Travail

Volunteers will work with Bademler Village Culture and Art Assossiation to raise awareness on intercultural dialog and solidarity. In this workcamp, the volunteers will build a walking trail and a running trail in order to support sports and healthy life, and place fitness equipments next to the trails they build where the public could do sports freely. The volunteers will assist professional workers throughout the workcamp. The walking trail and the running trail will be built in a timberland.

Logement et nourriture

As every year, volunteers will accommodate with the hospitable and volunteer families in Bademler Village, and they will have healthy and homemade meals prepared by the families. The volunteers can take lunch boxes and bring them to the working area. 1 volunteer, 2, or 3 volunteers will be staying in one house. There will be room, restroom, and bathroom in the houses.

Situation, loisirs

Bademler Village linked to İzmir which is located in the west region of Turkey and the third biggest city of the country, is one of the most interesting villages in Turkey with its culture and very typical traditions. It is 10 km to Urla, and 60 km to İzmir. The theatre hall of the village was built in 1969 and today, both the residents and the audience are quite interested in theatre. Throughout the day, the residents of the city work in farms and serums, but in the evenings most of them have become the actors on the theatre stage. There will be a festival during the workcamp in Bademler, and volunteers will have the chance to participate and enjoy. This village is also famous for its typical wedding ceremonies and the “Sea Festival” where the entire village goes to the seaside and spends 1 or 2 days under the tents. http://www.cittaslow.org/network Volunteers will learn how to prepare food for upcoming winter from villagers, participate in daily life of the villagers, and join to traditional village wedding ceremonies. In their free time, volunteers will have the chance to visit cultural and natural beauties of Bademler Village.

Travail

Mostly helping the kitchen team of the premises. Cutting, washing, slicing the vegetables, cooking the meals, preparing salad, setting up the tables and serving the food to the students, washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, etc. Some days some outdoor work is also possible.

Logement et nourriture

A: Under the supplied tents. Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. If you prefer privacy you can bring your own tent. F: Food is provided at the venue.

Situation, loisirs

Sirince is a small village in the west of Turkey. Please be aware that the center is a bit isolated. No night life, TV or disco is available at the center, but there is internet connection. The next village Sirince, which is only 15 minutes by foot, is very attractive and famous for its homemade wines and traditional architecture. The nearest town Selcuk, which is the home of world famous Ephessus open-air museum. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mUqg1yBFTo . The nearest city Izmir, is one hour away by coach. Work camp site is safe and secure.

This is a perfect chance for group of volunteers or couples. If you wish to join in a work camp with your close friends, class mates or volunteers of your previous work camps, just alert them. Also if you are an individual or a couple, but prefer to be in a smaller group, you are welcome too. GHD can host up to 5 individuals or 3-5 people from the same country for the same period. The host, Math Village needs small group of volunteers for different daily tasks during the summer while there are math courses for Turkish pupils and students. This camp will give you a chance to meet a lot of Turkish young people who will be participating in mathematic courses in the center between 1st of June and 15th of September.

Remarques

Couples, 2-3 volunteers from the same nationality or a group of international friends can apply as well as the individuals.- It is possible to join in the previous or following camps and to stay longer.

In this workcamp, volunteers will work in the elderly care homes of Mersin-Mezitli Municipality and the houses of elderly people who are in need of the personal care and social support. Volunteers visiting the elderly people and dealing with their personal care (such as brushing hair, cutting nails), will also work with them in handiwork workshops in order to improve elderly people’s diminished abilities due to ageing.

Logement et nourriture

Volunteers will stay in a cute guesthouse of the municipality. They will have their meals in Down Café where individuals with down syndrome work. Meals will be prepared by the chefs of Down Café.

A Mediterranean district Mezitli bound to Mersin city, which is one of the most touristic cities of Turkey, is one of the biggest and most beautiful districts of the city. Mersin and Mezitli are one of the cities and districts densely preferred by the refugees coming to Turkey to shelter due to the Syrian Civil War. In this coastal Mediterranean region where many cultures and communities live together and full of palm trees, there are a lot of natural and historical heritage belong to Ancient Rome and Hellenistic Period. “Productive Woman Bazaars Project” implemented by Mezitli Municipality of Mersin came in the first place in Guangzhou International Innovation Awards held in China. One of the most successful municipalities of Turkey on social innovation and city works Mersin-Mezitli Municipality will host this workcamp. Coming to front with the social and economic support provided for disabled people, individuals with down syndrome, autistic individuals, children, elderly, and refugees, and with its sustainable environment projects, Mersin-Mezitli Municipality is taking its part at the first place of the factors that make the region attractive. Volunteers will have a chance to visit cultural and natural beauties of Mezitli/Mersin. Volunteers will enjoy their time with summer activities such as swimming, pool, beach etc. Mersin is one of the most attractive cities of Turkey for tourists. Every year thousands of people visit Mersin from all around to world to spend their summer holiday.

This region, known as Caria in the ancient period, came under the dominance of Mentese Beylik after 1261. Beçin, the administrative center of Mentese Principality, has about 20 historical buildings in a partially intact condition. Beçin, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2012, is one of the few cities in Anatolia that was founded by the Turks and has remained until today. 5 km from the town of Milas in Mugla. to the south of Beçin town; Geometrical, Archaic, Classical periods, Roman, Byzantine periods, Menteşeogullari Principality and the last period of the Ottoman Empire, such as an ancient settlement that has hosted many civilizations. Another important feature of Beçin, which has a very important place in terms of Turkish cultural history with its history and geography, is that it has been the capital of Menteseogullari Principality. Most of the buildings dating back to the period of Beyliks, as well as the Western Anatolian architecture of this period, in this region to illuminate the form and nature of the first Turkish settlement. In the excavation area of Beçin Castle which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites Tentative List, the volunteers helping a professional excavation team will take part in unearthing the history, and also will be helping the environmental arrangement and cleaning of the site, maintenance, basic repairing work, and landscaping. Due to the hot weather in the summer months, excavations usually start at 5:00 am and end between 2 pm and 3 pm. There maybe changes in working program hours. The exact program will be available in the summer months. Beçin Castle Excavation, Istanbul Civilization University students and students from other universities in Turkey will participate. On weekends Saturdays will be working half-day, will not work on Sundays.

Logement et nourriture

Volunteers will be accommodated in rooms with bunk beds in the excavation house allocated to the excavation team. Students can wash their clothes on the days allocated to them. Materials used in the washing machine (detergent, etc.) will be given by the Excavation Directorate. Those who do not want to use these materials have to provide the materials themselves. The meals will be prepared by the chefs appointed by the Ministry of Excavation. Breakfast and lunch will be served both in the excavation house and excavation area, and dinner will be served in the excavation house. The preparation of breakfast routine is done by the students in charge of the duty. For distribution of the meals and cleaning of the environment, the students will be in charge. In the breaks, the preparation of tea will be made by the students on duty. The students on duty will be responsible for the day when they get up in the morning until the day before they have taken over and handed over to the guard the next day.

Milas (MYLASA) is one of the most important and biggest centers of Western Caria. The city was founded on the foothills of Mount Sadra and on the hills in front of this mountain and spread over the plain in time. The presence of the Temple of Zeus Karius and the fact that the Temple of Zeus Labranda is very close to this place made Mylasa (Milas) the religious center of Karia. According to mythology, the ancient Mylasa, one of the most important cities of Caria, took its name from Mylasos who is coming from the descendants of Aiolos lived on the island of Aiolia in Mediterranean and dominated the winds. The suffix "asa" at the end of the name Mylasa shows that Milas was founded in ancient times (3,000 BC). Beçin Castle is 5 km to Milas, 50 km to Bodrum, 40 km to Ören(Keramos) and 65 km to Didim. The Ministry of Excavation will organize visits to other excavation sites near Milas (Stratonikeia Euromos Iasos), in order volunteers to explore Milas and its surroundings (Milas Museum, Bodrum or Ören). During the remaining working hours; Turkey Archeology, Excavation Techniques, excavation Photography workshops for volunteers will be held on topics such as. The subjects of the workshops would be finalized in the summer months.

This workcamp will be organized for the first time this year in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directrote of Cultural Heritage and Museums Ministry of Beçin Castle Excavation, in the scope of "Beçin Castle Excavation". Beçin Castle Excavation is conducted by Istanbul Civilization University, Department of Art History and has been carried out in the Directrate of Prof. Dr. Kadir Pektas since 2009. Remarques

Preparations are underway to enable the Beçin Castle to be included in the Permanent List of UNESCO World Heritage Site. Volunteers should be very careful in this important historical area, and they should take utmost care not to damage the artifacts. The volunteers must provide CGC document, fill excavation participation form, write a motivation letter, and sign the excavation declaration. The states of health of the volunteers (any chronic illness, allergies etc.) and the name and content of the medicine that the volunteers have to take must be stated. As far as possible, students must take tetanus vaccines for protection purposes before they arrive. It is an obligatory to submit the current documents of the vaccination to the Ministry of Excavation upon request.

Travail

Volunteers will work for the preservation and promotion Bursa and Cumalıkızık: the Birth of the Ottoman Empire in the UNESCO-World Heritage List. In the site area, they will update the information tables for the visitors, and clean the perimeter of the site. In addition, volunteers will conduct digital media studies to promote this area locally, nationally and internationally.

Logement et nourriture

Volunteers will be accommodated in the fully equipped student dormitories with rooms for 4,6 and 8 people. The volunteers will have the breakfast and the dinner in the dining hall of the dormitory and for the luch they will take lunch boxes. Meals will be prepared by the chef of the dormitory.

Taken to World Heritage List in the Cultural Category “Bursa ve Cumalıkızık: The Birth of Ottoman Empire” at 38th Term Meeting of the World Heritage Committee, consists of 6 entities in Bursa city. These are: The Hans Area including Orhangazi Kulliye (Islamic-Ottoman Social Complex) and its surroundings, Hudavendigar (Murat I) Kulliye, Yıldırım (Bayezid I) Kulliye, The Green (Mehmet I) Kulliye, Muradiye (Murad II) Kulliye, and Cumalıkızık Village. Founded as the first capital of the Ottoman Empire and shaped by social complexes (külliye), the important commercial role of Bursa in history has been revealed by the big hans, bazaars and markets in the city. The Hans Region (Hanlar Bölgesi) has been the heart of the city economy since the 14th century. An exceptional example of the early Ottoman city, Bursa's urbanization model was a model for the Ottoman-Turkish cities that were founded later. The economic relations of Cumalıkızık Village and other foundation villages in the city center of Bursa with the hans and social complexes made an important contribution to the transformation of the Ottoman Empire into an empire with all its institutions. In their free time, volunteers will visit Bursa, museums, cultural and natural beauties of Bursa; and participate in workshops that the volunteers can benefit from socially.

Volunteers will work in Adrenaline Park, 20 km to Gursu Centre during the workcamp. Adrenaline Park is located near by Ericek Lake. Many people come to pictic around the Adrenaline Park and Ericek Lake. Volunteers will clean the picnic area by waliking, riding bikes, and canoeing on Mondays.they will work in the repair, painting, renovation, and clean the perimeter of Adrenaline Park. Moreover, volunteers will arrange the site to build resting areas in the forest.

Logement et nourriture

Volunteers will accommodate in cute bungalow houses of the Adrenalin Park on weekdays, and they will accommodate in tents on weekends. There will be possibility of shower, and bathroom every day. Meals will be prepared by the chefs of Bursa Gürsu Municipality and will be sent to the working area every day as prepared.

Founded as the first capital of the Ottoman Empire and shaped by social complexes (külliye), the important commercial role of Bursa in history has been revealed by the big hans, bazaars and markets in the city. The Hans Region (Hanlar Bölgesi) has been the heart of the city economy since the 14th century. An exceptional example of the early Ottoman city, Bursa's urbanization model was a model for the Ottoman-Turkish cities that were founded later. The economic relations of Cumalıkızık Village and other foundation villages in the city center of Bursa with the hans and social complexes made an important contribution to the transformation of the Ottoman Empire into an empire with all its institutions. Known for a special kind of pear growing in its region and for its beautiful topography, Gürsu district of Bursa city is a district where especially the people immigrating from the Balkans to Turkey live as a crowd density. You will meet very hospitable people as well as its historical and cultural beauties in this region with density of agricultural activities. The area located in Marmara Region is quite close to Bursa City Centre. Volunteers will have the chance to deal with sports such as cycling, canoeing, climbing, mountain hiking and shooting in Adrenalin Park. In their free time, volunteers will visit Bursa, museums, cultural and natural beauties of Bursa; and participate in workshops that the volunteers can benefit from socially.
