Travail

You will be working in workshops around the site and constructing a low wall, as well as paving work or cooking. By adapting to the organisation's work hours and tasks to be completed, the workshops will be accessible to all over the age of 5. Supervised by a technical and educational adviser, the group will be composed of 4 to 5 families.

Logement et nourriture

In a house accommodated with dorms that also serves as a hosting centre for international volunteers during the winter. You will be at 10-minute walking distance from the work site and 3 minutes from the centre of the village. For lunch, you will join the volunteers (teens, international volunteers, and employees) at the Mayounelle site. As for dinner, you will organize and prepare the menus in groups.

Location: Laguépie, located 90 km northeast of Toulouse, between Gaillac and Villefranche de Rouergue. Leisure activities: You will organize yourselves together and enjoy many leisure activities like going for a swim or a walk, participating in the festivities of Laguépie and it's surrounding area, pizza dinners, game nights, and visits to the exceptional medieval villages of Najac, Cordes-sur-ciel, and Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val.

Pebbles, colors, families, and messengers of peace, you are invited to spend time with your children by participating in workshops together and meeting other families of diverse cultures. Originating from a direct partnership with the town of Laguépie since 2009, our project will take place in multiple buildings located at our site in the Mayounelle, where one part, renovated to this day, is an office for the permanent employees and the other part will become an international hosting centre. This project is the work of long-term international volunteers, international teens participating in workcamps, and local volunteers. The idea behind this project is to foster a relationship between these different groups with a tangible achievement. Therefore, you will play a key part in this cultural intermingling and will bring your stone to the concrete construction of a world where tolerance and peace will be essential.

Under the supervision of two technical experts in masonry, you will work on the restoration of the wall at the entrance of the College of Saint-Genis-De-Saintonge. Firstly, you will have to dismantle the wall in poor condition and then recover reusable stones. Lastly, you will use traditional masonry techniques to rebuild the wall.

Collective life, in a mixed dormitory with all commodities (kitchen, bathroom, etc.. The meals will be prepared by your group.

Location: Saint-Genis-De-Saintonge, Charente-Maritime, located 80 km from Bordeaux. Leisure activities: Visits of the region will be collectively organized according to your interests (sightseeing, ocean, museums, etc.).You will be able to discover the cities of the territory like St Emilion, Bordeaux, La Rochelle, etc. The free time also gives the opportunity to participate in local activities and to meet the locals who are more than happy to spend time with you.

Saint-Genis-De-Saintonge is a community in the southwest of France. It is situated in the heart of the charentaise countryside, within the proximity of the “Lalande” forest, and not far from the estuary of the Gironde. This community is an historical partner of the association with whom we had begun the first workcamps on the territory of Charente-Maritime, in 1996. After a dozen years of taking place of workcamps on the territory, the community wants to rediscover the intercultural dynamic, stimulated by the workcamps and renovate the school within the town.

The two main tasks are building and artistic construction. We also plan to start working around a new building called “the Maurel farm” by clearing it up before starting renovation work. All the work will be supervised by members of the Citrus association.

In tents at the Citrus site in Mayounelle, with access to a sanitary block and a kitchen under a tent.

Location : Laguépie, located 100 km northeast of Tolouse, between Albi and Villefranche-de-Rouergue. Leasure activities : A passionate local host will teach you how to cook seasonal dishes using the vegetables grown in the garden. Food workshops will also be organized so that you can learn the basics of a healthy diet. During your free time, you will have the opportunity to go swimming and hiking, and to meet with the other volunteers from the workcamp and from Laguépie. You will also be able to organize evening pizza dinners and game nights, and to visit the medieval villages of Najac, Cordes sur Ciel, and Saint-Antonin Noble Val.

Participate with everyone in the garden and construction workshops. This workcamp takes place, on site, at Citrus association, in the beautiful village of Laguépie in between two rivers. For the past ten years, we have been renovating an old farm with the help of many teenager workcamps and the involvement of local and international volunteers. You will be fully involved in this ongoing project.

Travail

The first two weeks, volunteers will work on the restoration on the walls of a canal. Clearing and recovery stones, dry stone wall to bring up in places (1 meter high). The last week the volunteers will help in the organization of Serenades (international music festival), logistical assistance: installation of the stands, hosting of the public, and any help that may be needed along with local volunteers. This camp is a great chance to live alongside with the inhabitants, helping them maintaining their village and making it lively through cultural events.

Logement et nourriture

You will have access to the the football club clubhouse, where you will find toilets, showers (stadium cloakroom) and a fully equipped kitchen. The meals will be prepared by volunteers: Feel free to bring recipes and food from you home country to be shared with the rest of the group. You will be asked to participate in daily tasks (kitchen, dishes, cleaning etc.). The site is located 5 and 15 minutes walk from the camp. You will be only 5 minutes from the heart of the village, where you will find shops and else (post office, tobacco, supermarket, bakery etc ...). The association can not take care of you if you arrive before the starting date of the camp or if you wish to stay a little longer.

Chalabre organizes various cultural events throughout the summer. You will be invited to the book festival which will be held the first weekend of the workcamp, to a festival of art and music which will take place the last week of the workcamp. During your stay, you can visit the castle of Chalabre http://www.chateau-chalabre.com/, and that of Montsegur http://www.montsegur.fr/accueil.vdom. You can also participate in the petanque tournament and go refresh yourself in the river that runs through the village. No worries about you being bored- Sure Chalabre will always find some leisure or activity for you:)

Located at the edge of the Ariege and Aude, the municipality of Chalabre is known for both its built inheritage and also natural wonderful surroundings. Chalabre was able to highlight the different buildings but also the vales of the Aude which crosses it. It welcomes this year its second group of international volunteers. The village of Chalabre was born in Cathar country in the 12th century, its country house and its castle formed the heart of the village. Over the years two churches were built, as well as the Chapel of Calvary overlooking the village. The municipality does not neglect its assets puts in place throughout the summer period animations for the tastes of all. Remarques

MINIMUM AGE: 18 1/No special knowledge or competence is required for this camp, except being motivated, curious and loving work in group 2/Our association does not provide a car during the workcamp. 3/ European volunteers should bring their European health care card, and everybody must, in any case, BRING THEIR INSURANCE CERTIFICATE. If health issues on the camp, the volunteers will have to pay for it, and then get reimbursed once back in the home country. 4/ Things to bring as your are going to live in very simple conditions :a flashlight, a sleeping bag, warm clothes (a sweater and rain-coat), a bathing suit. For male volunteers : short pants are generally prohibited in the public swimming pools in France, please bring a bathing suit. For work : worn out clothes and strong shoes. If you have work gloves you can bring them too. Travail

You will participate in a large-scale project. Five cottages used to be inhabited within the hamlet, however a lack of water supply made this no longer possible. In 2017, the association searched for and located a new water source that could supply the these homes. Your mission will be to continue this work begun in 2018 by connecting the new water source to the cottages by pipes that will bring the two together. With a technical supervisor, you will discover several methods and different types of work such as: masonry, clearing work, plumbing, etc.

Logement et nourriture

You will be residing in tents in the hamlet of Vaunières. A sanitary block will be at your disposal, including 3 showers and 3 WC. Meals will be shared among the community of villagers, as well as other people and volunteers. Location: Hameau de Vaunières (7 km from the village of St Julien en Beauchêne, 50 km from Gap). Leisure activities: Located within a remarkable natural environment, Vaunières is an ideal place to go hiking in the mountains and discover the rural life with its farmers’ markets and its producers. Sightseeing and sport activities may be arranged, as well as evenings full of organizing games, film screenings, international meals, and more. The village is very active in the summertime! The presence of 80 or more people in the hamlet will give you many opportunities to talk and get to know different people.

Supervised by a technical expert specialized in stone cutting as well as the delegate for the safeguarding and enhancement of the heritage of the town, you will work on the restoration of the house of Bourdin. Specifically on the walls surrounding the house’s garden which face the archaeological garden. You will perform traditional masonry work: dejointing, joining with lime mortar and traditional stone cutting.

Staying in tents in the garden of the former presbytery in the heart of the town. Food will be provided for you to prepare meals in turns.

Location: Béruges, Vienne department, 12 km from Poitiers. Leisure Activities: The volunteers of the association of the Friends of Béruges and the inhabitants will accompany you in discovering the town’s historical and archaeological richness as well as its surroundings which are full of ancient and troglodyte sites. Outings will be organized based on the local youths normal activities (cinema, shows, outdoor activities, etc.) During leisure time, you will participate in local festivities, night markets, and also visit major cities like La Rochelle or Poitiers and discover the theme park of Futuroscope.

Formerly called the “Petite Suisse poitevine”, the town of Béruges occupies a remarkable site overlooking the valley of the Boivre and has remains from prehistoric, Gallo-Roman and Merovingian times. A dynamic commune, values its archaeological and historical riches thanks to its archaeological museum testifying to the daily life of the past (ceramics, toiletries and jewelry, tools, and elements) and proposes paths of discovery: ancient roads, a monumental Gallo-Roman wall, and viewpoints. It is in this context that the town of Béruges wishes to renew its partnership with Maison des Bateleurs ─ Solidarités Jeunesses, in order to host an international youth work camp with the aim of continuing the renovation of Maison Bourdin, which destined to become a place of value for the communities heritage.

You will help to remove and clean different parts of the castle and empty one of its outbuildings. Over time, the four floors of the castle have been inhabited by several people; all types of objects from completely different times have been accumulated. On this site the project would be to clean and store them in order to open and show them to the public.

You will be accommodated in tents, with sanitary facilities, kitchen and collective living room where you will find a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. You will share the different collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the camp leaders and you will participate in the shopping and the preparation of meals, giving priority to healthy and local products.

Buzet-sur-Baïse is a commune in the south-west of France, located in the department of Lot-et-Garonne. This village has a history based around the castle of Buzet. Both have evolved at the same time. That's why you can discover the historical and natural heritage of the region with enthusiasts who want to share their culture and their know-how. Not far from Bordeaux and the ocean, trips around the region may be scheduled.

After having bought the Buzet Castle, the Buzet winemaker’s cooperative called on Concordia to create a renovation project around this property. This 10th century castle located high up in the village of Buzet, has incredible potential. That's why this summer's project would be to clean up and renovate certain rooms in the Castle so that they can be made accessible to the public. The association created by the cooperative aims to transform the site into an eco-citizen and eco-museum space.

Participate to the protection and enhancement of this breathtaking heritage! Within the castle, you will realize various works of restoration of walls (ramparts, towers) using traditional techniques, of maintaining the vegetation (clearing bushes, etc.) and many varied tasks. You will also participate to the touristic life of the site, helping the guided visits and organising activities and events!

Logement et nourriture

Accommodation is under tents (2 persons per tent) at the town stadium. Volunteers will manage the tasks of daily life in teams (shopping, cooking, and cleaning). Kitchen, toilets and showers are in a recent building on the camping site.

Situation, loisirs

Montaigu le Blin is located in the Bourbonnais area, 30km North from Vichy and 90km North from Clermont-Ferrand, in Auvergne region. It is a countryside rich with historical heritage, which you will be able to discover by visiting a few of the numerous castles and medieval cities, or by hiking, or going by bike or canoe, according to what the leading team can propose you. Your camp leaders will prepare games and activities but you will be invited to propose and create your own activities. Be creative!

Inside a lovely little French village, the castle of Montaigu le Blin is an impressive medieval fortress, classified as Historical Monument. It is located on the top of a hill, overlooking the countryside. Since 2002, volunteers have been participating, every summer, to the restoration and touristic life of the castle.

During this first year of our cooperation with the City, you will participate in the interior renovation of the daycare centre for children living in the delegated commune of Haute-Chapelle (commune of Domfront en Poiraie) under the supervision of your camp leaders and a municipal employee.

Logement et nourriture

Let’s go on an adventure! You are going to sleep in tents, by 2 or 3 (bring your mattress and your sleeping bag), in the municipal campsite with toilets and bathroom in a building. The cooking and living spaces will be in a large tent. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of dishes with good products from the market and local producers.

Domfront-en-Poiraie is located in the South of Normandy and in the Est of Orne Departement. Meetings with the inhabitants will be organised, in particular through the organisation of an international meal and various other activities. Come and discover the medieval city of Domfront-en-Poiraie, located in the heart of a region with plenty of remarkable heritage, in the department of Orne. It’s an ideal construction site for history lovers! Its castle and its history are characteristic for the city of Domfront-en-Poiraie. Around the intricated alleys of the upper city, the medieval past of the city is omnipresent: courtyards, half-timbered houses, towers, walls; all within easy reach. You will also have an opportunity to discover Norman culture: culinary specialities, hiking, discovery of the forests and Norman bocage as well as a warm welcome from the inhabitants. From Domfront, the region of Orne is open to you! The first weekend of the construction site will allow you to go back in time, back to the Middle Ages. Indeed, on August 3 and 4, the "Les Médiévales" Festival will take place: medieval market, knights' contests, musicians' strolls in the streets, shows, visit of the castle...

Remarques

Please bring gardening gloves, good shoes and working clothes. As nights can be quite cold, remember also to bring warm clothes. Don’t forget to bring a sleeping-mat, a warm sleeping bag (and a tent if you have one!). You will create a visit itinerary for the lime kilns that have been renovated, build a wooden staircase and different stone walls that will be used to delimit the site. The work will be diversified and there will be lots of different things to do! Supervised by a technical camp leader, you will learn landscaping techniques and traditional masonry techniques using local stones and lime mortars.

Logement et nourriture

You’ll sleep in 2 persons tents (please bring your sleeping bag) in the village near the leisure center. You will have access to toilets, shower facilities, a kitchen and two activity rooms inside the center. You will have the chance to eat outside whenever the weather allows it. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and cook together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of dishes with good products from the market and local producers when possible. On the first evening, the locals will welcome you with a feast made of their culinary specialties!

Davayat is a village located in the Auvergne region situated in the plain of Limagne, very close to the famous regional volcanic mountains. Situated about 20 km north of the city of Clermont-Ferrand, it is a wine-producing region which offers many hiking opportunities, canoe/kayak trips and the possibility to swim in lakes. For eight summers now, international volunteers have been coming to Davayat village and learnt how to build with stones and lime mortar, discovered the region and shared meals with the local community. Concordia has been participating in the renovation of Davayat's former lime kilns since 2011, working alongside a local organization called Cynorhodon 135, created by friendly volunteers. You will see how much the work has already progressed. This camp will be the last one on this site; your work will be diversified as you will participate to the final arrangements before the public opening! The local partner’s volunteers are looking forwards to showing you their region. You will also have the opportunity to share friendly moments and good meals with the inhabitants.

Travail

You will be renovating the pavements reconstruction of a “Charreyron” (path) in the middle of the village. For this purpose, a technical animator will always work by your side. You will remove the existing cover layer and replace it by “trifous” (local round stones) laid side by side, on a soil layer. This traditional technique gives a beautiful aesthetic result.

Allègres school, located in the centre of the village, will be made available to the group. You will sleep on mattresses on the floor, in three classrooms on the first floor. On the ground floor you will use the fully-equipped kitchen and a large activity room for socializing. Showers and toilets are also on site. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of dishes with good products from the market and local producers.

Allègre is a small town located in the Haute-Loire County in the Auvergne region, 30 km north of Le-Puy-en-Velay city. It is a village located in the Natural Regional Park of Livradois-Forez, with picturesque alleyways and red roofed houses, built on the slopes of an extinct volcano, the "Mont Bar". From the "Potence" (gallows) at the top end of the village you can overlook hundreds of kilometres of countryside! You will have the chance to go swimming in lakes, attend local celebrations and take part in outdoor leisure activities. This year we will organize the eleventh workcamp in Allègre which aims to renovate the medieval alleys of this beautiful town! Allègre is a small rural town with a very rich historical heritage. It is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters, where the remains of a classified castle overlook the village. The village is crossed by old pedestrian alleys, called "Charreyrons" by locals. For 9 summers, international volunteers have been taking turns to renovate these alleyways and the remains of the castle. This year we invite you to renovate the pavement of a “charreyron". Local celebrations, meals with the inhabitants and the discovery of the region will be on your schedule.

Travail

You will start the restoration of the old bread oven of the village. The municipality will have cleared the oven and sorted stones beforehand. With the assistance of a technical leader, you will start rebuilding the walls and make sure the vault of the oven is preserved.

Logement et nourriture

Saint-Vincent’s school, located in the village, will be made available to the group. You will sleep on camp-beds on the floor, in two rooms on the first floor (girls and boys will be separated). Showers and toilets are also on the site. 100 meters from the school, you will have the fully-equipped kitchen and a large activity room for socializing, in the house of associations. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. Saint-Vincent is a small town located on the way to Santiago de Compostela, in the department of Haute-Loire, in the region of Auvergne, 17 km north from the city Le-Puy-en-Velay. Saint-Vincent is located close to Loire, in the Velay County, a territory comprising natural spaces and unique heritage. You will have the chance to go swimming in lakes, hike up to beautiful viewpoints, make barbecues on the island of Cheyrac and visit the city of Puy-en-Velay (UNESCO world heritage). Three bread ovens have already been renovated in Saint-Vincent. Work together with the inhabitants on the restoration of the fourth one, located in the center of the village. The municipality would like to develop the lower part of its main village and enhance its small heritage. The remarkable feature of this square is an old bread oven, currently in a state of complete degradation. Restoring this oven will bring international volunteer’s and local inhabitant’s energies together. The city’s objective is to organize a big « Round of Bread Ovens». Local celebrations, meals with the inhabitants and the discovery of the region will be on your schedule as well.

Travail

Your main mission will be to rebuild the collapsed part of the enclosure wall. To do so, you will have to unbuild this wall in order to regain its healthy base. Then, you will learn how to build a new wall, in keeping with the existing one, by selecting and using the appropriated stones. You will also remove the vegetation on the wall. Supervised by a technical instructor, you will learn traditional building techniques using local stones and lime mortars.

Logement et nourriture

You will sleep in a two-person tent, in the gravelled schoolyard. We will provide you with comfortable ground sheets. The toilet block will be in the school, and the showers in the stadium, 600 meters away. For community life, a large room will be available in the town hall, right next to the school. It has a kitchen, fridges, and also tables and chairs that you will be able to put outside to enjoy your meals under the sun. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. A budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will shop and prepare meals all together favouring local and healthy products.

The village is located in the department of Allier, in the region of Auvergne, 20 minutes away from Montluçon and 1h away from Bourges. In the village, you will find a grocery store and a hotel-bar-restaurant. It is located next to the Forest of Tronçais, one of the most beautiful oak forests in Europe! The quality of its wood is indeed renowned worldwide. The territory has a remarkable natural and built heritage (the Forest of Tronçais, the Aumance Valley, medieval villages such as Hérisson and Ainay-le-Château, typical farms, etc). Get involved in the preservation and the enhancement of the historical and cultural heritage of a French village by reconstructing a traditional enclosure wall. The village of Le Brethon possesses a beautiful church who is listed as a “National Monument”. It is well preserved, except for the back enclosure wall that partially collapsed. Cautious about their heritage, the municipal team decided to welcome an international workcamp to help with its rebuilding. It will be the second workcamp organised in the village and the inhabitants are looking forward to welcoming you and share with you their traditions and heritage.

Travail

You will consolidate the cracked parts of the church wall, and restore the damaged facades of the side chapel. You will clean the damaged parts and apply a coating.

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in tents around a soccer stadium with access to cloakrooms, toilets and showers. You will have access to a building with a kitchen for everyday use. You will prepare the meals in shifts and participate in the organisation of the collective life (planning, cleaning, shopping, etc.). We will encourage the purchase of local and seasonal products.

In the heart of the Armagnac countryside, Saint-Martin and its surrounding villages offer unique architecture that you can appreciate in your spare time. Furthermore, three of the most beautiful villages of France are just nearby: Montreal-du-Gers (34km), Fources (39km) and Larressingle (39km). Saint-Martin d’Armagnac is close to the charming city of Eauze, capital of Armagnac, and also to Mont-de-Marsan. During the summer, you can enjoy various local markets, or relax at a nearby lake in the forest of Aignan.

Saint Martin of Armagnac is a small, charming town in the western Gers department. Come and discover the village’s many little treasures, including the hilly, wooded landscape with its beautiful vineyards and the Gallo-Roman vestiges near a 16th-century castle. The Camasa Association advocates the preservation of the village’s heritage and in particular the restoration of one of its churches, the Church of Castagnet. This building is made of raw earth and magnificent stones from a nearby village.

Travail

You will clean small woodland to allow and help the flow of a spring. You will work with small tools under the supervision of a technical leader who will share with you his/her skills in management and protection of nature. You will also participate to the development of Valserine river banks in cooperation with the Regional Nature Park of Haut-Jura. This camp does not require any specific skills. If you are sensitive to the protection of nature and water management this project is for you!

Logement et nourriture

You will be accommodated in Louis Marchand Chalet in Lelex. You will have access to the bathrooms and showers inside the building. The group will be accompanied by two camp leaders, a group leader and a technical leader. Together you will participate to the organization of collective life: cleaning, preparing meals in turns using the products bought nearby, organising activities etc. We will favour local products and short supply circuits. Tastings of local specialties may also be organised with local producers.

Lelex (around 220 inhabitants) is a touristic village in the Monts Jura resort in the heart of the Valserine valley, at the foot of the Cret de la Neige and about 23 km from Switzerland. The town is a starting point for excursions and obtained in 2012 the Green Station tourist label. The closest cities are Geneva (18 km), Besançon and Lyon (around 100 km).

Trinational (French, German, Italian). Valserine is a river of great quality which has obtained the "Wild River" label. It flows from the slopes of the Jura to the Rhone. In the heart of the Gex region, come discover it by volunteering in an environmental project! This first project is organized with many partners including the association Louis Marchand (which manages a holiday center) and the town of Lelex. The Regional Nature Park of Haut-Jura is also mobilized. The Valserine River, first Wild River of France, flows across the town of Lelex. To preserve the quality of the water and to discover and show the richness of biodiversity, you will work on the cleaning of a source and on the banks of the Valserine in Lelex. You will help us save the local natural heritage while discovering a region at the crossroads of the Jura and the Alps only a few kilometers away from Switzerland!

Remarques

Open to German and Italian (LUN) volunteers only. This project is supported by the OFAJ, the French-German Youth Office. Some volunteers from France, Germany and Italy may be eligible for reimbursement of their travel costs upon the presentation of original tickets. Remember to bring gloves as well as working clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. In the mountains, nights may be chilly. Remember to bring a warm sleeping bag and warm clothes, also appropriate clothing in case of rain (polar sleeve jacket, raincoat ...). Do not forget sun protection as well (hat, sunglasses and sunscreen) and your swimsuit! Convivial activities will be programmed together with your camp leaders and according to your suggestions!
