals: spread the discussion on fair trade-related topics and help the festival s organizers. International volunteers will make up a bigger team of volunteers. Workcamp schedule can be roughly split in two parts: the first (about 3 days) in which the volunteers will be introduced to the Fair Trade world, and the second (the last 4 days, coinciding with the fair) where you ll put theory in practice helping set up, run and take down the Tuttaunaltracosa Festival. During the first part we are also going to develop some topics related to globalization and North-South relationship by using role play games and non formal education methodology. During the Festival Tuttaunaltracosa the volunteers are going to play a key role in the fair by supporting all fair trade shops with their stands, visitors assisting and welcoming, helping stands management, translating press articles in English, updating social media of the workcamp and organizing flashmob in the city. During the fair, the volunteers will also have an opportunity to follow debates and workshops on responsible tourism, ethic finance etc.

Accomodation and food

Volunteers will be hosted in the youth hostel of Milano with common shared rooms and common bathrooms. A fully equipped kitchen is available. The volunteers will cook and clean as a team. You must bring a sleeping bag.

Assobotteghe (Fair Trade Shops National Association) is an Italian network of Botteghe del Mondo (fair trade shops) whose purpose is to promote fair trade and run social campaigns. Every year Assobotteghe organizes a festival called Tuttaunaltracosa where it s possible to experience a full immersion in the Italian fair trade world and get to know different actors of fair trade, environmental sustainability, social justice, international cooperation, peace education through conferences, workshops, meetings, debates. There is also a craft fair where visitors can buy traditional handicrafts and biological products. Tuttaunaltracosa fair attracts more than 40,000 visitors per year. Tuttounaltrocampo workcamp was born nine years ago as a festival s sidekick to allow local and foreign young people meet and discuss the topics linked to the fair trade. In 2017 the focus of the discussions will be set on the journey in all its aspects (migrations/traditional and fair trade/ environment and sustainability).
