Situation, loisirs

World Heritage Göbeklitepe is located 18 kilometers northeast of the city center of Şanlıurfa, close to Örencik Village. The site was discovered in 1963 during a survey conducted with the colleboration of Istanbul and Chicago Universities and was defined as the common "V52 Neolithic Settlement Site”. The real value of the site began to emerge after the excavations initiated in 1994. After these studies, it was understood that Göbeklitepe was a cult center extending to 12000 years ago. The archeological findings states that the place is the first religious temple of the history of humanity build with human hand labor, and this changed the known history of settlement. The inner walls of the buildings also have smaller columns. The mentioned scientific data about Göbeklitepe gives important information that requires re-evaluation of the theoretical framework and dating in the archaeological studies. It is understood that Göbeklitepe is a unique sanctuary for the Neolithic period with its location, dimensions, dating and monumentalism of its buildings. Since the area remained untouched in its natural environment for 12000 years, it gives important archaeological finds. In their free time, volunteers will visit Sanliurfa City Centre, museums, cultural and natural beauties of Sanliurfa; and participate in workshops that the volunteers can benefit from socially.

Istanbul is both a historical and modern city. The Neolithic settlement uncovered by the excavations at Yenikapi Theodosius Harbor revealed that the history of the city dates back to 8500 years. Thus, a new era has been opened for the cultural, artistic, geological and urban archeology of Istanbul. The city named as Byzantine in B.C. 700, became the capital of Roman and Eastern Roman Empires later with the name of Konstantinapolis. After the Ottoman Empire conquered the city in 1453, the city had been the capital of the Ottoman Empire for about five centuries, and it started to be called "İstanbul". Its location around the Bosphorus makes Istanbul a bridge between Asia and Europe. The topography which shapes its urban settlement with the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn, defines its silhouette as one of the most important symbols of the city. Volunteers can also benefit from the facilities of Yeditepe University. In their free time, students of the Faculty of Fine Arts will carry out workshops on different subjects. A small tour of Istanbul will be organized for volunteers during the workcamp, and a day trip will be organized for the Doga Club in Sile.

Milas (MYLASA) is one of the most important and biggest centers of Western Caria. The city was founded on the foothills of Mount Sadra and on the hills in front of this mountain and spread over the plain in time. The presence of the Temple of Zeus Karius and the fact that the Temple of Zeus Labranda is very close to this place made Mylasa (Milas) the religious center of Karia. According to mythology, the ancient Mylasa, one of the most important cities of Caria, took its name from Mylasos who is coming from the descendants of Aiolos lived on the island of Aiolia in Mediterranean and dominated the winds. The suffix "asa" at the end of the name Mylasa shows that Milas was founded in ancient times (3,000 BC). Beçin Castle is 5 km to Milas, 50 km to Bodrum, 40 km to Ören(Keramos) and 65 km to Didim.
